  1. Hello fellow shooters!! Has anybody ever had or still have a Chessie?? I hear all sorts about them but I think they are just a misunderstood dog and the myths are just that. Im sure you get the odd crazy Lab too. There is a lady with some horses up the road from me that had a very aggressive lab. Anyway back to the subject. I will primarily be using the dog for fowling and some pigeon shooting. As for training I intend on taking the pup to gundog classes then following up what we have done at puppy school. Any help would be smashing
  2. I find myself in a similar situation. Only all the breeders I have been in touch with just havnt bothered to get back to me and the 2 that did wanted the stupid lockdown prices. Saying that I have a lead on a potential litter of Chesepeakes ant realistic prices!!!
  3. Super wagon mate best of luck with the sale but like others have said shouldn't hang around long at that price
  4. Thats very impressive. You might want to consider finding a local person with a machine and start selling them. I would buy one I can use it for my double rifle too
  5. Now thats proper. BRAVO!!!!

Its what ALL the anti hunting campaign groups do. They just lie and play on emotion rather than look at the science. Much like religious groups. This is another example of the type of games they play https://countrysquire.co.uk/2021/01/20/the-rise-of-the-eco-greenshirts/

    Muntjac

Chinese water deer is close. I find it had a buttery taste but find munti take to Indian flavours far too well. So much so in fact before I squeeze the trigger I'm thinking about the massals I'll use to cook it

  9. As a heating engineer I would not go electric. Unless you have a wind turbine in your garden or a load of solar panels on a feed in tariff. @harrycatcat1Your lads boiler just needs the water dropping out of it and the pressure vess needs pumping up with a foot put to 1bar. I always replace the schrader core when I do this and your fine for the next few years. Its the same as a car tyre they need pumping up form time to time. New builds are very different to proper homes. They are VERY well insulated and dont need much to heat and based on this they have thought we can drop gas heating. Also avoid combis. If you have the space have a system boiler with a HW tank. That way if your boiler brakes down you still have an elec backup on the tank by immersion heater. Feel free to PM me if you want any more help mate
  10. Hit the nail on the head there. I will openly say I go to Africa and hunt. I realy enjoy it and try and do some wing shooting when im out there. The birds there are not reared and are totally wild but are only shot at where the numbers are higher. Same with all the other animals. Now about the eating of big/dangerous game. I remember going on a hippo hunt as a backup gun (then things are fast and always angry). We didnt see a soul out on the grounds for 3 days after a two loud bangs half a village of people turned up to help retrieve the 2.5 tonne hippo who ran into the water to die. Once the animal was out within 45mins the meat was gone and the bits the client wanted removed. All I know is deep fired hippo lips are tasty. Buffalo is rather good too. The first animal I shot in africa was a blue wildebeest. I asked what happens to the meat the guide said you'll see. On our way back we stopped off at the local school and dropped him off there minus the skin head and fillets. People dont realise they dont have Tescos etc out there. We can have meat but others cant. Life is life. The same spark that makes a bird fly is the same spark that makes a deer walk and a lion roar. Thats the way I see it anyway
  11. I tend to start whistling as Im getting closer to where im going to set up. Once I feel im happy with where I want to be I just say 'good morning anybody out there??'. Thus far I have had no reply but on a few occasions there was another fowler about 100-150 yards away so plenty far.
  12. Try telling that to all the ***** walking up and down the fields around my house after driving there on the first lock down. I even had a couple tell me I shouldn't be shooting. They soon shut up when I pointed to there car and said I walked to get here you didnt and your trespassing
  13. I cant see how a solitary morning on the marsh where I tend not to see anybody would be a bad thing. Yet as a heating engineer I can go see 6-8 customers a day nothing makes sense. Lets see what BASC has to say
  14. I agree mate see far too many people like that in Norfolk. I loved going through Burnham in my old Lightweight Landy when I stripped it down to ally for the repaint. Morons would park in the middle of the road almost they soon stooped once my landy became multicoloured from there paint 🤣
  15. Im after a dog for fowling but cant justify the going rates. Its crazy
  16. Did this last night and turned out well Ingredients Serves: 4 4 goose breasts salt to taste 1 dash dry vermouth 1 tablespoon grated orange zest 1 orange, juiced 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon dark brown soft sugar 1 clove garlic, finely chopped 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Rinse the breasts in cold water and place in baking dish. Splash with vermouth, then season with salt; set aside. In a medium bowl, combine orange zest, orange juice, lemon juice, dark brown soft sugar, garlic and soy sauce. Season with mustard and caraway seeds. Pour glaze over breasts in baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until no longer pink and juices run clear. Baste at least twice during baking. I halved all the ingredients as I only had 2 breasts but I will be doing it again and feel it would work well with duck too
  17. Antis are a very funny but dedicated sub species of human. They are probably on PW too just looking for things they can use. In fact I would say they are rubbing there hands over this thinking they dont have to do much to cause arguments in the community
  18. That sir is precisely what I have been doing and TBH it seems to work (at least when I hit the birds) Once again thats how I have been navigating and taking back bearings with my compass too. Im very interested in the cunning plan you had 🤣
  19. Well the nice thing is we dont often get thick fog. I'll give the wall another go but this time get there later than I normally do seeing as the geese wont be up until later
  20. Seawall or mud given the choice and its safe to do so?
  21. Will do mate. A dog will come but like you said I just need to keep going and learning
