  1. Cut a piece of 12g cartridge case to sit in the bottom mount.
  2. Teachers at the school where I worked did not work 5 days a week with children. Teaching assistants did the majority of work day to day while the actual Teachers took one day every week to plan the following weeks lessons - this entailed them huddling in a room that we had to decorate in "relaxing " colours and ordering personal items from the internet and constantly chatting about their holidays.
  3. Bought my 04 plate 4.4 v8 about 4 months ago - yes it has cost more in fixing faults in that time than my previous Saab did in 5 years of ownership but they kinda grow on you. I went to look at a BMW X5 that turned out to be a bit of a dog but there was a RR for sale at the same garage and as soon as I sat in it I wanted one. Mine purrs like only a v8 can and sitting on the motorway in those luxurious leather seats, feeling the car sit down on the suspension after a few miles listening to the stunning music system is so addictive that you can forgive the beasts attempt to bankrupt you at every opportunity. NOTHING drives like the RR and you need to experience it before slagging them off. Maintenance can be reduced by miles if you are a little savvy and steer clear of RR dealers - my last service invoice shows that the previous owner paid £25 per Spark Plug!!!!! There are plenty of smaller garages that specialise in RR's and good ones are well known on the owners forums - besides that basic servicing ie Oil and Filter change can be done easily at home for under £75 using good quality Oil.
  4. Build quality and paint is better on the earlier models - best when BMW owned - if I had to recommend one it would be an 06 Diesel, in 06 Ford bought the marque then sold to TATA in 08 - quality seems to have slipped as the years have gone by. Don't think BMW really wanted RR they only bought them to get their hands on Mini.
  5. No comparison - the one makes Shotguns for Browning as well as producing some of the very best O/U shotguns under it's own name that you can buy. Spend £550 on a Turkish Delight and what will it be worth in, say ,5 years time -spend the same on a decent used Miroku and you will most likely get your money back.
  6. All the parts you need are freely available - even a complete bolt assembly is under £40, Chambers seem to stock loads of parts and are easy to deal with - make sure you change the bolt O ring seal if the bolt doesn't come with one fitted - the S200 has never had a very firm lock up on closing the bolt but it works well, when you finish the work just sprinkle a little talc around the breach, load and fire the gun - any serious leaks will be easy to spot. Absolutely superb guns in every sense and probably the most under rated gun in history, in fact, if Carlsberg made Guns.....
  7. 1/2" Adapter? I assume in relation to fitting a Mod? In which case the AA mod slips over the end of the barrel and is held by a single grub screw - it's a pretty good Mod to be honest. As for the cocking lever problem - what exactly is the problem?
  8. As you have held your cert for so long I'm guessing that you have an "open" cert? In which case surely you can simply say that, until you gain your own perm again, you shoot over a variety of friends land as and when invited? Or am I missing something?
  9. Used to use neat washing up liquid on my Motorbike Helmet - smear it all over then wipe gently away with a clean cloth.
  10. Best a Miroku O/U bought off this site for a couple of hundred notes - not sure what model it is but it's an early jobby and built to last - worst a .410 Hammergun also bought off this site.
  11. Don't knock Tesco - to reduce waste they now offer food on the final selling date for 1p to their staff (called Staff Store), last night the daughter brought home a £25 finest leg of Lamb - at 1p even if the Dogs eat it I'm quids in......
  12. Cannot get anything on my Springers feet - soon as you start to rub them he falls asleep .
  13. Long shot but with pollen being a fair weather problem would some kind of Barrier Cream be any good - like Engineering Workshops etc use, no good in wet weather obviously but might help?
  14. Rape can be a real PITA to shoot, normally because there is so much of it about and after spending time setting up and taking your first shot the birds simply move to a more peaceful field nearby - you can spend all day chasing a flock. Without knowing the lay of your land i.e. nearby woods and crops it's almost impossible to offer any worthwhile advice but basics such as cold Weather and Wind are likely to increase your chances. Rather than spend a fortune on equipment you may never use again I would risk buying, say 30, flocked decoys and a lightweight hide that can be erected quickly then spend time moving around your land and just finding your feet. 30 may seem a bit of an overkill but this time of year pigeons flock together and when they approach a field they expect to see flocks feeding. Sorry I cannot be of much more help but at least if you are out there then you are protecting the crops.
  15. Not worth the time spent reading it - it actually , in essence, says nothing but they are considering legislation with an "open mind" - How else would you enter into a debate on a potential change in the Law?
  16. Time we got serious with Putin - dispatch William and Kate but with the latter dressed in mismatched Shoes and Handbag - the massive influx of Fashion Magazine Paparazzi will be the biggest invasion since WW2.
  17. She really has got some Balls - I'll give her that.
  18. Toz shotguns are made by Tula, I believe, and not Baikal - Toz are built to last and are pretty much indestructible, shame they tend to be cheap as the build quality is superb.
  19. motty - the vast majority of fields around here are blanketed in snow and the Temp has been minus 4 for 2 days running. This particular field for some strange reason had only a dusting of snow on it and ,in the 20 years of living here, I have never seen such a large flock - they reminded me of the huge flocks of Starlings I used to see when I was younger when they took off.
  20. As we cannot get to our normal dog walking fields we have just been walking them around the village - Friday and Saturday one particular field (south facing and hardly any snow on it despite being surrounded by fields under 3-4 inches) there were more pigeons than I have ever seen feeding, the field was grey with them and the noise as they lifted was amazing - not so good news is that I'm supposed to be controlling them - too cold for me and not sure how I feel about adding to their woes in this weather.
  21. Be interesting to see just how much money you would need to spend on the HW to get it in the same Ballpark as the TX - the TX is a lesson for the Germans that we CAN still do it .
  22. Confession time - whilst sampling various Porter Ales () I had to make up 4 bottles on one occasion and tried Old Crafty Hen.....OMG it's superb, but it gets better cos Hens Teeth ,turns out, is even nicer. For years I have passed these Ales by without realising just how good they really are.
  23. Seems to depend on your FEO - I have 13 Shotguns in 2 x 5 gun cabinets - I mentioned that I had fitted a second cabinet on my last renewal (fitted it over a year previously) and my FEO simply said that's fine as long as it's a Police Approved cabinet, no mention of Alarms, Window Locks etc although a bit more strict over explosives storage.
  24. We used to tip the shot out (think it was no9 or smaller?) and refill with no6 from stripped down 12g shells for shooting Rats in a barn - as already mentioned a thin smear of silicone sealant across the top was all we used to retain the shot. BTW - RF cartridges can be reloaded and the Americans seem to do it but getting the equipment in the UK is highly unlikely.
