  1. My old TV and video went to the charity shop a couple of years ago, but thanks for the reply and link though. OB
  2. Thanks for that Steve. I'll sort them out later and let you know. Many thanks OB
  3. Good luck with the sale of the cartridges, but more especially I hope all goes well and wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully a return to shooting sometime in the future. OB Nice offer TC
  4. I've got quite a few shooting related videos that I wanted to put onto DVDs but when I enquired at a local shop, was told that they could only put one video on per DVD at about £10 a time. That didn't seem right to me as surely one DVD has at least 2 hrs playing time and each of my videos are about 1/2 hour. Think that they were having a laugh. Any ideas of where I could take them ? OB
  5. Good for you Islandgun. How are you getting on with the Macnab ? Cracking guns. I love mine. Back on topic, we too got the two brown envelopes advising of the £100 each heating allowance, but I think that the wife's already spent it and it's not in the bank yet OB
  6. A good report of what would be an exceptional bag for most at this time of year, around this way anyway. Thanks for posting. OB
  7. Or possibly try Henry Krank in Pudsey, West Yorkshire. sales@henrykrank.com
  8. That's true, perhaps I remembered them for the wrong reason
  9. Another great story MM, which has generated more interesting anecdotes from others. Keep 'em coming Marshman. I'm sure there's many more stories to be told. OB
  10. Dik a dum dum by Des O'Conner The Birdy Song Agadoo The Floral Dance by Terry Wogan The Cheeky Song by the Cheeky Girls Think that I may have picked up on the wrong thread here
  11. I bet Ditchy could make a few knife handles out of those.
  12. As has been said, they run at lower temperatures and so are more condusive to underfloor heating operating at no higher than 30 Deg C. Obviously if on a radiator system, the rads would have to be sized (larger) for the lower operating temperature. If outside space is available then a ground source heat pump would be the better option, although initially more expensive to install. As Figgy said, if combined with solar panels, can be pretty efficient. Not sure if the grant system still applies as it once did on the installation of solar panels. OB
  13. Whilst watching Gardeners World the other day, Monty Don mentioned that birds (not necessarily pigeons) tend to go for brighter coloured (orange and red) berries before then turning to darker (black and purple) ones. I'd not previously given this much thought, but it does reinforce what I am currently finding, that the few pigeons that I have shot recently have had hawthorn berries in their crops in lieu of ivy berries. Obviously pigeons, being opportunist birds will, at this time of year and to conserve energy, feed on any available food nearest to their roosting woods. This may explain why they have recently totally ignored one of my favourite little woods with trees covered in ivy, for roadside hedgerows where hawthorn berries (or should that be just Haws - JDog to advise). Anyone else finding similar ? OB
  14. You`re not the only one Dave. The typhoid scare had a lasting impression. I`ve not eaten corned beef since either. OB

    At last.

I think that anyone in their right mind would have done exactly the same as you, so good for you. Perhaps if more did the same, then the 'non' deliveries would impact on the main contractor and it would force them and/or the employer to get their act together. I've been on sites where 'site procedures' and 'health & safety' bore no relationship whatsoever to common sense. You have my sympathy, but it sounds as though that problem has now been resolved, for you anyway. OB
  16. Not sure whether the 16g is on a 20 action or not, but they still weigh in excess of 7lb which somewhat defeats the point of a 16g. The Lincoln range however are on a truly scaled down action weighing around 6 1/2 lbs, an ideal weight for a 16g in my opinion. OB
  17. The pleasure was all mine MM I can assure you. I have to thank you for the very warm welcome into your home given to my wife and myself. For what was meant to be a quick visit and maybe a cup of tea, I was treated to a guided tour of your wonderful shoot, with many little anecdotes related along the way. What our respective wives talked about while we were out and about, I`ve no idea, but the time went all too quickly and I apologise that I couldn`t spend more time at yours , but didn`t wish to encroach too much on your day. Perhaps another time in the future MM. I thoroughly enjoyed your company. Thanks also for that Hickling Broad book that you kindly gave me. There really are some great people on this forum and to meet one of the best was indeed a great pleasure. OB
  18. We have a Morso Squirrel multi fuel burner (4.5 KW) in our small cottage and I get large bags of kiln dried oak (mainly) off cuts from a Kentish company that makes rocking horses. Burns really well and hot and cutting down the vents etc we can keep in overnight if necessary but normally just have it going during the evening. Works out really cheap with two big bags (4 foot tall by about 2 foot diameter) at £5 per bag lasting a month. OB
  19. I think that Seeland do one for about £50 or even the more expensive Napier Protector. OB
  20. That Loch Neagh looks a magical place to shoot. Always great to watch, especially the dogs on that long retrieve across the bay. Excellent video once again. Thanks for posting Big Al. OB
  21. Blimey, I only used to get 3 Bob from the village butcher for fresh rabbits ! That was in the early 60s though. Also used to take the odd one or two to school for dissection in Biology lessons. Got 3 Bob for a healthy rabbit, but 3/6d if it had tapeworm as that was more interesting for us to examine. Funny how the tapeworms were still alive long after the rabbits died. Still able to feed I suppose. A good little earner to subsidise the Eley .410 cartridges from the local hardware store. Happy days. The rabbit shooting, not school. OB
  22. Nice report there Dad. It's good to see that some are still getting reasonable bags. Even more so that they are on rape, although obviously also finding wheat. They've not started on the rape around here yet and probably won't until the first frost knocks it back a bit. The few I had coming into a favourite little wood in the week were all packed with hawthorn berries. Good luck to those finding them on the rape already. OB
  23. Yes, totally agree. Always interested in what Gunman has to say. A mine of information and experience. OB
  24. As JJsDad said above, Peter Dyson is your man. They do the whole range of checkering tools. Unless you know the exact lines per inch of your checkering, it sounds as though you just need a single cutting head and I think that they do one specially for tight curves etc. OB
