  1. Boxers do it for the money, and potentially its huge money. Live for today and the bright lights, let tomorrow worry about itself is probably the way they see it. They all come from humble backgrounds where the life choices are few, they are expendables There is talk, mind you its only talk, of the British football banning head contact with the ball but money talks louder than H&S.. S0D the players, whats the effect on TV revenue??? As a previous (almost, not quite) top level rugby player for a number of years in my youth, I would like to flag up the sport's guilty secret, spinal injuries. You just try to get the RFU to acknowledge, much less discuss this. My old mentor and friend Tommy Kemp, former President of the RFU , ex international and a Professor of medicine at St Mary's Hospital Paddington, he fought and lost the spinal injuries battle decades back, argueing for players to wear spinal braces thirty odd years ago, taking rugby closer to American football. That went down like a ton of bricks .
  2. Same in Europe, carp was a staple in the middle ages and certainly in Hungary its the traditional Christmas dish
  3. Actually there is a lot of potential for some superb very long ranges but the Swiss Army only trains to 300m The Swiss have a 300m range at Bisley, not a well known fact Also in Switzerland, when you reach the end of your military service it used to be the case that they let you keep the rifle.
  4. I completely agree, it really couldn't be more obvious could it?
  5. standard trigger lets the rifle down, a BX trigger from Rimfire Magic transforms it. It drops straight in
  6. All that people would have to do to avoid the poll tax is not register to vote and drop off the electoral register. Which is what happened last time, A lot of people only go on the electoral register because its one of the requirements to pass credit checks for finance. They would not stay on once they got the credit card or mobile phone
  7. even though they are like the grocer's broom
  8. Definitely a MIG but I'm not sure what effect the waxoil will have on the quality of the join
  9. There is a lot that can be done with powder charges as well. Back in Greener's day shotguns were either loaded with black powder or black powder substitutes such as Shultz or Smokeless Diamond. Both incredibly soft shooting compared with modern powders. Even the old Grand Prix cartridges of the 1970s was a very different cartridge, loaded I believe with Nobel 80 in those days but apparent recoil was much smoother Probably the best gentle powder today would be unique
  10. I have seen that happen in a .410 semi before Years ago after the handgun ban a few people tried ,410 semis loaded with slugs, probably quite a heavy load, and the cases used to come out looking like coke bottles. I had a bulged .410 case I picked up in my bits box in the garage, I will have to go an see if its still there. I can't remember the make of the shotgun they used, it looked like an assault rifle, anyway they didn't catch on. Partly I think because the ammo was too expensive and partly because they didn't feed that reliably.
  11. It could be an idea to try some pickup cartridges from elsewhere as a starting point to test whether they load ok. Possibly the semi is ejectiing the cases while there is still residual pressure in the chamber causing the unsupported plastic to be bulged as it comes out.
  12. Part of that was because a lot of the people didn't exist.
  13. The poll tax was much fairer for a number of reasons. One of the key points, often missed, was it also prevented postal ballot fraud in elections. This was because you could no longer register extra ficticious postal voters at your address without having to pay extra poll tax for them. Labour, who had come to rely on fake postal votes went ballistic and the Poll tax Riots resulted
  14. In the Southern States of America more of the "slaves" were Irish and Scots than African. Entrapped by poverty and with no ability to negotiate they were forced to work for bed and board. Known as the rednecks they were treated as being of no value. The one advantage the African slaves had over the rednecks was they had a value. Not much compensation I must admit but at that time some of my ancestors were farm workers in Oxfordshire and their quality of life was no better. plus upset the landowner or object to him ******** your daughter and you could be out
  15. About ten years ago I ended up on a bus packed with kids going to the local sixth form college. One very gobby individual was proudly telling the whole bus his tricks for scamming stuff on ebay. Smug little B was so proud of himself.
  16. Well that is a question in itself
  17. It would be better if they came round and put an electronic tag on you and be done with it. Go outside your home and you will do the rest in detention. My son was given covid by somebody who was on track and trace five times over. (five workmates in the same office had tested positive and she was supposed to be in self isolation x5) but she decided it was optional and didn't. Hopefully, when all this is over some serious resources will be spent on setting up a proper track and trace technology, fully tested and commissioned because what nobody seems to be picking up on is the incredible human and financial cost of this floundering in lost months of wishy washy "try to avoid" advice which is clearly not working. People are still being seen on the Piccadilly line from Heathrow Airport going into London every day with suitcases. Explain that to me? Thats not self isolating If this happens again, and there is no reason to believe it wont, bring down the drawbridge hard and kill the spread stone dead once and for all in the shortest possible time and then get back to normal
  18. Its not as though the Royal Family are pure English protestant. Generations of inter marriage amount all the European aristocracy (and beyond Europe too) has produced a right melting pot of nationalities for their ancestry. Diana's mother was Francis Shand Kidd, Shand Kidd's father was Maurice Rothe (aka Rothschild), ethnically Jewish but nobody kicked off about Di being a quarter Jewish
  19. You don't pee in your own doorstep by discussing private family matters in public, much less on TV where they will be a public record for all time
  20. Very similar story for my mother a couple of years ago she was in hospital with sepsis. One day she phoned me to say the doctor has told her she could go home. It was actually 36 hours before she got out, the delay was purely about getting her paperwork done. She is back in hospital now, on Friday they moved her to a different hospital. Today is Sunday, she still hasn't seen a doctor since she arrived. Which means she has taken up a hospital bed for three days without getting any treatment
  21. You are supposed to change the gearbox fluid and service the auto gearbox on a RWD merc every 60,000. Very few ever get done
  22. Plus they can massively increase that with overtime
