Franchi affinity stock /another use for a mousemat
stu nesling replied to stu nesling's topic in Guns & Equipment
at least the raptors had a flat base to the pad, i added 1/2 inch to mine. my grifone has now expired ! stock/barrel/trigger group/action available for sale. -
101 uses for a mousemat ! not perfect but the pigeons won't know. Has anyone else had the problem of finding an extension for their franchi affinity ? From what i can find the importer has decided not to stock/sell/import the TSA extended pads for this shotgun. So, i got to thinking about making one of my own. The pics show how i got on. I now have a LOP of 14.5 which matches the dimensions of my old 712 which has now expired (parts available if anyone needs them). I know the stocks are a different shape and they have changed a lot of the dimensions, but it comes up better than ever now. Just need to get it patterned and i will feel more confident. Stu

4 hares plus i was carrying 1 as well.....ouch! every time one came close i had to drop it, then pick it up again. tried to get one in the netting but was a bit big to fit. those were on just 1 drive. only about a 1/2 mile walk. bag was well tested... so was i bag for the day was around 200
-
had mine a few years now, spot on with no issues. you can get 4 hares in there at a push...thats a test for any bag.

if you can still find them, altberg field and fell. good quality leather and very comfortable. picked up a pair a couple of years ago for £70 new. just like wearing slippers. buy a half size big if you can as they a comfy fit.

i have had 3 franchi auto's, all gas operated and i still have 2 now. i kept both 712's one is a std black action the other a grifone with nice wood stock. the 912 3.5 inch i sold went to a wildfowler and was a bit of a beast, not really for pigeon loads!! will never part with the 712's. piston settings are only really a problem on a light load, what did you want to use yours for??
-
had a franchi 912 for a while, that was a 3.5inch chamber. a real beast!!

just been to get a slab of shells and had a bit of a shock. even the basic power pigeon shells have increased form around £45 a slab to £55 !! 2 letters, 1 from gamebore 1 from another manufacturer on the counter blaming lead prices. has lead really gone up by 20%? whats it like in your dealers?

nice one, used to love lure fishing for them. nice to see it held low over a mat,as you know.. they are fragile fish. lost all the enthusiasm after my "30"
-
silver solder! if done right.plenty strong enuff.

a sign of the times i think,i purchased mine back in 1988. with all the cost cutting etc the stock would be a good place to start cost cutting. iam not against plain stocks,1 of my franchis has a plain black plastic stock and i love it. care is nearly zero!!
-
oh yes its well weighted. almost smack on the pin. think this passes a a good bit of wood.... p.s. i will get that forend to you, sometime!
-
main thing against the old 682 is weight, my black actioned 28" 682 supersport weighs a hefty 8lb 12!! pro's .. the wood is amazing, and it dont kick much.
-
liked the SLR better !! much more fun
-
hmmm, always thought they had parallel blades to stop them riding up the screws and cutting them up....? 200 quid for plastic handles lol
-
terrano for heavy stuff/proper off road. rav4 for a mix of road and some offroad. the 4.2 rav4 version has the best 4x4 system, permanantly engaged.
-
or, just get used to it. my 682 from the eighties has always been like that! i just got used to it. as suggested probably an easy fix if you want to. shoot top barrel 1st it will be faster reloading that way if you only take 1 shot to kill
-
same as above. can put you onto a 5 quid remote control switch too if your diy minded. :good:pm for details
