  1. Until there is a proper deterent to these crimes, they will keep happening. I was told that when my car was done over on my drive and the garage window was levered out of its frame, it would be classed as a petty crime. This cost me the best part of £5000 to put right (Well between me and the insurance company) The police were not interested at all, the only reason they came round was to give me a crime reference number for the insurance. They have never tried to recover any stolen items, in fact they didnt even take a description of any of them ! Now if i had walked into a bank and demanded £5000 with a pretend gun, im pretty sure i would have been tracked down and sent to jail for many many years. To me theft is theft, simple. You take something which isnt yours there should be a consequence. No doubt some liberal leftie will disagree but there you go.
  2. Do the NZ coaches read Pigeon Watch ?? They raised their game somewhat since my previous comment !!
  3. I watched the Scotland vs All Blacks match last week up at Murrayfield, and to be honest the All Blacks looked terrible. As in the current match the ball handling skills were shocking. Nothing much to fear in the World Cup from them if they carry on like this !!
  4. Maybe he lost his money in the bike firm CCM or the Foggy Petronas WSB team ? Who Knows ? Maybe he just fancies a crack at the limelight again ? Personally i think he will crash and burn. Foggy was a god like figure to me and my mates growing up, now of us would ever lower ourselves to watching that ****e on the box !!
  5. I started running about three years ago. I am now 8 stone lighter, have done 3 half marathons and 5 or 6 Tough Mudder type races. I find running very relaxing now, even do it when i'm on holiday. I thought about mountain biking but the time it takes me to get a decent work out on a bike is massive compared to a run. I would suggest you get properly measured for some good running trainers and change them every 6 months or so if you are running around 3 times a week. Run some different routes so you dont get bored and if you can get away with it use an i pod. As far as your breathing goes, try fixating on the noise of your feet on the pavement. I do two thuds awhile breathing out, two thuds breathing in if that makes any sense ! Fixate on it and eventually it will get easier.
  6. On the route we local bikers call the Helmsley TT. Fantastic in the summer for a late evening blast for Fish and Chips in Helmsley
  7. I was on that project for AMEC right at the start, hated it and walked as soon as i could find another job !! Nearest hotel to the site is the Holiday inn, next one along is the travel lodge. Dont be tempted to stay over the far side of the town as its a nightmare in the morning getting to site. I used to get stuck in one called the Watermill which was a dump and miles away. All the hotels seem expensive and none were very good to be honest !! Best of luck with what ever she decides
  8. Alternator at 3 years ?? Surely you would have some recourse with Toyota ?? If not look at getting it reconditioned rather than buy a new one
  9. Sorry but he cant borrow £950 for 4%. More like 17 - 20 % from the banks and around 12% from most other lenders. Thats the real world figures not the offers to tempt you in. Borrow larger sums and the rate drops a bit but under 10K and you will get stuffed. I just put 5 k on a barclay card, Kitchen appliances and granite worktops for a new kitchen, which was 0% for purchases for 18 months, There was no cheaper way for me to borrow a small amount over a short duration. Even Martin Lewis agreed !!
  10. Makes me laugh when the experts tell you not to do it and take to a pro. Rubbish. Just crack on. A gun is just a machine, there is no way you can do irrepairable damage to it unless you take a hammer to it. You may even learn a thing or two about the inner workings of your own gun. The experts only learnt by trial and error, worse case you have to take it to a gunsmith later, but as a bag of bits ! Best of luck
  11. No one is going to admit to being from Bishop !

    Flat Roof Fix

Oh I know its a good price for a re roof, but seen as in her own words, she'll be dead in 5 or less there is little point in her eyes spending 3k of her money on something of little benefit. If i can get away with spending £500 and keep most of the water out for the next few years then its worth doing. Having done a bit more reading today i am going to pack where necessary and ply the whole roof making sure there is a fall, then nail down a felt underlay, then felt adhesive then a top covering of more felt. Its how the IKO web site suggests so must be somewhere near ?? The stuff is purpose made for flat garage roofs so will give that a shot. I'll let you know how i get on in a couple of weeks time Cheers for the advice guys Alex

    Flat Roof Fix

Its attached to the next doors garage, but my granny's is higher by about 4 inches. I did consider the building a new roof over the existing but then by the time i had done that it would probably be just as easy to pull the old one off and start again. I was thinking around 6 sheets of ply at around £40 a sheet plus £100 for sticky tar stuff plus £100 for felt. So for around £500 i could get it water tight again ??

