  1. We used to shoot out to sea from various places in Norfolk and the Wash area, I wonder if they still do. RAF unexploded ordnance and all
  2. Only an hour from me🤔 I've lost track of this tier thing anyway. I go to my local straw baler, local chemist and my perm. I call into a fuel station once a month, apart from that don't go out. I'd say I need to get out more but can you say that now with all this covid and PC and woke and all the other BS?
  3. Never heard of this barrel ring, off to try mine now🤣🤣 I never understand this fixed choke thing, if you're not happy have them bored out, job done. Reminds of a guy who came to "buy" a land rover I'd built from chassis up. Told me it couldn't possibly be a galvanised chassis as it wasn't grey enough. My size 10 large showed him the road home.
  4. Its my belief licensed pest control firms are like politicians, tell you what you want to hear till they have the job then do what they like. I'll stick to hitting them on the run with 9 grams of number 6 shot and letting the farmer dispose of them. Unless anyone else knows of some law? Thanks for the answer anyway.
  5. Maybe a support bra if they're old and kna
  6. Since when? And how did you get this information please
  7. Unless they become politicians
  8. Sleeping bag on a bad day👍
  9. To retain the savage beasts😇 But yes, probably to keep us till we pay🤣
  10. Ok, I'll bite,🤣🤣🤣 No..... Sycamore shooting ground Sheffield. People come from all over just for the views and the brewery 1/4 mile away that does take aways. Bradfield brewery. The biggest negative is its very windswept and the wind can make the clays go anywhere, especially back at you.
  11. Well🤔 C4 is an explosive and PMC is President of the Mess Committee. The RSM, Regimental Sergeant Major is normally PMC of the Sgts, Sergeants Mess and generally explosive to boot, so it sort of just fits🤣🤣🤣 Other than that I have no idea.
  12. Yup, said he was fishing. This time he caught himself😉 Tis a shame we had to loose a popular member before the troll went.
  13. Before I retired I used to run the 7 miles home from work each night. One day I forgot my running shoes and it was either my steel capped wellies or crocs. Crocs it was. I was amazed at the support and comfort and my time wasn't any less. I did get some funny looks though.
  14. That's sort of the point I meant, if you're able to do a gym session with respect you're not that bad. When I used to pay for physio on one session I was taken into the gym, put on a bicycle and lasted just 22 seconds before I passed out from pain. Turmeric for me would be the equivalent of sucking a smartie to run a marathon. For those in generally well health they may have some limited use over time, before you suffer irreversible joint wear.
  15. Its my understanding they're ok if you're not too bad to start with. If you're already, like me, "gone" its a waste. I get better results from a heat pad applied to whichever hurts most. Or on a bad day a heated fleece blanket and plenty of rest in preparation for the next day you over do it. By what you describe, they'll not hurt but then a walking stick would be better. Its not meant nasty, I walk with crutches, sticks or or a good day 1 stick.
  16. It was broken into regularly and kit stolen. Many years ago it belonged to my RFD. But yes permanently closed now. The Boar is still open on the Woodhead pass. As is the one at Glossop off the A57(registered shoot) But for value, Sycamore, 50 bird, £15 and a rifle range. Every Sunday morning. Run by Howard Turner of ex Arthur Turners gunsmiths. Load Brook, 50 bird, £15. Closed currently as its game season. Beacon Rod, £10, 40 bird every second Sunday. Anybody fancies a shoot that's local let me know I'd be happy to meet up. My son and myself are always (usually) the first round Sycamore on a Sunday 0930. Have the place to ourselves and no queues.
  17. Yes, but if you want them in paper they're i think £6 each. £8 if waterproofed. I only buy the ones in paper I use the most as I actually enjoy a paper map. The online versions are updated continually though. If you get a new phone you just reinstall the app and re log in. You can only be logged in on one device at a time I think. If you're not sure, they usually do a free 7 day full access trial, which is more than enough time to explore it or even dare I say, download the maps you need and keep them off line 😉 For the £20 odd quid it costs per year its superb. Just an example of what's available
  18. No it was the Rydale auction in N Yorks. Someone put a link to it. (Appologies to the OP, I can't remember who)
  19. But going out with binoculars reaps other rewards. I've often seen birds in the distance and observed uninterrupted fight or feed. I've also seen other vermin such as foxes and passed this onto the chap who owns the shooting rights to decide who to let shoot (currently i only have SGC and not FAC). I've seen game birds and deer and also passed this information along the chain. Time spent on recce is seldom wasted. The problem with putting write ups on a forum when you have little to report is just that. I think my last write up of very little was when I had set up a 360 degree hide, had birds coming in and realised my ammo was still in the house. Scrounging through bags and pockets I managed an assorted handful of cartridges maybe 12 or so, I can't remember now and pulled back an otherwise dead couple of hours. But how may times can you write up, "today I recced for 2 hours but it wasn't worth setting up a hide so I left if for another day before moving on" before somebody screams so what we all do that everyday. I'd much rather read something interesting i can relate to, enjoy, sympathise with or learn something from. So here's a write up, last Tuesday I fired 8 x 12gauge 30gram x 6s, missed everything miserably and was embarrassed by my shooting. Nothing interesting for anyone to read, nothing for anyone but me to learn from. I suppose I could also add I fired 2 x .410 x 9gram x 6s and killed 2 squirrels but so what, no pictures, nothing really to shout about. Why try and cause arguments when people have a good day and report it. Be happy for them. They take nothing away from you. It could be your day next. Look at the pictures, learn from the patterns, learn from the hides. Pick up on others good experiences and use that to your own good. No one is too important not to be polite to others.
  20. Shop local, support your local dealer of loose him. I find they're only on guntrader if they don't sell in the shop. The next step is auction. I don't get buying "mail order" guns. How do you get the feel and fit? How do you appraise its quality? What if it develops even a minor fault? RFD fees to bump up the price. Must be better going to a gun shop, racks of guns to try, craic with the shop staff. Actually see and feel the thing, maybe borrow it for a few days. Barter, get a deal and come out smiling.
  21. Taken by my daughter this morning. I just like it.
