  1. If the weather man is to be believed it’s going to be 18+ degrees next weekend. So my Sunday will be spent harrowing.
  2. Same **** different way to spoon feed it to the public. This country is actually going to hell in a shopping trolley faster than it is possible to imagine. They banned digging badgers because of badger baiting but the only ones badger baiting were chavvy pillocks that wouldn’t have known the pointy end of a spade from the handle. They banned handguns because some nutter decided to shoot people. Machine guns are banned because terrorists use them. Hunting with dogs was banned because it wasn’t fair that only posh people did it. Hare coursing was banned because apparently that was cruel. Yet I can run rabbits with my dog or use a pack of terriers to kill rats but if they hunted and killed a squirrel I’d be in breach of the hunting act. It’s a bloody joke. The hare population was a million times better off when coursing was allowed now a lot of estates want them murdered so the ****** don’t get on their causing a menace. The fox population was better off before the ban because hunts had a vested interest rather than watch them get decimated by rifles. The badger population was kept in check when you were allowed to dig them rather than the huge over population we have now, £40 a badger to shoot them when the cull comes? You can bet I’ll shoot every single one I see until there’s no more on my permissions, that’s not population control it’s paid extermination. The people that govern our ways in the country should have to experience what it’s like first hand before they’re allowed to make a decision that doesn’t effect their livelihood.
  3. Frankly £26000 is a drop in the sea compared to the monies the government wastes. It’d probably cost that to replace a light bulb in Westminster.
  4. Anyone who knows Haimwood sporting would have seen, up until the last 18 months or so, a large number of different horses right next door to the shooting range. On the whole they never cared about the shooting at all. And sundays were noisy old days at Haimwood. Even when I rode past the shooting ground they never really bothered. And I had some right horrible lunatics that probably needed to be on the sharp end of a shotgun! It’s mainly the owners that are the problem.
  5. Fallow are hard work unless you’ve got loads of connected ground to go at which I haven’t. Round me they’ll be in one area for a day or two because they’re on my cameras and then they’ll be gone for weeks. They get hammered round me so they’re quite nocturnal and you’re really just relying on them making a mistake. They can also see round corners, smell noises and hear smells. If you’re lucky enough to have some slightly less wild than mine I’m very jealous!!!
  6. https://howesmodels.co.uk/product/12-volt-7ah-rechargeable-lead-acid-battery-2/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI46D0w6a24AIVQ_hRCh0RYghjEAQYCCABEgLDb_D_BwE I bought this battery which I would have thought would do the job. And I bought an adaptor for the cigarette and to crocodile clips to connect to the battery. Turned it on and the high beam was slow to power up and when it got as powerful as it was going to get it was a poor/weak orange beam. The low power bulb is fine. So what do we think??? Too much resistance from the adaptor? The cigarette lighter end on the lamp is a plastic moulded jobby so to remove it and hardwire the lamp straight to the battery I’d have to chop it off.
  7. I’ve found in my collection of treasure a Clulite LA4 which after a brief google appears to be this one https://clulite.cluson.co.uk/spotlights/246-la4-lazerlite-1million-c-power-db-cp.html Id forgotten I had it. Very handy for lamping rabbits out of the car window when I have permissions I can drive around but not so handy when they’re wet! Do any of the PW boffins know what battery is need if I wanted to make it portable? I know I’ll need an adaptor to connect it to the battery from the cigarette plug end.
