  1. My Dad has given me a Gucci watch (Its a 9300 model). Dont think its worth a great deal but it looks quite nice on. Problem is he got sick of the battery flattening all the time because he kept setting off the little stopwatch dials in his sleep. He then tried to change the battery himself one day in the garage and lost some bits !! The part thats missing is a little plate that goes over the top of one on the batteries and screws into the movement at one end and also screws in and makes a contact at the circuit board end. He also lost the two screws ! Question is, i assume this is some sort of generic movement as i can see Mr Gucci making his own. How would i be able to find out what movement the watch has so i can look for spares, or would this be the sort of thing watch repairers see all the time and will be able to fix cheaply ? Any help would really be appreciated Cheers Alex
  2. Manchester is the Midlands ?? You southerners always get it wrong !!
  3. I had to call time on my excess eating when i couldnt get new trousers easily off the peg any more (ov er a 46inch waist). 2 years and a lot of graft later and im in a 36inch waist. Over 10 inches off my waist line and i feel great ! Still cant get jeans to fit my thunder thighs though !!
  4. I have used that Zinser stuff but it was a white paint. Used it a year ago and no issues since. When i used to paint over the mould it would usually show through again after about 6 months.

    Ze Germans

Most frustrating i've had are the Koreans. Massive language barrier and not a ****** clue what they are doing !! They will however be taking over the world of engineering very soon !!
  6. I put a brand new top of the range Mondeo on its roof swerving to miss a drunk woman at 3am on a small country road on my way home from work years back. My then girlfriend, now wife, would have been a human kebab had she not decided to go home early instead of waiting for me to finish work and come back home with me. I fence post came straight through the windscreen and through the passenger seat and into the back seat. That was when i learned that it wasnt illegal to wander around drunk causing accidents and nearly killing folk. I would like to think i would still swerve !!
  7. Could you imagine today asking a 19 year old kid to strap himself into a plywood and bed sheet airplane, full of unstable explosives, sit there for hours on end getting shot at by much faster and more manoverable fighters, then drop said explosives and do the same in reverse. All in the Dark. I can only imagine the bravery of these young guys, and it was only a year or so ago that they got the credit they deserved with a Memorial in London. The mind boggles !!
  8. I'll be there again this year, 3rd time running for the Great North Air Ambulance. Hoping to knock 10 mins off last year and get in under 1hr 45min. Good Luck, and keep an eye out for Elvis at around the 11 mile mark !
  9. Why ?? I think its more important to have a stable environment for my kids with minimal amount of upset possible in what is going to be a turbulent time. You may have been lucky if you have been through this and your kids came out the other side with no lasting effects, However that is not true in all cases. I wouldnt chance it. As i said in my post ,personally , money or a few hours spent doing some DIY would be the last of my worries. But just my opinion, you are welcome to your own.
  10. Personally i would just walk away. There are kids to consider and the possibility of them losing their home as well as the upset of a divorce would mean more to me than the cash from the house i sell out from under them. There is more to think about than money in these situations. Just my 2p worth but there you go. Hope it all pans out for you.
  11. Same in my house with ZULU. Best film ever made and i must have seen it hundreds of times. Missus has never seen it all the way through and thinks its rubbish - And she's welsh !!
  12. Sorry to say this mate but you are never going to see it again. Used to happen all the time when i worked in clubs, one useless kid on duty in the cloakroom and things are bound to go missing. Chalk this one up to experience and learn never to leave keys in pockets or wear a decent coat to a nightclub.
  13. They are pretty good fun, i have done about half a dozen various ones around the country ranging from 5K to a really tough 10 miler in the lakes. You get very cold, very wet and very muddy but its a great atmosphere and for me it gives me something to keep focused on and out of the fridge ! I will be entering a Major Series event at Bramham near Leeds in March - Its too cold for it until then !! Enjoy if you do decide to do it.
  14. Think yourself lucky they only smashed your window. When i had my shogun done over on my drive they punched both front door locks through the doors to get in for the locking wheel nut key, pulled all the kids car seats and buggies out and left them in the pouring rain while turning the car upside down to find the key. They then stole 3 wheels and the locking wheel nuts, bolts etc, but left one on which then had to be cut off. Final bill was nearly a grand on new kids stuff as i refused to put my two babies in car seats that had been fingered by theiving scum and were soaked through, the bill for the car came to over £4000. Funny how my trucks seem to get done over every year either the week before or after Appleby fair !! Coincidence ? I think not.
  15. All my XXL stuff went on here because i drastically recuced my bulk, so maybe we are 50% fatties and 50% Body Beautifuls ?

    Working Notice

I have had experience of this lately. One of my assistants upped and left only giving a weeks notice when he should have given a month. Basically there is nothing the employer can do to enforce it. The cost of an employer taking an ex employee to court to try and sue someone would be prohibitive so that will never happen. As HR said to me ' we cant force him to work here' At the end of the day if you want to go, just give them a date and then walk. But be under no illusion that all bridges will be well and truley torched !! Hope all goes well with the new job.
  17. Black Jack we used to call it, also good for filling your mates boots with if you were feeling nasty !!
  18. PM Replied to Dolly dip, you have first dibs
  19. Sorry but Seeland is absolute tat from a company who wouldnt know what customer service was if it jumped up and bit them on the ****. Quality akin to that from a sunday market stall as far as i can tell. Just in my humble opinon of course
  20. Free car dog cage. Triangular shaped jobbie which fit lovely in my old x type estate. Dimensions are approx 36 inches deep X 25 inches high and sloping to 13 inches deep across the top. Suitable for a big lab or possibly a couple of small spaniels. In decent nick, just dont need it any more Pick up from the Darlington area only. Cheers Alex
  21. Tom Kitchin's place in Edinburgh, Near the castle. My first taste of 5 star dining and i absolutely loved it. The food and service were a real spectacle. The staff were very knowledgable about the food they served and each dish was explained to us in great detail before we ate it. Wasnt too badly priced either.
  22. I also own a caravan. I'll admit it - I love it !!
  23. Sorry but looking for face to face only.
  24. I had one out to my house and he charged £60 to drill out and replace a door lock. Not sure if it would be more or less for a gun cabinet ? Have you tried sticking a flat bladed screwdriver in there to see if you can turn the remians of the key ? If you can get it open then the locks usually just unbolt. If all else fails attack it with a crow bar. Good luck
  25. I might pop along, i am over in the lakes that weekend camping so will drag the wife and kids with me.