    Flat Roof Fix

No blow torch to be had unfortunately, plus i would probably burn the place down. Was think more of a numpty fix like some squirty glue or tarry stuff from a tin, where the worst that will happen is i might get black hands ?? Just seen the hire comment. Is the blow torching thing pretty easy ??

    Flat Roof Fix

Hi Chaps, My Granny (89 Years Old) has a garage with a flat roof which is leaking. I had a look at it yesterday and its knackerd. The roof rises and falls along the length and water is pooling in the low spots and its leaking in. At some point in the past its been covered with some sort of tar and had grey gravel spread on it. Its the black tar thats breaking up and letting water in i think. She has had a few quotes but quite rightly all the tradesmen want to re roof it and the lowest quote was £2000 plus VAT. She quite simply doesnt have the money to pay this. She also refused to let me pay for it but has agreed for me to try and fix it !! Now my plan is thus. Sweep off all the old gravel then screw sheets of 12 mm weather proof ply over the whole of the existing roof packing, up where the low spots are. I will then use some sort of bitumen to cover the boards and also glue down sheets of new roofing felt and nail it down with clout nails. Couple of questions. Firstly will this work and last at least a few years? Second what can i use to glue the felt down, i was thinking some sort of bitumen / gloopy black stuff ? Third will shed roofing felt be sufficient or will i need something a bit more heavy duty ? I dont have a big blow torch etc so any fix must be done without pro tools. Also i dont want the joints in the felt to let water in so someway of sealing them will be required. So what do you reckon guys ? Is this doable ? I know ,and she knows, that this isnt a long term fix but as she said to me today ''I wont be here in the long term so what do i care'' Comments welcome Cheers Alex
  18. I've got a Lincoln O/U, which is a 28 Inch fixed choke ejector. Looking for £180. I only bought it as i was terrified i would ding my Miroku while i was out shooting game, but as it turns out i cant hit anything with it !! Its a tidy if a little bit plain gun but works well, no significant marks on the wood and the barrels are nice and clean. I'm in Darlington by the way Cheers Alex
  19. To be honest i'm not surprised the last bloke lost it. I'm sure if you shoot there regular he's a lovely bloke, my experience of him was the exact opposite. Found him stand off ish. He acted like he was doing you a favour letting you shoot on his ground. The number of times me and a few mates asked to join as members and got fobbed off was unreal. The last straw was when he refused to let a mates son shoot round with us unless we paid for his instructor to go with us. Prize winning pillock as far as i was concerned. However if its now in different hands i will definately pop down for another look.
  20. Yorkshire Game Fair at Newby Hall the other week, £8 for a wrap with a bit of limp salad. I also have a wife and two kids to feed, £32 for 4 of them ! I just point blank refused to pay and went hungry. We used to love the fairs but at that sort of cost i just cant see us going any more. Shame as its the youngsters who should benefit most from these things and get interested in country sports ?
  21. I have tried numerous times, It seems they are always too busy to deal with me !!

    ahhh ebay

Tell him to post it back, re list on e bay Not worth the hassle of dealing with idiots
  23. I would ring the warranty number first thing and get it logged as an issue, dont wait to find out if its the circuit. They will probably send someone out who will be able to tell you if its the appliance or the circuit. If you wait for a sparky to come out you may find its out of warranty by the time you find out the cooker is knackered. Hope you get it sorted
  24. Hi Hawkeye. I have responded to your PM with my thanks. I work in Thornaby so will definately be giving him a ring a hopefully dropping by to see if he can repair it. Thanks Again
  25. Hi, Thanks for the responses. I'm pretty sure its genuine, My Dad bought it in the 80's i think. The reason he took it to bits himself was he got sick of having to send it off for new batteries every 6 months. The button which sets the chronograph away are on the right hand side of the watch and he used to set it off by accident quite a lot when bending his wrist. It has two batteries in the back and its one of these which the clamp piece and screws are missing from. Sorry, bit of a numpty when it comes to pictures but if the link works its the same as the one below. http://nanatake-papa.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2013-08-07 Looks like it may have to be sent away, i was hoping for a little bloke in a jewllers may be able to sort it !! Cheers Again Alex