  8. Getting old is rubbish, as a young dog he’d run out with me on the horses every lot I rode, he must have jogged thousands of miles over the years! He’d work anything and everything but barely get a mark on him and he was the softest dog going...unless you were small and furry. As a pet dog he put many a ‘proper working’ terrier to shame. And sired many litters of hardcore workers. Now he like a to bark at the sofa and wee on the step daughters Pe kit bag 😂🙈
  9. I’ll have a large bottle of nice single malt whiskey cheers 😜
  10. 🙈 it’s one of those bloody words I can never spell!!! For the abuse you two have got to buy something now 😂
  11. I was being fasetious but I shall amend the advert accordingly 👍🏼
  12. I’ve got 1 box of 105gr Amax 6mm/243 calibre bullets. There’s 85 left in the box. £15ono. I’ve got one box of 155gr Amax 30cal/308 calibre bullets. There’s 45 left in the box so £10 Ono . Ive got a brand new, unopened (I think) set of quick release Pachmayr sling swivel stud thingys. It’s got the male and female parts and identifies as gender neutral. Offers around £20. Ive got 20 once fired 223 Winchester cases. Most of them have been tumbled so they’re shiny but there maybe one or two that’s straight out of the gun/pocket and into the mix with the others so it might not be shiny like the others. Let’s say £7.50 for them posted. Ive also got a vision fitness cross trainer. It’s had little use. I used it for a few weeks after I broke my leg April 17 and before then it was my father in laws and I can pretty much guarantee he’s never used it for anything other than hanging washing on. It’s been stored in the garage so it’s a bit dusty but otherwise a really good machine. I think there’s a non slip mat to go with it as well. It’s heavy and damn awkward but does come apart and will fit in a car. I will repeat it’s heavier than the scourge of brexit on Theresa May so I won’t be posting it but I will wrap it in a few bin bags and let a courier wrestle it if you want to arrange one, otherwise come and fetch it ladies and gents. £100. Ive also got a bellman and flint terrier locator collar, box and charger. The newer red one that superceeded the old green/yellow pieps one. My black terrorist is 14 now, senile, semi incontinent and smelly - no he’s not called ditchman. (Sorry ditchy 😂) So he’s not working any more and the only thing the wife’s terrier will bite is probably me and she doesn’t need a locator for that! I’m in 1/2 a mind to keep it so I can replace the old dog but I’m not sure so £355 Ono and I mean the N part. All of the above can be collected from Shrewsbury/Market Drayton or posted for a few squids extra. I’ve got pictures of the pachmayr sling swivels uploading to flikr as we speak.
  13. They’ve just played a blinder at step daughters school. Sneaky ******* were wearing smart watches to circumvent the no phones rule. Friday just gone saw an email sent out banning them at school. We’d warned her they would be getting banned in school before too long but one weekend with her father she bought one anyway and now it’ll be largely obsolete because she has no reason to wear it.
  14. We have had the snowpocalypse forecast so I took full advantage of the hard frost and drove a load of haylage up to the field horses and too pity on the pregnant ewes and brought them off the bank fields into the yard and gave them some hay in the stable in case the snow drifted like last year and.....nothing! I want a snow day tomorrow so I can go and walk around a new permission!!!
  15. I had a slab of fiocchi 32g 6’s fibre was for £50 yesterday from wynnstay.
  16. It’ll be worse tomorrow if the frost is as hard as they’re saying. And I think it will be. It was -1 by 5pm when I was out looking for pheasants. As a side note pheasants that decide to fall and die in icy puddles at -1 make your hands really bloody cold!!!!
  17. The best thing about the snow and ice is it stops the news bring exclusively blooming brexit 😂 we’ve got ice and a skittering of snow but nothing really. But the trip to work has taken forever because people can’t drive. Hoping for a bit more tomorrow and a quieter commute...or a day off to go shooting 😂
  18. It’s all part of an anti shooting agenda over all. So potentially 4 antique firearms have been involved in violent crime. How many plastic BB guns have been used in armed robberies? I bet it’s more than 4. How many axe handles have been used in violent attacks? I bet it’s more than 4. How many terrorists used cars, vans or lorries in violent homicides? More than 4? Back on September the 11th how many planes fell out of the sky killing hundreds of people? They killed more than 4 people. Where do we draw the line? Ban everything? The most commonly used firearms in violent crime are illegally held and obtained. The bank robbers friend the old dawn off shotgun, 9mm handguns because they look gangstaaaaa and the good old AK47 because it’s cheap and almost indestructible. All of these are illegal to own. You wouldn’t even get a 9mm for HAD in this country I don’t think. I could be wrong. Instead of going after a perfectly legitimate and expensive hobby why don’t they get their act together and do some actual policing and target the actual criminals. Removing legally held firearms from legitimate owners would be a huge mistake.
  19. Last time I sold anything and was payed by PP and my funds were kept on hold for 21 days Ron something similar!
  20. That’s a bit of a broad sweep mate. There’s occasionally some dodgy going’s on especially on the flat in the depths of winter on the all weather. BUT the majority - 99.9% - are truly run. There are certain jockeys that we won’t use because they’re prone to occasional lapses in judgement to put it politely. But on the whole racing is a lot straighter than people would ever believe. Favourites lose because they’re not good enough, horses fall because they didn’t jump well enough, jockeys fall off because they didn’t hold on tight enough but nobody wrestles horses to the ground deliberately or jump off a galloping horse on purpose.
  21. Typical isn’t it! I tip someone or something and it just doesn’t work out!
  22. Ah they’re some old ones. That last one is entitled Feog giggin’ in the book. I do enjoy the Darwin awards.
  23. But harder to flush down the toilet when it dies as well!
