  8. When you are buying there is always another house. I have always moved out into rented to ensure a sale and recover the costs (or some at least) on a better purchase price. Before living here I was in Milton Keynes and there the market is very competitive as there are many similar houses and areas. Moving to the country was a bit of a shock as most of the houses are very different and so not easy to compare on price. I am sure loosing the purchase will work out for the best.
  9. Love the truck ditchman lets see some more from you guys. I may moan about mine but still love them to bits yes lots of bits. Do Toyota's actually have oil in them?

  17. Great day with the little guns a nice bag there.
  18. Down on the levels today so many options where to start. Maybe 50 acres of silage cut so lots of shiny short grass fields, tractor sowing maize and another spreading muck on another. Assorted blacks on all of it. My mate chose the new drillings and I opted for the smelly one and I made my way over to the far side of the field setting up in the sun on the only non poo part of the field i could find. I doubled up the hide on the sunny side and then out with the deeks only to realise that the umbilical cord attached to the tractor was moving down the field as it went. Not wanting to have my deeks rolled under the pipe from hell I moved them well down the field at an angle to the hide. Maybe 50m away I was reasonably confident that the birds were most likely to come from the farm past me before they got to the deeks, giving me a sporting chance. As expected most came that way and some of those that chose a different route went past me on the way back. Despite the large numbers when I arrived it turned out to be pretty quiet and I managed 18 (no pics as phone was dead). After each tidy up saw me walking down the longer grass in the field margin to avoid bringing the smelly stuff into the hide. Mate faired about the same with 15, so a reasonable day between us but pretty disappointing given the numbers there on arrival. Barely enough to fill a sack Popped in to see the new pup charlie now 61/2 weeks (picture from yesterday). Then on the way out; there they were 100+ birds on the new shiny grass!!! More for another day.
  19. Some are two wheel drive only. Light on the back end. Mate has just bought a year 2000 for £1000 with 120000 miles its tatty but does all it should.
  20. If they are veering off they are probably seeing you move in the hide. Double net with dark back ground. Sit still, look with your eyes not your head. Wear a hat. Dont move until ready to shoot. Consider half a roof if the birds are coming in high. I like the deeks in a natural spread say 2m min apart each and looking in different direction (none to the hide) and I put mine in two groups with a killing zone in the middle. If you can make them look into the sun rather than you.
  21. LOL Skill? Thats me out then.
  22. A catapult might be useful then?
