  1. I think that you should ,indeed, think about shooting Rabbits but it does come down to pest control. A perm I have about a mile from me (crop) has few Rabbits on it and, with the Landowner in agreement, I never shoot them, Yet another perm 20 miles away is overrun with them and the damage to the Landowner is considerable - in the summer the Wheat field next door loses about 30% of it's crop due to the blighters so I shoot them with a silenced lr 4-5 times a year.
  2. When I was (much) younger you would struggle to find a field around my village that did not move with Rabbits if you walked across it but when the local estate employed a Gamekeeper they were gassed into practical extinction and then Mixy finished then off. I cannot help but think that the determined eradication of Rabbits was rather short sighted when you consider the sport this animal is capable of giving if you consider what a keen price Shoot managers could probably get for a days shooting them. Shame that 35 years ago 95% of my vermin control was Rabbits whereas today I rarely see one locally and it's all Squirrels and Pigeon/Crows. I can still tell ,however, if one has been nearby as they have such a distinctive smell.
  3. I can smell Rabbits - you need a nose like mine .
  4. If you have a Dive shop near you then they will most likely have used bottles for sale, my Aluminium 3ltr 300 bar one was about £70.
  5. Turkish built I'm guessing but the newer Raider certainly seems to be good value whilst still delivering everything you will need in a PCP - you might want to think again about the possibility of introducing moisture into your cylinder - time in Hospital will tell you when corrosion causes the gun to explode.
  6. Check out York Guns price for the Hawke vantage max 4.5 - 14 x 50 AO...£89.- some shops are selling them at over £150.
  7. Totally agree with leaving them alone as there is evidence to suggest that they are actually useful sometimes - used to shoot hundreds every year but don't seem to have the heart for it now.
  8. The thought of a Sparrowhawk carrying even a kitten is a bit far fetched - I had one many years ago and anything much bigger than a Starling was pushing it .
  9. Dunkirk - absolute pants when it should/could have been so good.
  10. Had one on an S200 .22 - no problems whatsoever although more difficult to load the actual magazine than the normal unit fitted to the S410 as you have to align the slot on the magazine with a "pin" in the adaptor body - tricky in poor light but you can do it by feel just needs a little practice.
  11. Starting to look for a suitable scope for the .17 HMR and just come across "Top Notch" scopes - Sportsman GC do a 4-16x50 tactical for under £70 but has anyone any experience of these scopes or have any better suggestions?
  12. Problem solved now - not going to buy the m77/17 but have instead put a deposit down on a used Anni 1717 that will wear a Sak....it's the heavy barrel model but I think the barrel is only about 16 inches long so weight is not going to be a problem, I also only really intend to use it from a hide for long range pigeon and crow scaring although I'm hoping that if I throw enough lead their way the by the Law of averages, sooner or later, I'm going to clip one. Looking for a decent used scope now, any suggestions?
  13. Info comes from the Nigel Brown Gunmakers book. Difficult to determine if they actually made guns or simply bought them in from the Birmingham makers. Probably made them in the early years but as mass production from Brum took over they would have bought them in either finished and put their names on them or "in the White" and engraved and fitted them to customers. Post some pics and someone far more wise than me will probably tell you more.
  14. Finally reached a decision and put a holding deposit down on the above Rifle but reviews are few and far between so does anyone have any experience with this gun that they can share - it's the single stage trigger, heavy barrel version.
  15. Edwin Chamberlain - Winchester st, Andover, Hants 1883-97 then Bridge St. till 1901. Edward Chamberlain s.a.1905-09.Edwin Chamberlain ,s.a. also at 27a Wote St, Basingstoke c.1913-22/ Bridge St. only 1924-40.
  16. I think that if you decide, of your own free will, to live outside the Law then you should forfeit any protection that the Law offers you.
  17. If it doesn't work ask wabbitbosher if he has one hanging around.
  18. I've always paid £50 the pair but cash so it may depend on how well you know your Gunsmith.
  19. "Going to be 100% more accurate than any other PCP air rifle out there" ? I've read some stupid statements on this forum before but that one deserves a whole packet of biscuits. Not going to comment on your posts anymore as your true colours are plain for all to see.
  20. And it costs more than 2 decent PCP's to buy, I have to ask roughly how much they have quoted for it, as soon as you leave the shop you will be shedding £50 notes. After a few months can you let us know just how much better it is than, say an R10, and how they can justify such a ridiculous price tag - always thought that Daystate owned that monopoly.
  21. Excellent choice....according to youtube review it gets more accurate the further you shoot it and pulling the shroud out increases the barrel length. I'm off now to order mine and then feed my unicorns before bedding down.
  22. Has it actually broken ie snapped or is it just not moving when you operate the top lever?

Just a thought - the barrel on the 455 is removable isn't it? - just wondering if it's tight or, if the gun is new, maybe a machining error between the barrel/receiver.
  24. TBH - too many sensible answers instead of the "doesn't really make much difference m8 and if the gun is THAT nice just buy it" - to add insult to injury comes Dekers suggestion that my baby may be a little over weight . That's the problem with this forum - people who know better giving sound advice - going to sit in the corner and simply rock myself to sleep now.
  25. double post - laptop needs a good thrashing.
