monkeyboots
HAHA It might well be good for a few pound, especially with McCausland runnin the show... Ye's are right on Liam though, he's far too busy as a vet to be reliable to deal with. I ended uo sittin in his yard an hour and half one day- even though I'd arranged to meet hi at 3 aye what he needs is sum1 to run that we gun shop for him he has a we gold mine there but i suppose he makes to much money working at the vet any nite you go up there is always a pile of boys waiting to get into the gunshop but he is to busy running between it and back across the yard to deal with a dog or cat at the surgery Edited October 1, 2009 by monkeyboots

Until that day I'll keep goin to Toome- at least you know they're open and when you ring they know what they have in stock. In the next couple of weeks I might try Beattie in Ballycarry, I heard his prices are pretty keen...

Bluebarrels
burkes in coleraine usualy have a good selection of stuff as long as you get the old man himself and not that dirty pedo son of his , there"s mcullough guns 1 mile from me so i mostly deal with him he has plenty of guns in stock but can be hit or miss with his shells always plenty in but seems to stock 1 brand this month then gets a different brand next month, was up at young guns in magherafelt getting the .22 hornet and he seems to have a good enough we shop I use to buy 1000s of carts from Burkes, the old boy was always a pleasure to deal with, his son less so,use to pick a lot of what i wanted up from his house, always got a fair deal from them any of you boys shoot Magilligan ranges?excellent crow and rabbit shooting if you can get on there use to shoot on there with a freind of mine called Rex from Ballycastle(anyone know him???) Thanks for that... if you track him down and he does do ammo give me a shout he works to the foresrty commision so if you see one of their vans sitting outside a house near ballvoy it could be him, ive tried to get on magilligan but have been told no by the army , although my sister lives near it and i take a sneak every now and again with the lurcher for a rabbit or 2 but its a few fields away from the army bit
dazza
Hi Dazza I have seen this gunshop on my way through Ards. What are they like to deal with? I have tried Country Sports down there but thought they were a bit expensive Rob. Country Sports is far too expensive, Firefly is good. I've been going to him for years and he's always been good with the discount.

BB used to shoot ballykinler ranges but only figure 11's, does that count? slightly off topic of gunshops, and also a bit vague... i saw a shooting range over dungannon/moy/cookstown direction last year when i was at annaghmore fishery (i think its called that - its only a couple of mile from rectory lodge), anyone know if its a private club or it you can just pay and shoot? thinking of having a day out soon, few hours at the fish then an hour or two at the clays
Bluebarrels
Ballykinler ranges know it well, have you been on the clay shoot they have there?what about the golf course, bit 2 windy for me
Ozzy Fudd
Ballykinler ranges know it well, have you been on the clay shoot they have there?what about the golf course, bit 2 windy for me did a bit of clay shooting down at the hollow once or twice, but didnt see any other shoots (8 years ago mind). saw the golf course but ive never played golf in my life, if i remember its near the ranges, the tee's beside the small strip of trees? paint balling down round the boat house is the best laugh, dressed in blue coveralls and flourescent yellow bibs, tactics were simple - either running as fast as possible up the hill, praying and spraying, or hiding in a foxhole sniping off all the idiots running up the hill
Gareth_Northern Ireland
I would say Mc Cloys has the best gun shop of all the dealers in NI

clutey
McCloys, bunch of robbing gangsters, will never be back there. Found the Newells at Hollow farm ok, but the best to deal with and very competitive is Beatties in Ballycarry.
scrob
The only two shops I have used really are Crawford Sports in Maghera and Groggan Guns in Randalstown. I bought a Browning Ultra XS off Steven at Crawfords and have been in a few times to pick up other bits and bobs, always found him very down to earth and easy to speak to and reasonable prices. Not scared of the big "D" word either! Good selection of branded fishing gear too and loads of country clothing. Recently traded the above gun in with Harold Ewart of Groggan Guns in Randalstown. He really only does it part time as a hobby and seems to specialise mainly in AYA guns, I was able to browse 5 different No.2's before picking my lovely 1997 made single trigger with Prince of Wales stock. The same gun is making almost £2k even on the mainland but I picked it up for a snip at £1500 (the same price Tannyoky and McCloys were looking for similar guns made in the 70s/80s). My only negative is that he wasn't too clued up on the paperwork side of things and made bit of a mistake with my one-on/one-off transfer (I have the gun on loan from my father) but apart from that he was spot on. Does anyone know where I could cartridges a bit closer to Londonderry though? Bit of a treck heading to Maghera
ollie
did any of you"s ever deal with fred quinn at ballycastle he used to be a very good man to deal with although he has packed it in now , but i heard sum1 say he now sells rifle ammo dont know if it true Monkeyboots, years ago we used to go to Fred Quinn almost weekly for a yarn and to buy some ammo, but IMO he is one of the most 2 faced ******** in the country. There is a place outside Rathkenny where I go now, very reasonable but is only open on a Thursday evening. Find McCloys have a good set-up but they are really expensive since they moved into the new place. I bought my Beretta from McCloys and found them really good to deal with until I collected my Beretta, took it home for a shot and found that they had took the spring out of the magazine tube , took weeks for them to track 1 down for me. Cannon
Beatties in Ballycarry are fantastic. Real down to earth guys and always seem keen to help. Also tried Loughview and was impressed with the service. It's amazing what you can do with a garage lol
