  1. Hi, yes looks like a Haenel 310. There's a similar model made by Anschutz but I can't remember the designation. They come up for sale frequently on German forums and you see them at shootings stalls at fairs over there. I think the Haenel actually takes a slightly different calibre of projectile to the usual. I know that ProtekSupplies sell the right ammo and occasionally have spare magazines etc which are hard to come by. Great fun for a bit of close range plinking. Not sure about the condition of that one in the picture though. I mean come on that should be taken into protective custody and given a good oiling 😯

    Hades pellet

Not tried them but imagine they would expand better with FAC power as do any hollowpoint. I've had good results with .177 H&N Hunter Extremes (sub-12) though, so it's not to say the design won't still be effective at this power. In .22 on the other hand I never had good accuracy at all. Might be that if you're going to have a less aerodynamic pellet in sub 12 then .177 is the way forward. Will get a tin of the Hades and give them a shot at some point, along with the regular JSBs.
  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-48058693 Article suggesting the highly innovative approach of controlled burning in Scotland, starting next year. To be done by the Scottish Fire Service. A brief mention of gamekeepers but overall ignoring the fact that this has been done for years and that a lot of land for shooting is already managed like this. No acknowledgement that there have been recent fires on land that could have been protected this way already if it was managed.
  4. Not sure I care what you call a ship (be it BoatyMcBoatFace or anything else 😁) However - Is it not more reasonable for a person to have a preference about how they're referred to and for that to be respected, than a boat? My point I suppose is that if people can make an effort to call a machine 'she', they can adapt to whatever an actual person prefers. A ship, or dare I say it even Desmond (sorry Des!), would likely be indifferent on the matter 😂
  5. Leatherman micra for everyday, the knife on that is miniature and non-locking but does the job. I've needed the screwdriver tools and bottle openers etc quite a bit as well as the knife/scissors. As it's a very small multi-tool, I don't think there could be any argument against it. I still don't take it along if going for a drink etc though. Not worth the risk of an overreaction. If in rural area then it's a Swiss and if on private land then an Opinel or a fixed blade.
  6. I wholeheartedly agree with the petition. However, the first comment below it is damaging to our cause. Whilst they're certainly not wrong, it's damaging to our cause to have that language associated with the petition. On that basis, I wouldn't be comfortable putting my name down on this one.
  7. Typical, I asked at every gun shop if they knew of any reloading stalls and none of them did. Did you find out where they had been put?
  8. As above, there's a flash sale on at the minute and they've got Purdey Paper Case 30g 7's for 7.50 a box. Try finding paper case for £7.50 normally!
  9. Absolute nonsense, it should be nothing to do with whether they like shooting sports or approve of private firearms ownership. It's about being asked a question in a professional capacity and they should just answer it as appropriate! It's like that case recently of an Edinburgh practice who 'conscientiously object' to owning guns...unless you pay them £200 in which case no worries they'll sign you off. Robust morals indeed. There needs to be a UK consensus on this. If they need to charge a fee then charge £25 or something not too high, make that fixed for everyone and don't refuse to do it. GPs can't refuse people medical care on the basis of other criteria so I don't understand why they can withhold a service because they disapprove.
  10. I've ordered from Folkstone Engineering in Kent and had it sent up (cases, shot, wads etc). There's a hazardous goods delivery charge for primers but as I had 10KG of shot etc in the same package, wasn't unreasonable cost. If you want to shop in person then contact Ed at Edinburgh Rifles & Sporting Goods. He stocks powder, primers etc and can order in anything else you need e.g shot. ERSG is my usual RFD and I purchased some Lil Gun powder from him for my .410 loads. I was going to do that last year but couldn't find any evidence of them being there either online or indeed when I was there. Pretty disappointed by Scone overall recently. Expensive tickets, extra for parking and not even that many guns. Couldn't find a single shotgun cartridge or cartridge loading component either!
  11. Try Quickfire Auctions online. One of the sellers there will likely be able to help out. Obviously you'll need to collect in person etc.

    Air rifle

For that budget check out Remington Express models. Good guns for the money and lots of them around.

    GDK cabinets

Got a vault-locking GDK. Absolutely solid. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I needed to. 👍
  14. Had this with Eley Blues and occasionally with English Sporter. Can be a pain when shooting clays as it looks not unlike bits of broken clay
  15. Improved Cylinder/ 1/4. Flush choke. £10 posted
  16. Where is it in the picture you ask? Well precisely! - it's the finest of camouflage patterns. Ideal for the pigeon hide. I believe this is military surplus(?) Never worn. Was given it a while back but I stick to my flatcap. £5 posted
  17. Freeview signal booster. Family member bought this a while back to try and boost TV signal in rural area. Turned out the issues were due to a different fault so this wasn't needed. I don't think it's even been plugged in before and just been sitting in a cupboard since. Has all the bits including instructions. £12 posted
  18. No idea! I'm 100% against any further regulation but you can imagine some nonsense like this coming about
  19. The most workable licensing solution would probably be something along the lines of the airgun one in Scotland i.e licensing the individual rather than specific guns. Having to prove 'legitimate' reason for ownership etc. Either way, there will be a significant amount of heritage lost through 'amnesties' etc if the law changes. I doubt the police will be advising individuals that there is potential historical/financial value in what they hand in. It'll just be straight into the crusher.
  20. There might be an RFD nearby willing to offer storage at reasonable cost?
  21. The powers that be are working themselves up a bit over reloading. After hearing that people were reloading for obsolete calibres I think they'll try and crack down. Was that RFD case not actually in Manchester(?) I just read in the Shooting Times this month that there is further debate about regulating antique and obsolete guns. I was very disappointed to see that BASC haven't released anything regarding this recently. Now is the time to start buying Section 58!
  22. It's the complete opposite of conscientious objection if they'll actually sign them off for money. I'd argue that if money is the motivating factor, it is considerably less 'moral' than refusing to sign them at all. It just says 'Our principles can be purchased for £200'.
  23. Hi all, I'm after the above, one of the black alloy/steel ones rather than brass. Ideally with screws but can source these elsewhere if need be.
  24. Time for an update. As below, followed advice from the thread and got the mounts on with out much issue. At the last minute I decided to buy the swivels from a UK seller instead of China to get them quicker. Turns out that seller was full of it and they did indeed come from China 😐 paid twice as much as well! Left some v.negative feedback but couldn't find a way to report them for it. So anyway after a hell of a long wait I got the work done. Used a Dremmel drill for the stock hole (nice and easy) and cut the bolt at the front down with pliers to right length to not touch the mag tube before sanding smooth. Trouble is I had it out a few times while waiting for the order to arrive and in that time decided that semi autos aren't for me. So after all that fuss I'm getting rid of it 😂 I can operate an O/U quicker and avoid spraying empties all over the shop. Fun experience though, had to try it...
  25. Clean when barrels are still hot if using plastic and that can shift it. Alternatively, switch to fibre and after running a few down the barrels it'll clean up. I never use plastic even on clays just to avoid the fouling issue. There's not much price difference now anyway.
