Listen for the ricochet  . Gota say i would love that scope on my foxing rig.

I thought that was a squealling boar.

Impressive scope though, especially the way the recticle changes from black to white to suit the objective.

The guy should be hung up for that, no respect for the quarry.

This may not look sporting and thats because it aint sport its vermin control, hogs are becoming a massive problem in the states and getting out of control ruining crops, competeing with native animals for food, they carry lots of parasites and diseases which farmers wont want there livestock to contract, they also make a massive mess of the ground due to the way like to dig and root around. Sometimes things just need done :good:

It's hardly fair to say they fired willy nilly and after firing they didnt "finish the job" for all we know they went out and finish off every shot boar/pig.

We only get a few minutes of what goes on  so its easy enough to say they didnt do this and they but for all we know they did

I would agree though its not very sporting but yet again its not for sport its for pest control. I dont remember these complaints when the video was posted of a chopper flying over NZ with a guy with a semi auto rifle dropping herds of goats at a time  everyone though it was cool lol

The shooting I do agree though does leave somewhat to be desired, one bit I remember he fired and you can just see dirt fly up into the air lol :hmm:

Think you will find the guy's were from NZ but were actually culling the goats on the Galapogos Islands due to the goats being introduced and destroying the natural fauna and food for the Giant Tortoise.

Sorta like the Boars that were introduced to alot of countries (Australia) and now ruin alot of farm land and give ticks n bugs to farm animals ?

Theres not enough info to be making lots of claims about it but I think we can all agree that the guys shooting was terrible :good: Yes it was irrisponsible and eratic shooting :)

Was it sporting ? No

Was it pest control? yes

Was it effective ? yes

Could it have been more effective ?

I personally don't own a rifle, but have had a few shots on a range. It is a skill to accurately place shots at a target, whether real or paper. This guy's shooting seems to be a bit wild to me. Could he have used a silencer and taken shots at stationery animals rather than shooting at hogs on the hoof?

This is not meant to be sport, I have a friend in Texas who is a fireman & does hog control part time, the hogs are a huge problem in the southern states & that means that all methods to control them are being used, He gets paid for every hog he shoots so its nothing more than vermin control to him.

Dont forget vast areas in texas are uninhabited except for the farms so using rifles at night is excepted.

Whether pest control or not, he wasn't taking enough time to ensure, or even attempt, a clean kill. I think he says it all when he reloads his 8th round and says 'I got 3'. If he'd taken his time and had a bit more respect for the animals he was shooting he should have managed 3 down with 3 or 4 shots.
