  1. So based on this, are you saying you think a better approach would be to say we love killing stuff and don't give a monkeys what happens to it afterwards? How is that not "playing into the hands of the anti's"?
  2. This in some ways harks back to the anti foxhunting debates, where the vast majority of the general public see the 'sport' as just toffs on horseback. Driven game shooting is expensive, there is no getting away from that, but it isn't just the aristocracy who have money these days. Like Mungler has already said breaking this down for driven shooting is one of the first challenges. I beat on a commercial shoot and have done for years, so like Salopian I have seen all sorts come and shoot, sure some less able guns take birds that to an experienced shot would be considered a bit low or unsporting, but if that is the limit of their capability, the shot is safe and the bird is still edible I don't see any issue with it. I have seen hundreds of guns have their first ever day in the field and they have all gone away to spread the word to friends and family about what a great time they had. They are now sent away with oven ready birds from the previous weeks shoot (in simple terms) this provides the link between what they have been doing and the end result. Little touches like that help, in my opinion very few people having their first foray into game shooting want birds in feather to deal with when they get home.
  3. Yes it is. I may very slightly round the tip off, I am not clumsy but it went straight through my glove and into my hand the very first time I used it - and it hurt
  4. Yes he had one tusk, ripped ears and busted antler. A proper scrapper. Good body weight though.
  5. First time out and first blood - this may become my lucky knife
  6. And if you are in town it is always worth a visit. Much as I detest the word 'cool' it really is.
  7. They start the day the current ones expire, which makes perfect sense.
  8. Thanks, I am pretty pleased with the way it came out. The handle is chunkier than the one at the top of this thread but I prefer that. I am out tomorrow so hopefully it will get to pop it's cherry
  9. Just finished up a blade (pictures on here) with orange G10 scales, it was easy enough to work with, creates lots of dust, but it finishes quite well.
  10. As per forum rules, please state your price
  11. @activeviii what did you do for a sheath for yours? So as previously stated I got the blade plus the other bits and bobs for Christmas. This lot And a few hours and sore pencil pushing fingers later I now have this. (even went with the poncey antler money shot, sorry about that)
  12. 'Cafe racers bobbers brats trackers customs' on fb is OK for advice, but a lot of poop also gets posted on there You can ask away on here too,a few people who have dabbled have been smoked out by the Puch thread
  13. I think this has run it's course, time to move on...
  14. It arrived today, my current one runs out in February. Just saying.
  15. People have been doing it for years, mostly older stalkers, each time someone explains it to me it never sounds any safer than the last time.
  16. I was under the impression you will struggle to find Superfast 6's during the game season? I hope that isn't true as I have none and a couple of beaters days coming up soon.
  17. About a month ago I witnessed one of the best game shots I have ever seen, and we get some decent shots on the estate including on occasion George Digweed etc He was taking high fast birds over the head of the gun on the next peg and the gun on the peg beyond that, and was killing them with absolute ease (once they had missed with both barrels) I went over to help him pick some birds and he asked if I could help pick up his empties. As they say in Viz 'imagine my surprise' when I picked up handfuls of Hull Superfast 6's (i.e their low end pigeon load) - so if it matters not to someone like that, why would it matter to your average shot?
  18. Nicely done, I assume there is a story behind the hand gear changer.
  19. Download image resizer. Or tell me which folder in your (unsecured) photo bucket account they are in and I will post them for you
  20. Unfortunately - this ^^ I got t-boned right in the passenger side, 110% the other guys fault, and despite fighting for months that went 50/50 As Mungler says everyone a liar these days, the stakes are so high. I know someone who was hit in the back, stationary at lights, the other party is claiming he reversed back into him.
  21. Don't use photbucket, you should be able to upload the images directly, if they aren't too large.
  22. Sorry I forgot to update my own topic, thanks for all the replies. It seems I have an Enzo Fisher blade coming for Christmas which is kinda near enough, so I will get on and make that in the new year. I was reminded I had a folder kit sat in the cupboard for a couple of years as well, so I made as start on that last night, just needs some tidying up and it is good to go. Not mega quality but it will be fine for legs and head duty.
