  1. Cheers kenholland, I am sure your day will come. If someone with my lack of skill and ability can do it anyone can.
  2. A likely story indeed...easy to say such things without any proof but as we are so trusting we will take your word for it so...well done mate, fantastic shooting.
  3. I hope such things dont go on in your new part of the world
  4. No use to me mate...my shooting is that bad I had to get a 3 shot The one advantage of a muzzle loader would be that i could have a few seconds where I believed I had shot one..until the smoke cleared and then disappointment cheers bud
  5. I shouldnt ask but lets have your definition of "real guns"...I know if it was rifle shooting it would be a .22lr but I would like to be educated on this matter.
  6. Not what I am usually called but thanks. In case anybody else asks the things I get called rhyme with Banker, runt and trucker....to name but a few.
  7. U - I almost cried I enjoy your posts and your great sense of humour and the fact that you are prepared to say things most people wouldnt. You also take the abuse well. I never take offence, it is good to have differences of opinion, even though you are usually wrong As I said, keep up the good work and keep your posts coming mate. if you ever fancy a trip to Mid Wales i will happily show you how the other half live (the poorer relation of course). mike
  8. +1. The best .22cf argument is not a good one to get into (again).
  9. Good photo, how do you get on with the SXS?
  10. +1. Decoying pigeons last year and a sparrowhawk knocked a full bodied flocked decoy off its feet..then went and sat in the tree wondering what the heck had happened.
  11. Shot a few on the weekend. A few were making maiden flights from tree to tree.
  12. I find somewhere out of site to "chuck" them, a small wood, rough patch of ground etc. Out of site, out of mind. Not really inclined to go down the burial route as the hymn signing gets on my nerves
  13. I dont ever like seeing an injured animal and I wasnt having a go. I think that every shot requires a judgement call (range, calibre etc etc etc) and a bad shot is a bad shot. I will chest shoot for preference with the .243 or .270 but generally head shoot with the .17 hmr (only at sensible ranges). Keep up the good work bud.
  14. Cheers Gents..worth braving the weather for such kind comments alone.
  15. I would need a mighty tash and some shooting ability to claim such a title.. but cheers for such praise.
  16. Well done as usual. I am shocked to see that you have missed the total of the second pic. Did you misplace the large numbers you hand up in front of the camera?
  17. Well done U. Not sure I agree with you about not taking headshots...maybe just a case of a little more practice for you
  18. Friday afternoon I got a call to say that one of the farms had recently reseeded a grass field which was being plagued by crows. I was expecting the actual numbers to be far less then I was told (pessimistic as I am ). Nice 4.30 a.m saturday alarm clock and all set up by 5.30 a.m. Unfortunately the weather was not at all kind and despite waterproofs I got a little wet. Set up with a few full bodied flocked decoys (12) and the corvids came in well for the morning with 70 by 12.00. As usual it slackened off for a while and then they came in slowly for another couple of hours. At 84 down and despite changing the pattern a few times all went quiet. As I have never achieved a century I decided to have a wander down to the rather noisy rookery at the bottom of the farm and see what was what. A few adults and branchers later I finished the day on 102. The farmer was very happy, I was happy and soggy...all round a great day despite the weather. Finally managed to get the hang of my new Winchester SXP (3" version so no recall worries) shooting the 102 for 146 shots. To be fair the last 18 or so were virtually stationary so no excuse to miss these. After getting soaked the weather looked a bit kinder for monday so yet again out of bed at 4.30 am and all set up for 5.15 on another permission. I have shot the crows a fair bit over the last few months so was not hopeful. Mix of full bodied and a few rag decoys saw the corvids coming in well for a few hours. I decided to move about 1.00 as all had gone quiet after 44 in the morning. As usual I found a fair few in one field in front of the barns but I never seem to have any luck here but thought I would have a try. I managed to get one of the barn doors open that looks out onto the field and set up just inside the barn. Unfortunately there is a set of power lines in front of the barn so a case of choosing shots very carefully. Had another few hours managing a total for the day of 70, some enjoyable shooting and the nice weather helped. The photo shows the mornings tally.
  19. Well done, sounds like an enjoyable outing. Always great to get the long shots
  20. Well done buddy. Always worth asking.
