  1. Now now. I genuinely don’t think this is easy to call. A look at the bookies would confirm this too. I would like to see Fury get well beaten though, doesn’t come across as likeable to me (which is some going in the world of boxing where being a pillock seems to be something to aspire to).
  2. Thanks for the detailed reply - have my suspicions the price thing is little more than a cartel. Interesting Re new stoves. Cheers
  3. A very detailed reply with some key information not reported in said press release, and also a few points I’ve never heard of. Can you explain why when I last bought a stove (3/4 years ago I think), no one would advertise prices? I had to either phone them or go into a showroom? Also, is it possible to see particulate emissions for existing stoves, is there a table anywhere?
  4. Who on earth burns wet wood anyway? All in all a bit pointless/daft?
  5. That is an impressive wood pile and operation, very jealous! A good description, of a fascinating book. This whole thing sounds a total nonsense, the only pain in the **** thing for myself is that every so often I buy a large quantity of wet wood from a tree surgeon (suits us both), relatively cheaply, then saw, split and season it myself. And as someone else pointed out, most of my kindling comes from dismantled pallets (presumably end of life pallets are burned anyway?). Cant say I’ve seen any sort of enforcement of any smokeless-coal-only areas, ever.

    Free adds

Mods can this be merged with the other thread?
  7. I’ve no dog in this fight, nor will I seek out an argument on the internet. The two people I know get their hours a week prior. It suits them both (Or at least doesn’t bother them as long as they get an acceptable average), they’re not being done over by some cretin like Mike Ashley. However you look at it, it does limit financial planning/ budgeting.
  8. Unless I’ve misread this, this is exactly how they work, you don’t know your hours (and therefore pay) from one week to the next.

    Freeads

First question I asked anyone was if they had a certificate (they all did). I just emailed freeads and requested my account be closed owing to their decision not to allow these items. It was all I used it for. If everyone did so it might send a message... or maybe not, I don’t know what % the shooting community made up of their users.

Looks like it, I had the search bookmarked. Recently picked up an air rifle silencer on it - ideal for that, very quick and free to advertise.

    Mk38

Good luck on the search! I had picked the gun up out of interest while waiting to collect something unrelated in the shop... overall happy I did, pretty much drove home and returned with my beretta and chopped it in! With an adjustable stock and a butt pad spacer it wins no beauty contest, but what a difference. Was also teagued, which was a bonus, although not for my wallet.

I pretty much had the same epiphany picking up an adjustable 525, trap fore end in a dealer last year. Night and day compared to the Beretta I thought fitted me prior. They aren’t as good looking as the Berettas (In my opinion), but what difference, to me at any rate - like an extension of my arm.
  13. Paypal terms state they it’s not to be used for purchasing firearms. So if you use it, it has to be friends and family (no fees for the seller incurred). There is obviously no guarantees/buyer protection and don’t write things like ‘Browning pump action shotgun’ in the notes or they may well cancel the transaction...
  14. Definitely true. Tell everyone you know.
  15. Self determination, which is Scotland deciding what is best for Scotland. This very thread is the essence of it, when read back - more people not resident in Scotland than those who are, telling us what it is best for Scotland. Pretty much the collapse of the British Empire (yes, of which Scotland was a driving force) in microcosm. The majority of Scotland is politically opposed (pretty much opposite) England. Also worth noting that Scottish ‘nationalism’ is unlike most (all?) others Worldwide, in that through said self determination Scotland would be more welcoming, more inclusive and less isolationist than the (main) country Scotland is looking to separate from. Want to live here? Crack on, sign up! I’ve no doubt that in the short term Scotland and the rest of the U.K. would suffer economically, a price my ( but clearly not my parents) generation will probably be willing to pay. @grrclark clearly has more Economic knowledge than most if not all of the posters here including myself (what is your background?!) and presents a balanced viewpoint - is there a reasonable assumption as to time it would take to recover economically, for all parties? I’ve also no doubt that Scotland will be Independent in my lifetime (I’m 40). For those bemoaning this fact, no matter what side of the border Or part of the world, realistically there is only the political slide to the right in England to blame - 20 to 25 years ago this would have be unrealistic. Scotland isn’t comparable to a region of England, through history, education, legal and political backgrounds, and to say otherwise ignores the reality.... Though I can’t deny we’ve not more in common with those in the north than those in the south east of England.
  16. 6 months into Amarok ownership, first pick up (62 plate). It’s a family car first and foremost. We’ve three kids and two dogs, would reccommend, especially for trips away where we seem to take most of our worldly possessions. Downsides already mentioned, consideration Re parking and sending the first born into the load area for packing/unpacking. The fact that Mrs Hod would take the pick up rather than the car, for any journey, speaks volumes.
  17. Sorry I’ve no idea at all, I just googled it thinking I’d done something with my settings, but it appears to be a techy thing effecting a few forums.
  18. If this has been reported already, apologies. When viewing the site, signed in on an iPhone, I always hit the ‘new posts’ button. At the top there are two viewing options, condensed or expanded. I always chose condensed so as to be able to see as many topics as possible. However, since the new year, clicking condensed or expanded only shows the expanded view. A quick google gave me the following info from another forum, running similar software the PW maybe? Any chance an admin can have a quick look and hopefully sort? cheers! ‘Every version of IPB got the same bug, the developers when they created the site set the cookies to expire in 2020. Nailed it. I've set it to expire in 3020 so we should be good.‘

    What 3 words

I’d venture that it is easier to get a word wrong than numbers, particularly when to get the 40k words, plurals have been used. That said w3w is not without merit and I have it on my phone.
  20. The premise that every nation should be allowed self determination is basic democracy. It should not be for others living elsewhere to decide or dictate this. The brexit vote arguably changed the situation materially again, giving cause for the demands for another referendum, and while England votes overwhelmingly Conservative, Scotland did the opposite, adding to the diverging paths both countries are taking. Brexit was argued on the uk being free from being governed and bound by decisions made by politicians from other countries that the uk didn’t elect. Which is pretty much where Scotland finds itself. Why would England want to keep Scotland? My guess is a combination of defence (trident and air bases locations), energy supply (oil and green energy) and losing face internationally if Scotland left. Re-locating a fleet of nuclear submarines would prove very problematic in every respect I’d imagine.
