  1. That's the best kind of walk with a dog! My walkabout yesterday resulted in me sitting watching 2 giant swans wandering down the river, nothing else and not a shot fired
  2. I just can't work out where they went to, there's nobody else on this permission apart from the landowner and he doesn't pick them, we haven't even had a first proper frost and there's not a single one from top to bottom in the blackthorn bushes, still a few rosehips about but probably not enough to do anything with them. I had a thread a while ago about birds possibly eating the sloes but opinion was split on whether they do or not, the place is coming down with crows at the minute so maybe they done a number on them
  3. Shame I didn't see this earlier, I last walked my perms a few weeks ago, place was heading with sloes, just waiting to ripen, down here as i type and the place has been totally stripped and I'm the only one that walks here. Where the hell did they go?
  4. A little goes a long way, don't give her all you got! Wonder how it got that little bit twisted in the first place, an odd part to catch on something
  5. Wish I had kept my Baikal, proper made in USSR o/u double trigger with allegedly half and full chokes. It was a bit on the short side but I still pine after it and it's incredibly shiny bores, mind you its replacement AYA yeoman sxs I traded it in for (with 200quid added) is still with me and not likely to be going anywhere ever.
  6. Could be a mental thing, if you don't trust your cartridge your head won't be in the game to shoot well. What range was he shooting at? What cartridge was he using?
  7. Look for a cobalt drill, if you know roughly what the diameter of the screw shank is then use that size to drill through the head down into it, pop the head off and move to the next one. You will want a few cobalt drills as it will handle heat build up better on the steel screws. I do this quite often with rivets/screws/bolts in work right down to 1/16" diameter stuff.
  8. Another mower victim, the deck on mine had rotted out pretty bad this year and split behind the front wheels just after my 2nd last cut. so much so that it flexed so much the blade hit the sides. As the engine and everything else is good I just welded in new metal, I know a lot of people who scrap stuff at the first sign of bother as is the norm with today's throwaway society. Why spend over 100quid for a new one when a couple of afternoons with scrap steel and a scrappy welder can get things going again!
  9. 32 gram 4s or 3s in steel should do the job for close to medium range duck. Just make sure you don't put in superior proof steel loads and stick to standard
  10. On a hand built gun like that you won't be able to buy a part that fits without fettling even if you can buy the part at all, if as you say the fault possibly lies with a rounded corner it shouldn't be much trouble for a gunsmith to weld it up and file the corner in to suit. It could also be the case that the flat that the previous owner has shimmed is the part that needs repair.
  11. I know one guy who had one and he loved his. In my opinion if you are buying to use as a bit of a beat around/shoot wagon thing for fields and lanes I would buy one with as little added extras as possible as it means theres less to go wrong. Mind you leather seats that can wipe clean are obviously a bonus but i dont think the rav 4 had them.
  12. When I was first starting out with pigeon shooting at 14 years old with my late neighbour he used to talk about the "Scottish pigeons" that migrated at a certain time to our area (northern ireland). I reckon this could have been the Scandinavian ones too. He was able to tell when it happened as he would go decoying and see very little then all of a sudden there was a massive increase in the population only for it to tail off again.
  13. Would do my best 🤣 On a serious note though I love seeing women diverging from traditional roles, in my work some of the best apprentices we have had in the last few years have been the girls, seem much more humble and willing to work and learn than the usual jack the lad type guys we seem to get that think they know it all.
  14. I could give her the best 30 seconds of her life
  15. Why irrelevant? It's a public street like any other, the difference is it has suffered a terror attack, imagine how the police will react to a call about a person walking with a long gun over London bridge. I don't see why they should react differently in a smaller town. Being the cause of an incident on a public street because you were carrying an unslipped gun will not sit well with your FEO no matter how much you tell them you were not breaking the law. In today's age of social media you can bet hour backside you would be recorded by someone while the firearms team have you on your knees with your hands up.....trust me that would go viral! People have had a licence refused because the FEO didn't like where there cabinet was, they don't want guns in plain sight.
  16. Another perspective on this, picture what would happen if you decided to walk across London bridge with a gun over the crook of your arm. I think Scotland yard would take a rather dim view of it.
  17. I'm really considering buying the wife a bread maker for Christmas. Was going to get her one over the first lockdown but everyone and their dog was buying them "Just incase" and the prices of even the cheap ones went through the roof. Every time we make fresh scones or soda bread it barely gets to the cooling rack before we have butter dripping off it and scoffing it.
  18. If you can get at where the little hole is, get your fingers just beyond it and give it a bit of a squeeze to see if anything comes out, if you have some sort of splinter that's went in vertically your best hope is to use the squeeze pressure behind it to hopefully pop it up out, if you can dress the paw then all the better, a good drop of magnesium sulphate and then wrapped up should help draw out any rubbish that's in there.
  19. I couldn't care who wins, the news will make for interesting viewing as the disappointed side behave like infants spitting the dummy out instead of accepting it and getting on with their lives. I'm going to get the popcorn ready.
  20. Look at it from a random non shootong Joe public's point of view who is not used to seeing a firearm, just driving along a road minding his own business when a person walks out of a house onto a public road with a gun. To him there will be absolutely no reason for someone to have a gun in their hands on display in the street. There could be a phone call going to the police who in turn will send a firearms team looking for them. They may not have broken the law but having a gun on display coming from your house could be looked upon as putting your personal security at risk as a potential burglar now knows you have a gun in the house, possible reason to revoke a licence. From my firearms department they even warn you about putting pictures of yourself using your firearms on social media, if your guns were stolen and it could be demonstrated that your lack of common sense was a contributing factor then your licence is gone, end off

Not too shabby at all, maybe it was comfortable enough for you but jeez that looks an awkward shooting position! But I suppose whatever works to ensure you have a safe back stop.

    Nice killings

These people don't believe in freedom of mind and speech. You do as their religious scholars tell you or else.

    Nice killings

I think France needs to dust off a certain madam who used to publicly deal with criminals.
  24. I've still got one of those plastic clay throwing things lying in the shed somewhere, bloody lethal they are, me and my mate near smashed clays into each others faces while chucking them from his back garden while the other shot.
  25. If you want to see some "quality" shooting over a pointer check this out..... go to about the 1 minute mark and just watch. Bloody horrifying 😱
