This sums up what has been happening to this forum over the last five years. I don’t post a lot, don’t have the time. But I welcome those who do. There used to be a day when this was a nice community and this post would have sparked a nice thread. Now it's full of people just jumping on peoples backs.

So a working man, who gets little shooting opportunities, is expected to forgo the odd invite he gets a year, to honour a commitment to beat on a big shoot, for little more pay than the fuel costs to get there, and for the guns to look down there noses at him!! Honestly what world are you living in. I go shooting and beating. But I’m not turning down any shooting invites to go beating. Ask yourself, how many times do you think the guns on big shoots think about you?? Those saying its all about the Keepers job! Beaters show up in all weather, to work for little pay, certainly far less pay than the Keeper. If anything the Keeper owes you, not the other way around! Get a grip.

Take what you can from the bird, the rest leave to nature to make good use of. You owe it, if nothing else to your quarry. I go duck shooting but I only have time to prep and eat the breasts. The carcass is put under a hedge for the rest of the wildlife, be it a fox, buzzard whatever to make good use of. I rest easy knowing it hasn’t gone to waste and has given something else a good meal, which in the case of Mr fox means its had to kill one less thing! Putting a carcass in the general waste bin, when there are viable alternatives, is despicable! (I know its not always possible, so not having a go, but we should try our best to ensure nothing goes to waste)

Seriously! Its his mother’s coffin he’s walking behind. He is expected and should be there as her Son. Even prisoners get day release for such events. Think this forum has about run it's course.

I never stated it was the Queens funeral. I said he was walking behind his mother coffin and that wasn’t the time for heckling or a protest. So if he heckles at the funeral as well, then he should be arrested? Just clarifying your view?

WHAT!! Free speech is alive and well, but heckling abuse at a person walking behind their mothers coffin isn’t a commendable act of free speech, its despicable. People are allow to disagree and protest against each other but not in that fashion! How would the rest of your family like it if rocked up at your mothers funeral and heckle you for being a Weihrauch shooter, all in the name of free speech!!

Its completely down to VHD. Shooting will keep a rabbit population under control but will never wipe them out. The opposite to the above I know areas where there were hundreds of rabbits and can guarantee no-one has shot them. And they have all vanished. Once VHD gets in an area its game over for 5 years.
