It will be difficult to find a small enough gun but perhaps a single barrel is the answer? Some of these folding ones are quite light and compact. Or perhaps go for a rested PCP air rifle shooting at static clays? That way could enjoy some shooting without developing a flinch from recoil etc and move on to a .410 when a bit bigger

Check out QuickFire Auctions online, a good source of vintage cartridges. There is a Cartridge Collector's Association which meets up etc but I'm not a member, might be some others on the forum?

Please tell me this hasn't been passed? Registration of deactivated guns, can you imagine the cost of setting up that system...

Overall I think it's something we have a real responsibility to be encouraging and using. What we do is relevant to conservation and the natural environment - we make sure to communicate that every time we're criticised (i.e all the time). We have to be promoting best practice and obviously distributing plastic over fields and wetlands is the complete opposite of this.

You'll need to be a member of an approved target shooting club. Increasingly common now, .22 semi auto or other calibres as revolvers etc. Look for places that do gallery rifle. A regular prone target rifle club won't entertain the idea!

I've got one of the ones from forest camping. Good quality, never had any issues with it. Would recommend!

Thanks for taking the time to do this, looks like the older ones are actually longer! I wonder if these previously came in different lengths for different charges. Or if solid projectile ammo was more common? As in attached picture I used my 9mm for the first time the other day and cases looked like they were significantly over-pressure once fired. Had to extract with pliers each time so only fired a few shots. It seems to have expanded to fit until the end where it's formed a neck. Before firing looked exactly like the example on far left of your image. Wondering what the issue is...

Bit of a strange request but does anyone have old 9mm flobert ammo that they could measure for me? The ones with a brass head and paper case. I have an old 9mm rimfire that I suspect may have a chamber too short for modern cartridges. Wondering if ammo back in the day was shorter? It's a Belgian gun, probably early 20th Century with a Warnant breech system. Thought some fellow cartridge collectors may have suitable examples to measure...

If it's clotted cream (as it should be) then I put that on first. You need the friction of a dry scone surface to be able to apply evenly. The jam's low viscosity on the other hand lends it to over-cream positioning. The exception to the rule for me is when I occasionally get served whipped cream in a small container instead of clotted. In this case the whole bedrock of the scone philosophy is turned on its head because now the consistency of the cream is such that it must go on second. It's a subject I think we all feel passionate about and that unites us as one. This said it's scone not scone so some of you are clearly wrong. 😋

I believe Claygame will be there. You should be able to order in advance and collect. It's quite clearly pronounced 'Scone'. No debate 😂

As above, something that works with .410 up to 3". Nothing too collectable as trying to make reloading economical!

I got my better half a 20 and it still turned out to be too heavy, might be worth considering a junior 28? On reflection should have gone for this but she doesn't shoot much so just uses a single barrel .410.

I've got one with a flip up breach and I think if you have restricted movement with fingers it might not be the best option. You'll need to thumb the hammer down etc and might be a bit of a fiddle. I think a break action would do the business in a more accessible way. Falco do a break open one, as do Chiappa. I got mine from MGR guns near Lincoln and if you're happy to collect then they do some very good prices on the ammo. If I lived anywhere nearby they'd be my go to for that!

That it is, their ammo prices are something else. To be fair I had a great chat with the guy in there the one time I visited, looked at various guns etc. Couldn't fault the customer service in that respect but nothing else about the place was doing it for me! They had a selection of absolute scrap as project guns but at prices for which you could buy something decent elsewhere. Not sure who uses them to be honest, probably propped up by the fishing side of the shop along with the occasional muppet who wants to fork out for an overpriced slab of Hull 😂

Sounds about right though never actually seen one in 20. The 12s tend to be around the 250 mark + depending on model and condition. Not got a bad word to say about them as a brand. I've got a 12 bore as my main gun. Got a 20 bore Lincoln though and as above, nothing wrong with them either! That was around £450 second hand.

Do I understand rightly that holders of individual licences will have their names and addresses given over if a FOI request is made? That would be shocking if it's the case. Not only does it open them up to abuse and potential threats, it's as good as a catalogue of gun owners as where they live! That would be an incredibly serious security flaw.
