  1. I can’t get worked up about this. Most private charities are lifestyle gigs for wealthy wives with nothing to do and fancy mixing with other women doing much the same thing. The money was supposed to go to the NHS, so if the family hosed it up a wall instead of the countless NHS middle managers, then who cares?
  2. Shush. Pumping out dross in reply to every post does not make you appear wise. It makes you look unemployed or employed by the State (little difference) and a Johnny No-Mates. You’ve delighted us all enough with your guff - don’t you have mates down the pub who are interested in your waffle. Somehow, I doubt it…
  3. £500M = defence cuts. £280M = estimated cost of Covid enquiry. Beyond my comprehension.

    Vinny Jones

Jones and I share the same gun shop. They have only complimentary things to say about him.
  5. Loved him in Brass and Day of the Jackal. Always seemed a perfectly decent chap, especially when things got tough with his wife’s illness.

    Dementia

Based on my Grandmother's final years with it. 1. Keep MiL in her own home. Is it a bungalow, as stairs become difficult? 2. Get on to the Council. They provide visiting services, loan electric medical beds, wheelchairs, as that’s all cheaper than moving to a home 3. Paying for home help to come in takes away the daily stress. Employ a couple of helpers direct to cover the core hours. Agencies are thieves. 4. There’s no guilt in wishing it would end. We make people live longer, not better.
  7. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/one_pot_partridge_with_69897/amp i make this all the time. - the birds stay moist and who doesn’t love gin in cooking?
  8. Looking at both Sterling and Gilts today, it’s safe to say the Labour crashed the economy. That’s the trouble with enabling liars - it comes back to bite us. I guess the question is, “how much damage can Labour cause in one five-year Parliament?” They won’t get in next time round.
  9. It’s a hateful and vindictive budget, only benefiting those who evade taxation or those who are new enough to the country that don’t yet have assets easily traced by HMRC. First & second generation migrants probably won’t hit the IHT, CGT or business taxes threshold. Those who flit between other countries where they hold dual nationality or other family won’t worry about these taxes. The only people who will pay are the middle classes - those who own property to be handed down, farmers and those not rich enough to afford or benefit from estate planning. You were told by the Tories that Labour would do this, so don’t bleat now that Labour do what they always do - soak the rich (or nowadays, soak the “not poor”).
  10. You don’t understand my previous comment. I presume you work (or not) in a State entity, so much of the budget won’t affect you.
  11. Best wait until Govt. publish the Red Book. The really unpalatable stuff is buried in that for the accountants to pick over. All I would say is that Labour can’t even lie straight in bed.
  12. Where are all the forum’s Labour fans? It’s disappointing they’re not on here to explain why this is the best government ever, how it’s all the Tories’ fault and that we’ve never had it so good. I await my re-education with bated breath.
  13. Don’t worry, he’ll slink back in to the party and have the whip reinstated after a suitable (short) time span.
