  1. Yes but the cost of maintaining such a vast inventory of different parts, many of them slow moving is horrendous for all the different makes and models they have to keep
  2. Absolutely nobody is going to justify setting up a factory to make from scratch most of the pattern parts for cars. The vast majority of pattern parts come out of the same factory as the originals but just not in the OM packaging. For example we recently bought a headlight for a Peugeot van. The headlght was OEM and half the price of Peugeot but every little detail was identical to the one we took off. The little numbers moulded into the plastic, the little stickers, everything. The only time I wont chance is is brake pads and oil filters
  3. Oats are a traditional food north of the border and you do find oat cakes being sold in Scottish gift shops. The reason the Scots grew and ate a lot of oats is because it can survive on poorer ground that won't support wheat.
  4. The answer is because GPs are refusing to see patients for any totally unrelated non corvid illnesses unless they have a corvid test first. Also dentists etc On GMTV a man in his 80s was refused tests for bowel cancer at his local hospital until he had a negative covid test. His son had to drive 180 miles to pick him up, them take him 120 miles for his test and 120 miles back. Then they had to wait for the result before the hospital would see him If people could see whats really going on in the NHS they wouldn't be on their doorsteps clapping now Employers, particularly in the public sector, schools, councils, even NHS are demanding tests from employees who have no symptoms but may have come into contact. The rules state you should only seek a test if you have symptoms.
  5. Much of the ammunition sold in the USA is actually made over this side of the Atlantic. PPU is said to be the biggest civilian CF ammo maker in the world by making components for many other well known names under contract. Sellier and Bellot the same story including making a lot of the Winchester branded ammo.. Fiocci is huge too The problem for dealers in this country are fire regs, damaging and unrealistically imposed storage requirements plus punative insurance costs, if they can get insurance, its all crippling the market. Many banks have made life much more difficult for RFDs too.
  6. Thats a very old wives tale I thought had been put to rest twenty years ago. Write to Marlin and ask them about it, they say their rifles can use any commercial ammunition. I've heard it said many times but Marlin would be mad to produce a rifle that was potentially dangerous with the most common design of ammunition available and sell them in USA. Use RNFP by all means if you want to but don't worry about using RN.
  7. A man on TV this morning saying at Rome Airport everybody who gets off a plane is tested and the result is back in 30 mins. You cant leave the airport till you pass I imagine this must be the Chinese test they are using
  8. We buy most of our parts from Bestpartstore it looks like a British website but actually its German. In Germany its illegal to sell pattern parts, they have to come from a manufacturer that supplies the car maker. Prices are well below half, some times a quarter of main agent prices because the main agents inflate their mark up. Never had any issue regarding quality from them
  9. This ^^^^^^ Plus importers cannot afford the storage costs / insurance which are greater than the cost of importation
  10. Because I am Jewish (well, just about! I don't really consider myself to be but my grand parents were) i belong on a couple of Jewish websites that monitor anti Jewish press attention. Every now and then you get a message that says yesterday, this person said this this and this. mostly about Israel of which I am not the greatest fan anyway. This is the link complain now. And hundreds, thousands or people who never even listened to the programme bang in a complaint to the press complaints people. But the thing is it has its effect. After a while the editors get tired of having to reply in writing to all these complaints and think *** don't go there again its not worth the hassle We really need to get our selves that well organised that we can hit back with not hundreds but thousands of complaints every time some richard head like James O'Brian maligns us on air we can hit back from a position of power
  11. Ive been buying .308 ammo for about £38 per hundred from HPS and it was good ammo too. PPU was a good price but thats gone up in leaps and bounds too Our club has sold magtech .38 RN for use in lever action rifles by the thousand. Why is it not suitable? Its not been a problem for us.? except the next lot is going to be a lot dearer?
  12. James O'Brian needs no encouragement be controversial for his own glorification.
  13. I think Boris is playing a blinder, he's got them all rattled
  14. They said on the TV last night organised TEAM sports, the word team was emphasised which made my ears ***** up. Does it say that anywhere in writing I wonder?. From Conner's post, it does still require a written risk assessment to HSE standard which is no small job.
  15. Pierced primers are not uncommon, its just that most people don't notice them.
  16. I very much doubt it, some maybe but not many. Group of young blokes for example .
  17. I agree but no harm being over cautious. I went into a motorway services on the M40 yesterday and there are still people walking round in there not wearing masks, Now they must know the rules, they can't be unaware so what is it? some sort of bravado? Even if they think its a load of rubbish they could just slip on a mask
  18. Very few scopes made in Japan, most are Chinese, even the names you don't think are
  19. I grew up next to the (then) big USAF base at West Ruislip. Whenever a US serviceman got into trouble with our police they were always shipped out
  20. There is no such thing as a covid 19 compliance officer is there?
  21. both the gun shops I go to have those, I think its pretty standard these days. A lot of Jewellers have them too
  22. When I worked at Holland and Holland shooting Ground as a lad I saw many gun fittings and I absolutely endorse what you say, it does work
