We can't deport them back to France because France have been careful not to document them. If they document them they have to keep them The French did not manage the camp at Sangat, the Red Cross did
-
If we treated them the same way as the French do they would have no reason to see Britain as a more desirable place to try and get to. Even years ago when I worked in West Africa everybody wanted to one day come and live in UK, it was like a mantra, a universal aspiration. The Dublin Agreement, laid down under EU law that asylum should be processed in the first European country that an applicant is DOCUMENTED. This is the killer condition. If the country doesn't DOCUMENT the migrant they don't have to process them. Do you see a cop - out? Of course we do. The Dublin Regulation (Regulation No. 604/2013; sometimes the Dublin III Regulation; previously the Dublin II Regulation and Dublin Convention) is a European Union (EU) law that determines which EU Member State is responsible for the examination of an application for asylum, submitted by persons seeking international protection under the Geneva Convention and the EU Qualification Directive, within the European Union. It is the cornerstone of the Dublin System, which consists of the Dublin Regulation and the EURODAC Regulation, which establishes a Europe-wide fingerprinting database for unauthorised entrants to the EU. The Dublin Regulation aims to "determine rapidly the Member State responsible [for an asylum claim]"[1] and provides for the transfer of an asylum seeker to that Member State.

When my OH worked in the NHS (i.e. up till last year) it used to infuriate her how many staff would book time off for dental or minor non urgent medical appointments on working days despite having plenty of days off on their rota when it could be done in their own time. And it wasn't just nip off an hour early or take a late lunch, they would take the whole day. "where is Sarah?" "Oh she's not in today she's got the dentist" (last week it was the chiropodist, week before it was the optician) Managers never ever said anything, They were at it too

Anyone running a 2017-18 Ford Ranger 2.2?
Vince Green replied to Fuddster's topic in Motoring Section
Ranger fuel consumption is grim. Plus be careful to check the weight. -
My mate Tony (bless him) must have had MUG written in big letters right across his forehead. He attracted scammers like bees round a honey pot After several expensive disasters he was fleeced for well over twenty grand by a Thai woman to buy a house so they could be together in their own little love nest. You can guess the outcome

There are dozens of other countries where the populations have quadrupled in the past 50 years, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. What we are seeing is the consequence and it is only going to get worse. Its not just about turning a few boats around in the channel and thats it finished -
We have a private beach near us in Cornwall. It costs £100 a year for the key but the whole family can use it.

How many people test positive on a Monday and get knocked down by a bus on Friday? Not many? What we do know has been happening is this ^^^^ from Shooting egg Because GPs have not been seeing patients or going into care homes many more people have died without being seen by a doctor before they died. By law these deaths would require a post mortum and I believe an inquest. However, the pathology depts of hospitals wouldn't be able to cope with the workload of all those PMs So GPs were instructed to put C-19 on all death certificates because under the present emergency measures that exempted them from the need for PM and inquest. Even if there was no evidence of C-19 A doctor was highlighting this on the internet a couple of weeks back and then he and his links became unavailable

What we, and every body else has to realise is that this problem is not going to go away. The population of many very poor countries is exploding. Setting aside the middle east and its wars for a moment lets just look at Africa One Country that I know a bit about is Nigeria. In 50 years its population has quadrupled from about 50 million in 1970 to over 200 million today. Whats more its still increasing. Other countries in that area are much the same. Sierra Leone has quadroupled in the same time frame, Senegal has trebled All these charities running vaccination programmes and digging wells in poor areas are only shifting the problem from infant mortality to chronic overcrowding on land that can't support more and more people. Antibiotics and malaria nets don't put food in people's mouthes. The tide is relentless and unstoppable, its a world problem -
Funny that ! who would have thought it? What a fortunate coincidence???? Once they put in a distress call wheels start turning and they get rescued and towed in. Up to twenty self employed volunteer lifeboat men lose a half a days earnings and the RNLI lose six engine hours on a craft that costs anything up to £2000 per hour to put to sea given all the hidden costs. The RNLI is a charity manned by volunteers, Lets not forget that.

Ah well, they made the mistake of applying through the proper channels

If only it was that simple! France won't take them back without paperwork to prove they came from France. Which of course they haven't got because the French are super careful not to give them any paperwork. They are playing us for mugs
-
They already get that, don't know the actual figure but we pay them a lot now
-
We had one on loan for a couple of days and it didn't feel at all ropey, It was actually very crisp steering and gear change etc. Only things really was it was a bit plastic on the trim side and not the quietist but on a par with a berlingo for example. The problem for my OH is that they couldn't supply an automatic which was the clincher. So she bought a secondhand Jazz instead
-
We looked at one for the OH recently. They are not at all bad, a bit basic but thats a plus IMO. The are Renault

You have to remember that in America there is no police complaints organisation to police the police. They can do what they like, and because the sheriff is an elected / appointed job there is always institutional corruption. Thats why so many people mistrust them

I agree but most of them haven't got passports so it becomes very problematic.. When Israel started deporting people without passports to a third country that was prepared to take them for a fee, (somewhere like Uganda) it suddenly meant that all the migrants they caught had their passports with them. Anyway they have had to stop that now. Its a big problem. -
There is another problem that nobody is talking about. Lifeboat crews are volunteers who don't get paid. They don't mind getting called out to genuine emergencies but crew members are leaving because they are fed up with getting called out to migrant boats who ring 999 and say they are in trouble
-
You will find its more common than you would think for people to answer the door with a gun in their hand in parts of the USA, specially after dark in rural or dodgy areas. That is what a house gun is kept for

The problem is we can't drop them straight back, the French won't take them because they say (with some justification) there is no evidence they came from France. The French are clever, at no time do they allow the migrants to have any paperwork. They are never documented in any way at all so they are deniable Very simple but very clever -
Its probably not the best time to buy when the market is at an all time high

Once they claim asylum we are obliged to house them, feed them and give them medical care by law. The problem is the asylum process takes years in Britain no matter how weak their claim. So the reality is many know they will never get send back.

I'm more than capable of dispatching a fox but a commercial pest controller is not. He's just a man in a van, his need is just to get rid of the thing as quickly as possible. Foxes are not homing pigeons, three miles up the road in the back of a van and they don't come back. In urban areas another one will soon take their place

Not yet I've been out all day
