  1. Whenever I do a room I try and save any floor tiles and use them on the window Sills.
  2. A friend of mine did it between jobs-did quite well out of it by taking several at a time but said that the best earner was to offer a little basic training at the same time-also had permission on farmland on the basis that he picked up any "eggs". Training was simple according to him-the dogs are easy, its the stupid owners that take the time.
  3. Hollis made a plethora of guns in a vast range of grades-you might even have a Belgium made example that would have been supplied in a cardboard box, the quality of the wood is explained by the simple fact that the world was awash with decent Walnut and many "Farmers" guns of that period were adorned with better wood than a modern high grade gun can boast. If it is English then it was born in Brum as like as not even though Hollis had offices in London. But.....even IF it is a low grade English made gun then it has the envious pedigree of having been built by the best Gunmakers the world has ever seen-if you want to put it in a case then do it because the gun deserves to be treated with respect and not because it will add to her value, what you have is a piece of living history and someone has considered the gun of sufficient quality to have her sleeved (many, many fine English guns have not been so fortunate and have been scrapped) so she has enough charisma to warrant someone spending their hard earned on her-may I suggest you do the same. BTW....if you get the case you will spend the rest of your life trying to find the missing accessories
  4. I cannot imagine an ejector wearing so badly that a cartridge would slide over it? Take it to a gunsmith for your own safety, Baikal's are usually bomb proof.
  5. No problems, Scully-I shoot vermin and vermin only on the 6k acres over which I shoot-70% grey Squirrels approx. with the remainder made up by Pigeons, Crows etc-and I try to shoot only when the birds are causing my landowners a problem so, for example, I don't try to alter a flightline with decoys if Pigeons are not flying over the land I cover. Squirrels are a different matter and I shoot them constantly but under circumstances that I don't want to be made public. Hope that helps. Benthejockey-I don't have the remotest idea what video you are on about but I have seen several over the years-I find the one where the young lad kicks the wounded birds towards the bins where they are then tipped on top of each other thus suffocating the still live ones below particularly entertaining - defend "sports" like this and you WILL be ringing the death knell of all shooting in this country.
  6. Never insured my 2, vets go overboard as soon as they hear the word insurance and see it as an open cheque book in my opinion. Took my Spaniel to the vets a while back when he went lame-£90 for the visit with pain killers and a suggestion that we take him back 7 days later for an x-ray (£300) simply to check that nothing was broken?? Did not bother and he is 100%-to be honest I am struggling to recall a single occasion where the vet has made any difference to any of my dogs
  7. "Don't believe everything you see on the internet"!!!!!!!!! Christ on a bike-do you think that someone with a hidden agenda has set up these displays of blood letting. The moronic lard ***** Americans who partake in such "sports" do not deserve to be classed as animals-they are simply way down the evolutionary scale but to hint that these clips may be false or tampered with certainly puts you on a par. Anyone attempting to tease out a rational excuse for box shooting pigeons needs to have a dam good word with themselves.
  8. S200 is simply a giant killer in the airgun world-but shot count of around 40 puts many people off-you might like to consider however that when I go shooting Squirrels I only carry 9 pellets in the mag and 25 in a small plastic clip-never run out to date. Where about's are you-you might find someone local on this forum who would let you try their guns or know of a club nearby where most members are more than happy to let new shooters try their guns.
  9. I would say that the vast majority of PCP's are close to 12ft/lb but you need to remember that 200ft/lb wont kill anything if you don't hit it-sub 12ft/lb Airgun hunting is as much about placing your shot in the right place as it is about delivering sufficient killing power so accuracy and field craft are essential. I have nothing against the Turkish Delights that are available and I am glad that many people find their way into the PCP world because of the value that these guns offer-but the S410 is simply better built, of better parts and of a far better pedigree than anything that Ali can knock up in Istanbul. If you have cash then the world is your Oyster-try as many guns as you can and read as many reviews as possible-ignore the vast majority of Magazine reviews because they are only interested primarily in revenue and not the truth. Don't buy a particular gun just because your local dealer has one in stock and accept that you might have to travel to find the gun of your dreams-if I were you I would be looking at...S410,S200 with multi adaptor, Walther RM8, HW100 ( but not without a warranty) or similar-there are hundreds on various Websites and tracking down your gun is part of the fun......enjoy.
  10. Lets be honest here-are you looking for a bit of sport or do you want rid of Roland? The Rats have obviously found a nice place to live and a good source of food so they will breed faster than you can shoot them so you need to tackle the problem at base level-destroy their living quarters then use poison/traps to prevent a return. If you just want to have the odd bash at Ratty (till they wise up-which is fairly quickly) then an Airgun and some kind of sticky bait part hidden should give you hours of fun tucked up in your garage away from her indoors-added bonus is that she will see you as some kind of Bear Grylls defending the homestead and that's valuable Browny points in the legover department.
  11. Cheap for a reason-get a used S410 for the same money and look after it-it will out perform you all day long and, as long as you don't mess with it, you should get back pretty much what you paid for it if you were ever daft enough to sell it
  12. What we need is a knee jerk reaction to counter the public's inevitable response-I say ban children.
  13. Did you put it away after using it in cold weather? Put a really cold gun in a warm cabinet and condensation will form in minutes-out with my Airgun earlier this week and temp was 2 degrees-left the gun in its bag for an hour indoors when I got home and when I got around to putting it away it looked like it had been in the bath.
  14. Last job was caretaker in a primary school-FAC/SGC+Explosives and no problems whatsoever with my CRB.
  15. Depending on your type of "Target" shooting-some ranges don't allow multi shot guns in some competitions.

