  1. No it's not a miracle-it's called a Pancreas Transplant.
  2. Your chokes are going to mess you up but the gun is just as capable of breaking clays as the any gun on the market-if you get to know the gun and become confident with it you will do just fine-don't go with a feeling of inferiority or it will show in your scores. Have a word with Douglas Burton (Westcott-between Aylesbury and Bicester) about opening out your chokes-Skeet and 1/4 would be my suggestion but read up and decide what's best for you. p.s. none of my SxS guns shoot high-more like centre pattern but it's worth finding a pattern plate if you can-if not then a pond can be useful.
  3. Just like to publicly thank the manager at Tesco in the Buckingham branch-couple of weeks ago my wife and I came across an elderly gent who was clearly unwell - a few lucky questions told us that he was diabetic and his sugar level was obviously very low (I used to be type 1 myself so I know the symptoms) so I sat with him while the other half entered the store and spoke to the manager. In a matter of seconds the manager, along with a first aider, were with us and bought Glucose tablets with them, unfortunately the gentleman was too far gone to chew tablets so, at my request, several small cans of Cola were hastily collected from the shelves and given to us. With a little dexterity we managed to bring him back within about 5 minutes and ,I feel, we had done well. But Tesco's offered more-not only were the drinks free but they offered to pay for a Taxi to take the man home and to send another car, at his request, to bring him back to pick up his own vehicle when he felt able. Don't like modern , faceless Supermarkets but in this instance I feel a pat on the back is well deserved to those concerned in the Buckingham branch
  4. Try cutting/sticking polystyrene ceiling tiles on the inside of your cabinet-use decorators caulk as glue-it helps keep a constant temp inside the cabinet and prevents condensation.
  5. Hate to disagree Whitebridges-but I don't believe that a .22lr is a suitable calibre for Kitchen work tops.
  6. They do own brand honey roast peanuts for a squid-big bag and well tasty.
  7. Thanks Chiefy-currently using AA field and shot a 4 shot one-holer yesterday-fifth pellet went about an inch high but the gun is still dieseling from the service so happy at the moment-she will spend most of her life now in a cabinet with the occasional trip out Squirrel bashing where the range is less than 20 yards every time.
  8. If I were in his shoes I would certainly make sure that I could defend myself-without wishing to turn the post into a police bashing topic I have no faith whatsoever in the police's ability to protect anybody.
  9. I cannot believe that no local farmers are out with buckets collecting this water to help with the inevitable drought in August.
  10. Are you saying that these problems should be water under the bridge by now?
  11. Enjoy your pastures new, Bob-a change is as good as a rest they say-wouldn't mind a bit of HFT myself but have just been given 5k acres of Squirrel/vermin control that I must get stuck into-best perm I have ever had with weekly texts advising me of the hardest hit areas to avoid wasting time-simply fell into my lap-talk about being in the right place at the right time .
  12. The grey "box" is a soil manifold and often used in flats-the pipework should be push fit I believe so I'm guessing you should be able to pull out the sink waste pipe and check that everything is clear-there should be a trap fitted before waste enters this manifold I would have thought.
  13. So in a matter of weeks you have half as many AA rifles as Gaystates and you are considering a third? May I suggest that in the recent past a huge metalic thud must have been heard in the Wirral as, for one person at least, the penny finally dropped . Wishing you well for the new season and looking forward to your experiences with the new guns.
  14. Yes-as far as initial investigations go it appears to be an Airsporter "S" with a full length stock-seem to have only been made for a year before Gammy bought out the BSA spring gun side of the company-they put a rotary breach on the Stutzen and continued to make them till at least 92.
  15. Picked up a very nice example of the above rifle in .22 flavour about 2 weeks ago. Gun was only producing 6 ft/lb so a quick trip to Willards in MK saw her stripped cleaned and polished internally before new seals etc saw her up to 11 ft/lb with the same spring as before (all the work was done for £32.50 inc parts and the best customer service I have experienced all year)-the loading tap was moving side to side and a quick strip revealed the wrong ball bearing in front of a Bic pen spring!! Rang John Knibbs and the lady that answered knew exactly the parts that I needed-£4 for the 2 and they arrived next morning so well done chaps. So there she now sits-next to my Mercury S, near legal power, 10 shot 1" groups over 25 yards and looks stunning-all for well under £200. Anyone had one and have any hints?
  16. Cheapest solution would be to use a well worn piece of a non scratch pan scouring sponge-use a heavy oil and the rust patches should come away-then simply use the thick oil to prevent further rusting (I use EP90 gearbox oil). Otherwise get a quote to have her reblacked/blued-if you do the Donkey work yourself i.e. rubbing down the tubes, then you might be surprised at how cheaply you can get it done for cash.
  17. That's one unlucky Rabbit-just about to slip onto a sharp knife when a Rifle goes and falls on him
  18. Met SSS this weekend (10/12) at DP and just like to say "What a thoroughly nice bloke" he is-pretty confident shot as well although having the poshest gun in the south of England helped
  19. Just discovered that Win 10 has no drivers for my ancient printer (4 years old)-gonna cost me then
  20. Tried to think of a better present for you but no......nothing comes close. Keep here warm, safe and close to you-she has come a long way.
  21. Saying that, Mole, I've not seen the Sun today
  22. Bit of oil should not make any difference-if it was a problem then a dry lube could be used-get it back pronto cos its dangerous and ,personally, I would think hard about using the same Gunsmith in the future.
  23. If you block a number with Talk Talk then the caller simply gets an engaged tone-so when I get an unwanted call I tell them that I am interested but really busy and could they ring back in an hour? I then block the number and smile as I wonder how many times they are going to ring me and think the line is busy
