  1. Looking at the guys webbing would suggest american as I think at the beginning of the Pacific campaign in WW2 the marines still used that webbing and the Springfield rifle. Looks like a cool idea, maybe more of an annoyance weapon rather than having real practical accuracy. I do love seeing all the ingenuity from WW1 and WW2

    New NI lockdown

Oh I was part of that! In the height of the summer it was like a Roman orgy in that fuselage with 20 sweaty guys climbing over the top of one another! Well I just seen a clarification in their notes no sporting activity OF ANY CAPACITY in the first week. I was always happy to find somewhere quiet to sit and take my tea with maybe one other, hate feeling crowded in somewhere at the best of times
  3. Is that the one that comes on the wooden stand? Dangerously tasty stuff alongside a cheese board, crackers and various pickles

    New NI lockdown

I've literally just reopened my wee sideline pocket money sports therapy business again and as its close contact I'm getting all of a week and a bit then closing again, same as last time, one week open then damn well closed. I work for an aerospace company and we physically can't social distance at times, do they care? Nope! I won't even go into the tea room for my breaks because I don't want to be close to other people. The biggest issues over here seems to be the uni students and 6th year teens being out and not respecting guidelines.....also soft parents who thing their little crotch goblins can do no wrong
  5. Good lord thats certainly putting it away! RIP liver function!
  6. How are you planning on cooking it? My mum usually does a boiled ham and in my 35 years I've as yet to experience anything bad about it. She would go to the butcher and tell him what she wants and how she plans to cook it and she ends up with the right thing. My brother in law is cooking ours in the kitchen he works in then sending it down to us, but i think i might further bake it with some mustard and brown sugar

    New NI lockdown

Absolutely, I know people will say there's always next season but for some estates this might be the end, or what they will do is try and maintain bird numbers and put down a small amount to mix in next season. An estate I used to beat on is 10 minutes walk from me and I've hardly heard a shot all season. Don't think I would go back there again mind you after how I was treated last time!

    New NI lockdown

Most of the politicians seem to agree that the biggest problem seems to be non compliance with even simple measures. Were you meant to be out on a driven shoot? Was just wondering how hard they have been hit this year in NI, I was planning on doing some beating this year but just though before the season started "what's the point?"
  9. Think there's about 38 million people in front of me but it still said I could have it by next September... I'll not hold my breath
  10. So the price of people wanting a big family get together for Christmas is a 6 week lockdown starting from boxing day....hope it's damn well worth it. I'm just crossing my fingers that rough shooting on your own or socially distanced is allowed, maybe someone from BASC could give some insight?
  11. If that's the case I would say no, unless you have symptoms you don't get a test unless you are a close contact of someone who tested positive, that's basically the rules, anyone else is wasting tests. I think if you go online to order one the questionnaire asks if you have symptoms or if you have been in contact, if you don't have either then they won't test you
  12. There must be a reason why they asked her to take it, has a member tested positive and are adamant they caught it from someone else in work so they are trying to trace?
  13. Sad thing is if this was the USA the surviving thief would be the one charged with his accomplices death
  14. No I meant I think he over handles sending them to retrieve, in a few of the videos his dog is very close to a bird and he keeps stopping the dog to direct it rather than letting it use it's own nose. Who knows maybe the weather conditions were making it hard for the dog to get a whiff of the bird. But that's just my opinion, nothing more than an observation. As for the shoots he goes on I know they are like a roaming syndicate but I think they also have a "home" shoot. I think they do show off what our sport is about
  15. You won't find a company who will officially tell you that yes go ahead and whack HP steel through a gun without the relevant proof marks. You might get away with it without damage as plenty have but there is always the chance you could put something far too spicy through it and do some real damage. What do you need to be shooting HP steel at? Are you doing some long range shooting?
  16. Yea nick still contributes to one or 2 of them. I remember reading when he got his first cocker and followed him learning from a field trial guy about how to train. Seems like a nice genuine guy
  17. When they begin to routinely arm them in the same fashion as the police in northern ireland. I don't see any reason why they all do not have a sidearm when you consider the threats from lunatics with knives and guns. Let alone driving at them with a car. A good few years ago a few miles from my house some clown decided to try and run over a police officer to escape a road block that was set up to stop his stolen car. He drove at the officer, went to mount a pavement which would have resulted in quite a few civilian casualties, he received a couple in the chest and I didn't survive long enough to be arrested
  18. I fear the amount of people watching the sheer comedy of this election will consume so much popcorn it will unleash an epidemic of diabetes across the western world.
  19. A gunsmith could do it with a MAPP or oxy acetylene torch. If you do it yourself you need to ensure the heat is localised to the bolt handle. Then it's a case of bending it as much as needed then buff out any marks and tidy the finish...Maybe have the bolt nicely jewelled? If you aren't comfortable in your metalworking then best left to a gunsmith More details on the rifle would be nice, calibre etc, lovely classic looking rifle
  20. By the beard of Zeus!! That looks like Michelin star food. My missus is a very plain eater and probably wouldn't eat that but I did have her eating some plain roasted pheasant breast.
  21. I personally prefer the videos by Nick Ridley. It shows the kind of shooting a lot more people can afford without the music and shows a guy with quite an average shooting ability having his days shooting with his dogs and friends. My only real criticism of his videos is in my opinion I think he over-handles his dogs a bit and whistles too much.
  22. Maybe there's a place that has some ground level hides to shoot from rather than a high seat. Hope you get sorted
  23. Apart from Soros I love seeing that other insufferable old goat Verhofstad(or whatever his name is) throwing a wobbler because we won't do as he says.
  24. The first ever woodcock I shot (17 years ago) I tried to cook without knowing what the heck I was doing, I hung it for 3 days and then tried to pan fry the breasts with onions and some gravy and it was minging. I really need to get another and try it properly as per some of the methods I've seen on the forum!!
  25. Mind if I lend a hand....I think I saw them same rooks flying over my permissions in northern ireland 😁
