I have a number of electricity poles on may land covered by a wayleave. I have served 6 months notice to terminate and now served 6 months notice to remove. I have offered the chance to leave them in place in perpetuity for a large payment. The company has now offered to put the cables underground if i dig the trenches (about 150m at between 1 and 2 m deep). Anyone had experience of pushing the case for removal and won?

This approach would make it too commercial with ever popular **** being churned out leading to an evermore commercial output. I would argue that It does stand or fall from the quality of its output but that quality is measured using objectively rather than through cash. The BBC provides a fantastic service and quality of broad cast unmatched the world over (or at least in the bits i have been to). It sets a standard of television that is reflected in the quality of the commercial competitors. When i travel to Europe and see the standard of broadcast, ever chasing the next income receipt and the number of bbc repeats I value the service even more.

Where is everybody shooting this season?
oowee replied to fuzzypigeon's topic in Stalking & Game Shooting
First day of season last Saturday was a bit more miss than hit. Will shoot again in two weeks. Had a day out on walk up shoot and saw best part of 200 pheasant and 10 partridge and had 12 off there. A few duty shoots in between. Just booked to go to South Africa :) in may. just to make up the numbers. -
Take a look at Empiric shelter the investment in Sipp and ISA avoid capital gains tax and the inevitable dodgy let and enjoy capital growth and revenues.

My pup was let out every hour or so and praised using the toilet word and ruffling the grass. Through the night it was left but if it murmured i let it out and again praised. Now at 12 weeks now it will do a wee on command and number two if it needs one. I still watch it if it moves within the house just in case.

lol. Stick with it and it will be sorted before you know. I share your frustration with stuff like this. It seams so obvious they should just get on and do it that makes me uptight before i even start!!
-
I share the frustration. Call from farmers the birds are there but they are not hanging about and bags are small. Need to be seen :-) on these duty shoots. I was on Barley last week just showing and had about 15 passing birds but only three into the deeks.

During my FAC interview the FEO said he would approve the field behind my house for .22rf and to put it forward once the ticket came through with any other land for approval. Its basically a field of about 140m long rough pasture climbing about 2m at the top from the bottom, behind is a hill about 50 meters high not mine but I have permission from the farmer for shot to fall on it. I would like to build a 100m range and build a backstop suitable for .22rf. Does anyone have any experience of building one? A simple earth bank would work but i want to minimise land take as the farmer takes hay from the land and also puts cattle and sheep on it. Ideally something like a pellet trap as for air pellets but for bullets would be ideal, as i could take it up the field. It might be loud? Can you buy them in the uk? Any ideas welcome.

Application went in two months ago. Told within a week to submit 646 form otherwise it wont be processed. Land was cleared end sept, interview middle October. Waiting for completion advised no time frame but maybe one month from interview. Interesting that they told me no application for centre fire would be approved until completion of rifle safety course.

Do they still trade? Can you let me have contact details pls?

We have loads here.

Bit big for pigeon? Nice bags.

I like the look of this scope.

Thanks for the advice. The pellets you reference where do you get them and how do you know they are made by JR rather than for Bisley?
-
Great hide. I have done the same (not quite as open) in standing wheat when an area in the middle was down. I didnt think it would work but it did.
-
Or maybe the pigeons got him

Just ordered a .22 Daystate Air ranger (40FPE) fac in anticipation of my ticket coming through . The gun shop says I should use standard daystate soverign pellets (15.9 gr) rather than heavy weight ones, to keep up the pellet speed. I realise that different rifles will perform better with different pellets but what do you think as a starter for ten for pellet choice?

One smart motor. It needs some mud

This is what we do. I have a 5kw in an open plan house and we use the doors to regulate and as a last resort open the solar chimney to bring in a cold draft. But cleaning the glass i just use apiece of wet kitchen roll and wipe it off.

Great day motty and good shooting. Off to the cut maize in the morning but i doubt i will see so many pigeons. I bet here on the levels i will see as many egrets and heron as you have pigeons in this picture

Looking forward to the advice on this. My cocker comes every time it feels like it otherwise it lays on the floor and stays still. lol
