recomend pigeon cartridge

Recommended Posts

Can any one recomend me some decent pigeon cartridges as ive been using 30g no6 rottweils and cant get on with them at all, has any one else had issues with these?

30g no.6 lyalvale express supreme or 32g lyalvale express supreme in no.6 both seem to do the job in mine does pretty much anything i come up against bar fox (its is possible tho not recommended to kill fox at short range with them aswell better sticking to BB,1 - 3 tho its more ethical)

I don't get the 'good cartridge' 'bad cartridge' thing...

Two (different company) size 6, 32gm cartridges will do exactly the same thing. The good or bad shot is entirely down to the person pulling the trigger.

You have wadding powder and hardness of shot which all vary cart to cart not huge but it affects pattern and feel IMHO

Going by your "running total" for all you shoot in a year you are unlikely to fire enough shots to tell the difference..............

Try some RC Sipe 5's at pigeons and see the differance in the way they die especialy at the limit of your range......

I'll have you know that as I work 9am-7pm, Monday to Friday and I travel to Nottingham most weekends, I have very little time to go shooting. I forgot to put my "running total of shots fired" but I don't think the ratio is that bad.

The vast majority of pigeons I have shot have been whilst out walking the dog, so it's nothing to do with not hitting anything and more down to not going out enough.

However, thank you for highlighting that if I have a very low kill count for the year, must then mean I can't tell the difference between two cartridges.

I notice quite a difference when pigeon shooting, but not on clays. I haven't used a vast variety of cartridges as they last me a long time, but a fair few.

Both RC SIPE 32g 6 and RC 1 28g 7 1/2 seem to hit very hard. Am using 32g 5 Fiocchi at the moment and although they are a heavy cartridge, they don't seem bring te pigeons down so well, though are nicer to shoot. Bit less punchy.

Gamebore's Clear Pigeon were a nice all rounder. Want to get some Eley next

depends on your shooting ability

If you're shooting and hitting them in the middle of the pattern most cartridges will do but if you're on the edge you'll really notice the bigger shot improves your kill ratio
