David BASC
At BASC we want to build up a network of clay grounds that are more suited to live quarry shooters rather than the competition shooter. In other words grounds that put on targets and layouts that are more representative of pheasants, pigeons, teal, rabbit etc rather than competition targets that look nothing like – I hope you know what I mean! The idea will be for BASC to promote these grounds and clubs to BASC members via the BASC web site and Shooting & Conservation magazine, and the Go Shooting web site. If your local club or ground fits the bill, then please let me know and they will get free publicity from BASC – yes I do mean free- no charge, no need to be members of BASC etc, I just need good recommendations so I can help to push more shooters to them. Thanks David
Beardo
always been impressed with Broomhills in Hertfordshire - the stands are named after the quarry types they represent (teal, pheasant, fur and feathers etc.)
the_commoner
i think you guys at BASC are aware of Lowes Lane, plenty of 'live' targets down there
George1990
How about Southdown Sporting Gun Club? They always have impressive targets.
Chard
Worsley has to be worth a mention. Clay competition shooters are always whining that they can't hit them

libs
H&H in northwood offer great high birds and game shots, still do driven grouse hand trapped if you request it, and the instructors are the male k9 reproductive organs. webber
Lupton gets my vote. I've never shot the same targets twice. Sporting targets in a sporting setting. Sometimes there is a flush stand available. The steak pies alone are worth the trip. Sensible targets at affordable prices. They shoot Saturdays 11am to 3pm and Wednesdays from 3am under floodlights in the winter although I have not done this. Ean76
Bringing the attention down south, Fareham Clay Target Club in Hampshire have a good sporting layout. You never see the same layout and they have it once a month. It's set in and around the woods with 2 or 3 stands shot over 2 valleys and you could say that they put the sport back into sporting!! Hardwoods Green
West Mids Shooting Ground at Hodnet, by far the prettiest ground in the country IMO, you hardly ever see a trap.
Nial
Cluny Clays in Fife have two skeet/dtl/ compact sporting ranges and about another 9 sporting stands. The Arniston Shooting Ground, Gorebridge, Midlothian has skeet/dtl and about 7 sporting stands. Nial.
mudpatten
Emsworth Sporting Clays, Marlpit lane, Woodmancote, West Sussex. Shoot on the third Sunday of every month. Tuition and practice stands available. Basic food and toilet facilities. Bit of a "straw bale shoot" but very safe and friendly. I`m sure that, if you wanted to simulate a particular type of bird on one or more stands, with sufficient notice the organisers would be only too happy to oblige. Nick.
