Dave-G
Driving between permissions just before midnight, Fleabag was having a nose out the window with my rechargeable Maglite as we were about to pass Nosely Hall, Eastern Leic's. BIG CAT he blurts - right say I but can't resist taking a looksee while slowing down. It was by then legging it off to our left along a hedgeline. All I got to see as I slapped it into reverse and moved back up the hill was a rear quarter view... making it look quite stubby - amost dog like. I wish I'd been able to notice it's tail but I was also restricted to a view through my rear side window which is privacy glass. I'd say it looked about the height of a full grown Rottie from my view. Chris had gotten a full on view of it - and watched it turn and scarper. He said it was definitely a very large cat. IF I'm up early enough tomorrow I might pop out there with a camera to see if I can find it's prints. Edited March 3, 2008 by Dave-G

bob300w
Aha! A believer! Take some plaster of paris and do a cast of the prints, although a Police officer (A shooting man) down here did that, and people still did not believe it, even though the local Zoo confirmed that it was a big cats prints! adymorris
Used to shoot in Colchester quite a lot with air rifles, one weekend the landowner rang & asked if we had shotguns, strange I thought as we be shooting around horses so a shotgun would scare the **** out of them I said, no he said for your own protection , there a big black cat roaming around chewing up everything it comes across. Sure enough when we got there, there was approx 25 half eaten rabbits scattered around 6 acres of land and at about 1 in the morning I lamped the hedgeline and was greeted with a deep purring sound it's eye's being at least 2 foot from the floor
russ91
the half eaten rabbits sound like fox but i do belive there is big cats out there
al4x
sounds like someone had been out shooting and left the corpses out that were then half eaten by foxes. Its not big cat behaviour to kill lots of animals and only half eat them as its a waste of energy

Dave-G
I've managed to get some photo's of what I think are the cat paw prints - amongst many others, including dog and fox but there is a bit of a hard-standing pull in area at the side of the road where people pull in and walk their dogs by the looks of it. There are loads of boot prints there too. These are the clearer photo's of 14 I took.

Have to admit, a big cat wearing boots is a new one They certainly look like big cat prints to me, but having seen one of them at 120 yards, and for about 5 minutes, I am already a believer. Is there a zoo near you where you could get a second opinion?

Evil Elvis
thats crazy stuff, if i came across it i would shoot it as its doing lots of damage isnt it??? What harm is it doing on my arable farm? Those prints dont look like the ones i have seen, they are too small, how-ever the lack of claw marks makes them suspiciously feline!! The ones I have seen has a dinstiguised shaped pad, and the smaller pads are more spread out and rounded. paulf
Im not suprised, seen very large cat prints down my way quite a bit and certainly not dog. I definately wouldnt shoot one for the sake of it.
njc110381
Think how the **** would hit the fan if this was ever admitted to by the government. It's better hidden away from public view. If it was ever proven, the public would be scared for there lives (just think how many kids could have been eaten already). I believe in them being around, although not in great numbers. Anyone who doesn't is very narrow minded.

catroofel
as i said in a previous post on this topic i am a believer and always have been. i have seen with my own eyes along with about 13 beaters, 3 underkeepers & 1 head keeper a live in the flesh black LARGE cat at the beginning of a shoot day while awaiting the trailer. it was not doing any harm and infact from the way it moved i would'v said it was more interested in getting the hell away from us as quickly and quietly as possible. i saw it and am quite sure of what we saw no denying it they are out there
fullbore
i will belive theres one out there when i see it. you ever seen a red squirrel? or a scottish wildcat or even a pine marten Edited March 3, 2008 by fullbore
adymorris
the half eaten rabbits sound like fox but i do belive there is big cats out there that's what i thought at first but we had been shooting the land for a couple of years and yes we sighted the odd fox now & then but they had never done anything like this, but what really tipped the scales, and I forgot to mention this, brian the land owner saw the thing at the bottom of the paddock a few nights before plus I lamped the thing in a similar place sounds like someone had been out shooting and left the corpses out that were then half eaten by foxes. Its not big cat behaviour to kill lots of animals and only half eat them as its a waste of energy The only people to shoot the land is us, and yes could have been a fox but 99% sure it was something else if you could have shot him would you have??i dont know if i would Only if it attacked me I'm not too bothered what people think, yes there is no there isn't, who cares, I have very good eyesight, I know what I saw and that's good enough for me end of
