  1. Great guns if you wear Rose Tinted Specs.....I know that, sooner or later, people will start to collect even the later ones but, IMHO, awful pistols in every way. If somebody gave me one for nowt I would expect change.
  2. Pretty much certain that Sabre Toothed Tigers roam around Yorkshire and I have actually seen a complete skull to prove it, in that village full of Vikings......somewhere in York.
  3. Big Cats?- hasn't the Loch Ness monster eaten them all yet
  4. Does an xs250 really need brakes?
  5. Well if nothing else it's at least doubled the value of the gun
  6. Hi strebor - my gun shoots thru both sides of a bean can at 25 yards (.22) - not a drinks can, a bean can, and will put 5 pellets well inside an inch at the same range-bloody good job your instructor knows better thou - I will make sure that I don't shoot vermin with it .They are noisy and 25 full power shots is all I rely on per capsule but otherwise I cannot fault them for what they are, mine is up for sale only because I have far too many alternatives but if a group of us join up for a plinking session I rarely get chance to use mine myself-very popular.
  7. Good to hear oldpigeonpopper - but looking forward to your unique method of preventing heat loss - if you put warm capsules into a cold gun and they are staying at the same temp then can you come round and do my house for me? Well known fact is that co2 works better when warm and that power drops off with Temperature - my gun frequently becomes soaked in condensation after a couple of hours shooting in the cold and I remove it from the bag indoors - using a co2 gun on vermin in such conditions would be unwise?
  8. Knowing evo he has most likely kept a firm grip on his favourite organ . But it's nice to see that he has seen the light and that his gun list is beginning to look like an advert for AA.
  9. Hand warmers....good idea.....but after the capsules have been in the gun 5 minutes all benefits are lost
  10. Seems that Spanish Gunmakers changed specs on their guns depending on the day of the week - I have a Silver Kestrel Sidelock imported by Gunmark (made by Zabala) that has coil springs to power the hammers - Wingman , also on this forum, has the same gun but with leaf springs fitted
  11. I admit to trying to strip one of said Beasties-after nearly losing an Eye to a Tiny, yet remarkably "Twangy" spring, the expletives that resounded in the Dining room resulted in a very lonely sex life for many days.
  12. I bought the Aldi one and found them pretty much useless - but then I really feel the cold. Looked online at some reviews and decided on the Decathlon xtra warm "Wed'ze" at £14.99 for the trousers and the same for the top - apart from actually looking quite smart they also seem to work well - tried mowing the lawn with them on and nearly died of heat stroke . Only downside is that you have to open an account to buy them online if you don't have a store nearby.
  13. Thanks Chris - my next Laptop is going to be waterproof and Coffee coloured - save me hours of cleaning .
  14. Huge amount of guns were made in Brum so it's quite possible that this is such a gun - but that doesn't detract from the quality in any way as many "best" London guns started life in the same way....some were even proofed in London in an attempt to add extra provenance.
  15. As said - do not buy one until you try one - it might sound a strange thing to say about such a popular Gun but some people just cannot get on with them - my son may as well use a Broom stick as a SP yet he shoots a Winnie extremely well. I would also consider buying a used one as some people tend to change their guns like their socks - but whatever you decide have a GOOD look over the gun as SP quality seems to be questionable lately- wood to metal on mine was so bad that I sent it back and bought a 525 instead.
  16. I have a FIAS Trap gun with a high rib that I have had the chokes opened to Skeet/Quarter for sporting clays - shoots just like any other Sporter just slightly more of a "head up" position - looks cool though which is its main advantage. Just noticed that the gun is a multi.....get it bought!!
  17. Pretty much as everyone has said already but it might be worth noting that when it get really cold the birds will favour heavier cover such as Ivy covered trees or will roost lower down in stronger wind. With an Air Rifle you might be better off looking for a "sitty" type tree where birds tend to land and survey the roosting wood before actually moving into the denser roost area - if you can loft a couple of decoys in such a tree you could do well.
  18. .410's are not an option - I shoot inside a public woodland where Hoppers have been placed in "Risk assessed" areas and firing points/angles have to be strictly adhered to for safety reasons - No firearm other than sub 12ft/lb Air Rifles are allowed under any circumstances.
  19. The thinking man's VW - surely one of the most under rated motors ever made?
  20. Had my S410 longer than any other gun in the past - there may be better guns out there but I fail to see they can be more powerful (be careful with the S410-they can easily creep over the limit with a heavy pellet) or more accurate - if I hold her steady and squeeze the trigger then a hole appears where the cross hairs are every time without fail. Trigger could be a bit more crisp but not a concern , more an observation, and wood could have more figuring but hey ho. At the risk of sounding brash - I can afford any Air Rifle I fancy with price being immaterial but why bother - it's as near as dammit perfect. OMG - STOP PRESS - just noticed that evo has also recommended the S410!! - this man has no blood in his veins - he runs on 98% Daystate Gun Oil.
  21. Been talking to a few fellow Dog walkers and have been informed that Wardens in a local Park are telling people that all Dogs must be on a lead from now on to protect ground nesting birds-this is a public woodland and no livestock or rare species inhabit it - does anyone know the definitive law? And before you ask, my Spaniels are very well behaved and always off the lead in the Park - they are chipped and wear collars and because of this I let them run free in public places where they cannot do any damage but never on private land unless they are out shooting with me.
  22. Start Rescue-£56/year covers me in any vehicle anywhere in Europe recovery/breakdown-but are they any good I hear you say? - Best service I have ever had, when I broke down last year (alternator failure) they were with me within 30 minutes and must have called my mobile 5 or 6 times just to check that I was OK and to update me on the ETA of the Recovery Vehicle. Gone with them again this year and would highly recommend them
  23. Stranger still,Jaymo,- I entered my Reg No and it came up with your name and address.
  24. That's right felly100 - cos Martin is synonymous with being beaten up isn't he?
  25. What a shame that Tony Martin wasn't round for Dinner