    Patches

Essex Keeper Game well and truly over.

    Patches

Shooting went thru a patch where patches were discussed far too much-eventually someone dispatched the whole theory of patches ( causing a crosspatch) and despite the makers trying to patch up the damage we are now seeing a lack of patches.
  18. Christ on a bike-these half witted bints shooting off their unlocked mouths are far more damaging than any gun that I have seen-when push comes to shove its a fact that if you were to place a child and a gun in a room the more dangerous of the 2 would not be made of metal. All of my 3 kids have grown up around guns and I know for a fact that I could leave a firearm in any one of their rooms and it would not get touched.
  19. That's easy to answer-get a 525 or a Miroku-the build quality of some Silver pigeons beggars belief and the Cynergy's that I have come across all seem to have niggly little faults like the forend constantly shooting loose.
  20. Never had the 510 but had quite a lot of experience with the HW100 - typical German tool really, does what it's supposed to do extremely well but the question of reliability just seems to hound it and despite seeing one in action many times and in the full knowledge of it's capabilities I would be wary of buying one. The S410 just goes on and on, I have had mine longer than any other Airgun in my near 40 years shooting and I'm not about to change it anytime soon-hard to find a fault worth mentioning and she is in no way the new kid on the block-but if I could only have one gun then the 410 would be it.
  21. Are you OK Mole?.......only you missed an open invite to wax lyrical over the virtual Smorgasbord of advantages of buying a Turkish Delight......I'm worried now
  22. I have been married for 26 years and ridden motorbikes and had a great many guns since day one. If your partner has a problem with guns and thus will not allow them in the house then she is simply being unreasonable at best and controlling at worst. What next? will you have to change your car? Stop wearing jeans?-I'm all for a compromise but if the other party is incapable of intelligent reasoning then you need to lay down the law. Don't bother messing about taking her shooting cos its not going to help-when she spends £70 having her split ends trimmed you don't go along for a quick short back and sides just to help you understand why women seem hell bent on wasting money do you? She has the problem-do not pander to it.
  23. 100% wot FalconFN says although you could quite happily buy a .177 and use flat nose or heavy weight pellets to avoid over penetration.
  24. The only over priced guns on here are the ones that remain unsold. As far as I can recall, every gun I have bought via this forum has been a bargain and worth far more than I paid, worst one was a Fias that, after having to replace the cocking dog, ended up costing me £200-but its still a lot of gun for that money (its a medalist high rib ej)so cant really complain.
  25. I think the ban was introduced in 2014?
