  1. Brilliant day again, made better with the decent frost, hard ground so easy walking decent bird count too. Bloody good shooting from some of the guns felt sorry for one of the guns birds coming from left to right and the gun to the right had very few to shoot. I took this shot as i though it was just a bit different.

I've sent allsorts bia PO. when asked I tel little white lies. Bullets are brass screws cases are copper receptacles, knives have been metal scrapers. Oh no I've dropped myself in it. ☺️
  3. 1.9 205 GTI. Awesome 👌. A Shame it had too much attention from thieves. Driving wise loved annoying other hot hatches.
  4. Young drivers should restricted to low HP vehicles. Too many high performance cars driven by low performance brains. As for older drivers if they are medically fit then why not ?

Dump Cwis on it give him a pair of oars and tell to put it back where it came from.
  6. I only carry on with recall if either I can't see the dog or he can't see me. Lovely example last week when one of the dogs was in high cover crop and had no idea where I was.
  7. I've used a Sealey 12v jet washer now for 2 seasons. Fill up with cold tap water and pour in hot water from a thermos flask end of the shoot. Quick blast off and a rub down.
  8. Freezers full, or it was at the time. It was tuff going, very steep banks and very muddy.. Was after muntjac this wk end but weathers against me so I'll be knocking up a few bangers.
  9. I bought a Viking GE250, not sure but i think there us a stihl connection somewhere, its been faultless really for what i paid. It fills the compost heap with compostable waste and anything that's not it reduces the bulk that goes in the brown bin to less than 25%
  10. Have a look at these type on Amazon, i bought a 6litre one years ago and its been faultless, and used with Seaclean it churns out some very clean cases. https://www.amazon.co.uk/YITAHOME-Ultrasonic-Professional-Stainless-Industrial/dp/B0C81DCMVN/ref=sr_1_23?adgrpid=51872608543&hvadid=259075067906&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1006586&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=607422089033002445&hvtargid=kwd-17466812&hydadcr=28153_1724856&keywords=ultrasonic%2Bcleaner&qid=1700069761&sr=8-23&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.23648568-4ba5-49f2-9aa6-31ae75f1e9cd&th=1

Thank you, i know it makes a change, to my normal twaddle . but this does really annoy me when i see our kind falling out with ourselves.

I joined the march in London where there was over 500,000 people, standing up for what they believed in. I like many others tried to get more to join in, i asked my local angling club Burton Mutual, but the response was as i just mentioned above "we are not part of the ban, they wont touch us" They could not see further than their nose. I fear its far too late and the jaws are locked well into the jugular of all country sports, even though we see a slight sprinkling of defence from few of the organisations it too late and been far too little.

I keep saying over and over again, we are easily outnumbered 1000 - 1, we dont stick together, all country sports are still divided by class and i dont see any alteration in that from 40 years. Packem has more followers than there are members of all of the shooting organisation put together. Why dont all the shooting organisation combine forces get their heads together and fight as one for ALL country sports from farm yard rat shooting to Red stags in the Highlands and pigeon shooting on stubble to Grouse shooting on the moors.

Are the report's of wet boots possibly due to egress from the top of the boots ? Wet sock will wick to dry sock giving the impression of leaking boots. Are waterproof gaiters being worn ?
  16. I had an invite Friday night to pick up on a small shoot on Saturday just 10 minutes away. The decision was a split between high seat Muntjac or this invite to pick up a few Pheasants, once i decided i signed on the dotted line and sent the text to pick up. The going was pretty hard, finding birds in this lot would not be so simple. A couple of fox's spoilt one of the drives.
  17. My 1st experience of a gun shop was in Hatton Derbyshire, i went in enquiring about shot guns, had a very off putting old chap that wasn't interested in offering any help at all. Years later i went into one shop with my ticket in hand ready to by a Sako 75 22.250 Laminate stock heavy fluted barrel, the advice from the old flatulence behind the counter told me i wanted the Rem 700 that he took from the rack, wiped the dust off before laying it on the counter. He actually ask me why i wanted one of those. Needless to say he lost a considerable amount of money from telling me i dont want what i had dreamt of owning one day. It was like a sketch out of the "The Fast Show" Oooo, sir, you dont want one of those Sir, Oh no Sir, You want one of these Sir"

    Scarpa

You can get them re-soled, but at 50% of the cost of a new pair its often not worth the cost, i think its about £80 for walking boots and a new pair at £200 ish its a questionable cost.

    Scarpa

If you go through any posts asking for best boots for shooting i have always recommended Scarpa, im on my 4th pair in nearly 40 years, they have always delivered comfort, wear and price and of course longevity. They look like there going to be comfortable.
  20. The pub does lay food on for those that choose to go, i dont always stay just happy having a pint and discuss the quality of the shooting. LOL
  21. Don't disagree with that, but that was all i had in. Yes, next time your passing, or if im going your way,
  22. Cream Crackered not just the dogs either. Not sure of the bag but that doesn't matter, a good day out, dogs worked well, had a laugh with Harley the yellow (normally with Mrs D) I sent him on a runner in a wood, i lost sight of him as i sent Buster the black on another runner. Could find Harley, not returning on the whistle, not concerned he's doing his usual. And yes he was, sat next to a gun with the Pheasant in his mouth waiting for Mrs D (who was at home) to take it from him to despatch, he'd been there for about 3-5 mins. It wasnt till he saw me through a gap in the hedge that he realised it was only me there. Waiting for the walking gun. This was a long retrieve of about 170 - 200 yds, open field so an easy one After in the trailer after the last drive. Then end of the day, dogs washed off and in the pub for a few Mini cheddars. And of course a pint. Forgot this one
  23. Not sure who your referring to but B Harvey, D Wild, S Kershaw, C Ferguson, N Clarke (M Norris 😬) Ronin all say the same, and none agree that it should be a tight fit, and all for the same reason i mentioned.
  24. I beg to differ. They should be perfectly functional without the rear bush, This is all of course dependant on how true the screw cutting is. If the bushing is tight to the barrel and not concentric with the bore you risk clipping the mod with bullets by pushing the mod off center, basically saying the cheap piece of plastic kind of overrules the very close tolerance of the smith's work when cutting the thread for the mod. The bush is simply there to prevent damage to the internal thread in the mod if knocked and the thread on the barrel. 0.025" clearance @kingsy18 seek advice from a decent rifle-smith, but dont buy into its a precision lathe job that will cost you silly money.
