  1. The problem is like everything its about money. Before I retired to retain my HGV licence I had to have a medical, pay out for a form filling in. Attend 5 days of re training, pay out again for nothing more than a form signing and 5 days loss of pay. Then finally pay for the renewal. I never worked out the cost per 5 years, maybe £150 per year? Don't nurses need to pay an annual fee to stay in employment? I'm sure other professions are the same, bus drivers I know are. Maybe gas engineers? It's just another tax. (I'm feeling that way today, a good old moan day)😁
  2. I've began disassembling and without the spring the blade will flap about. I'll find some use for it, probably use the rather nice blade for a project as its quite chunky. I'm sure one of the knife makers on here could use it for something.
  3. I've just been looking at the halfords ones and reading reviews. It appears you need to buy the unit rated well above your needs. ie: a unit rated for 3 litre diesel is unsuitable for anything over 2 litres if that makes sense. The one rated for 3itres and above is £140. So I'm having a long think first. Its not like I'm short on space and I already have heavy duty jump leads. Maybe a leisure battery and a split charger.
  4. An update on this product @oldypigeonpopperin my opinion a waste of money. The jumper cables are very short and incredibly thin although the crocodile clips are strong and of good quality. I fear the cables would quickly overheat. Compact size and with a USB type charger and led light. Simple on/off button and 4 blue leds to show state of charge. Arrived yesterday showing 7v. Charged as per instructions then was unstable between 16v and 13v. Left overnight to stabilise. Came out this morning to my Range Rover which was showing 8.4v. Checked the pack, it was showing 12.8v. Connected to car immediately dropped to 10.4v. Enough to turn the ignition on but no way enough to start my car. I don't believe it has the power to turn over even the tiniest of petrol engines. Needless to say it's going back and when I have time I'll pop into Halfrauds and look at a more expensive unit. In short you get what to pay for. Buy cheap buy twice. This unit is 💩. Second picture as removed after turning ignition on.
  5. You are quite correct, I thought the button on the knife was for one handed opening but its very stiff and needs two hands. The internal spring locks it into position. I just tried the button on the rear and its spring assisted opening and locks! I was unaware of this, so it now will not be leaving the house. Like I said before the Wish app is 💩 and as far as I'm aware it doesn't mention "assisted" opening, I thought it was a genuine Browning clasp knife, standard. Thanks for the heads up, my SGC is worth more than a maybe. *Note to mods or admin, it maybe better to delete this thread.
  6. I suppose you could use a thread gauge to measure them. I wouldn't just try random chokes in case you cross thread or damage the internals of your 3800. That would leave you little in options. My guess is go to a reputable gunsmith and ask for advice in person with the gun.
  7. Thing is women speak women, I bet she understood it as well.😆
  8. Yup, slightly off topic but I couldn't agree more with getting kids out. I remember vividly walking miles with my grandad, tickling trout, shooting anything edible and there's little that isn't. Him constantly asking me what tree was what and what could I use it for. Same with grasses and plants. Collecting all sorts of things from everywhere and then making wine from it. Coming home exhausted and filthy and cos we didn't have a bath stood by the kitchen sink having a sink bath. Then grandma cooking on the Yorkshire range whatever we brought back. A healthy upbringing learning a respect for the countryside pride in yourself definitely a respect for one's elders. Gun safety was natural and you never took more than you needed. Never set traps you couldn't return to next day. I try and do the same with my grandkids and they in turn love it. If more kids put down the phone/computor/game thingy, they'd understand the countryside not have to Google it and the likes of packmans word wouldn't be taken as fact. It would it fact be laughed at by any kid old enough to take a country walk and use the mark 1 eyeball and common sense. Rant/ramble over
  9. I'm old school, love wax cotton and for what they cost these days for non barbour you could have a new one twice a year and still have change from a fifty.
  10. A while ago I ordered on line from that there Wish app, - since deleted cos it only has 💩 for sale! Imagine my surprise when this arrived today, I had forgot about it. £7 & £4 p&p Must be worth the £11 total in anyones money, but to be fair although it's sharp it's not razor sharp, yet. It appears genuine Browning too.

    Fitness

Gained around 2 stone and the only exercise I get is unloading/loading shooting gear, picking up shot birds(very rare) unloading the shopping when it's delivered and house work. I do however, get some substantial sleep.
  12. Apparently he's now trying to be friends with Lord Botham🤣
  13. Glad he's ok, that's the main thing. I feel sure he'll be more cautious now
  14. Have you a link to it or a picture as my son is currently looking for something like that.....or is it for sale?
  15. I couldn't always handle 5 pints of beer, but I tried. Strange but true, when I joined the army the diet was beer, fags, and chips ( I was unusual because I didn't smoke). I earned £4.00 a week
  16. I remember that, lines his pockets ready for when people wake up to him and stop kissing his donkey. Retires as a multi millionaire laughing at how gullible folk are
  17. Bear in mind the chokes could have been opened up from original. Check it with a reliable choke gauge.
  18. 10/- Nooooooo, I can't afford 10 bob each!!
  19. WOW!! That makes for awful reading. So you get some officious person and you can be prosecuted for carrying lead ammo if it rains regardless of if you intended using it.
  20. Anything more than a big fat zero is too much for him. I wonder how much of the £254,598.00 on salaries went to him?
  21. If an electric car has a flat battery can you jump start it? Just wondering
  22. Just lately I've been fancying a liver and onion sandwich, love kidney. Never had any venison liver or kidney so it's now on my list. Hopefully next year when my son starts stalking again👍 Well done by the way, and nice write up🌝
  23. https://countrysquire.co.uk/2020/11/28/heat-turns-up-on-chris-packham/ It's an old link but hope it's worth your reading.
  24. How can you not love that, and at the price too. I admit to being a tad green with envy.
