  2. It was the last of the 101s made after Classic doubles bought over the olin kodensha factory where the Winchester 101s were made. They were renamed classic doubles 101 but were the same guns made on the same machinery arguably with better wood. After Classic doubles folded and ceased production of the 101 the machinery was transported to America and there was a brief spell of production under the Connecticut Valley Classic brand before production again ceased. My gun was a Classic doubles 101 20 bore Skeet gun. Skeet choked in both barrels. Both barrels shoot onto each other and the patterns were nice and even. Weight was about 7lb so not light for a twenty but it handled well on clays and game.

  4. The country is ****ed , in 20 years or less we will be overrun with muslims they will have majority of power in goverment , sharia law . Because too many soft as **** woke lefties . Probably get barred for this but so be it just saying what most people think but too scared to say .
  5. Yes we’ve all done that at times but pro skeet champions (i.e those that have straight hundreds for breakfast) use skeet chokes. Answer honestly: would you enter a skeet comp’ using 3/4 and full? If you did would consider that you had any advantage by doing so?
  6. On the old Eley Plus traps, strings were used to release the target from them. They still needed a trapper to cock and load the clay onto the Trap. When I took over the running of a clay ground in 1990's, we inherited an Eley plus trap which was cocked and released by a lever situated at the rear of the 5 firing points. A trapper would load the clay onto the arm. Damned dangerous really, the trapper had no means of communication with the guy releasing the Trap. Winchester white flyer traps were the first of the electronic traps that I saw. Although electronic cocking and releasing, again a trapper was needed to put the clay on the Trap arm.

  8. My son as always trying to get unusual presents Bought my wife a can crusher as part of her xmas presents and put it up near the back door . Now if you put a can in it and go to crush it ,it shoots out like a bullet out a gun but if you squeeze the sides of the can even slightly it crushes up , We mentioned this to my son who had to try it then admit we where correct . Anybody else got a can crusher does it do the same thing ?, are we doing something wrong ?.
  9. Like you say it's an expensive day out now and having been to quite a few over the years they no longer hold the attraction that they once did , we used to go at the early Holkham ones , started off with a very good fair in lovely surroundings , the surroundings didn't change much but the fair itself ended up like a Sunday market and then it rapidly went downhill ,they then held it every two years instead of yearly and now I am not sure if it is still held at all , the same thing happened at the Suffolk Game Fair held near Saxmundam , again all right at first and then the bubble burst and now I think the glory days of game fairs are long gone and very much doubt if the good days will ever return . Shall I show you our marrows when they're engorged enough?
  17. The pattern plate doesn’t lie. Try asking a skeet shooter to compete with 3/4 and full…?! Ask a down-the-line shooter to use cylinder and skeet…?! Would they take you up on it? Having said that, if I were returning back to fixed chokes, I would choose open ones. They do cover most average situations, but I would miss tighter chokes for the tall stuff or when the pigeons aren’t decoying properly. I suppose there is a reason why multi chokes have become normalised for the great majority of shotgunners. If they ever invent self cleaning ones - now there’s a winner…..🙂
