STILL WAITING FOR NEW GUNS FROM SPORTSMAN GUN CENTRE

Recommended Posts

Has any body else had such problems with the sportsman gun centre. We spoke to them at the cla game fair and told us that there would be a three week wait for a styer mannlicher so after the show my friend phoned them up and ordered a .243 pro hunter and a .270 pro hunter with the sound mods and schmit and bender scopes. after numerous phone calls to the sportsman and thirteen weeks later still no guns. We just keep getting fobbed off. has any one else had this type of service from this shop?

Yeah I have. I ordered a load of reloading kit from them before I bought my Hornet (over 6 months ago) and some of it still isn't here. Luckily what's left to come wasn't worth much so I just bought more from somewhere else. I've called them about it that many times I can't be ***** any more. They can keep my money and lose my custom, that will cost them a hell of a lot more in the long run

Sportsman are pathetic. It's a wonder they do any business.

We have never recieved anything from them (only did a couple of orders but then realised they were tosh). Cancelled both and ordered elsewhere - after numerous phone calls to get a refund. The really crazy thing was that they assured it was coming in stock "by the end of the week", "very soon" ect. We later discovered that the item was in fact discontinued, and since they order direct there was no chance of getting it.

:good:

I won't use them after they fobbed me off for 4 months over a high seat which never arrived and in the end I had to cancel. They never returned my calls and I ended up having to speak to a whole load of them and go over the whole story again each time. If you MUST use them check what you want is in stock first.

Bushwear for me for all my kit except guns/rifles/ammo.

  • 4 weeks later...

All the time, and not just with weapons. Was told the Sako was there, but had to keep phoning and was eventually told they were waiting for it to come in.Have ordered loads from them, and often told it is in stock when they are speaking bull. However, the wait is worth it,as the savings usually outweigh the wait.

i recently ordered some boots, a few shirts, socks and a fleece. Not as bigger order as your guns granted but still an order. Paid for delivery, 3 working days because the postal strike was fast approaching. Nothing for 2 weeks, then a package turns up for me only to find a brown fleece(the one i ordered was supposed to be green, its still green now in the picture online) also with the package was a note saying all the items had been sent apart from the fleece.....

So i phoned em and they sed they only make that fleece in brown and thanks for pointing out the picture was green........no alternative siggestions! also i moaned about my other stuff and they said it had been sent before the fleece(i dont think so!!)

3 very shirty phone calls and a week later and they sent out wat was so called another set of my stuff on a 48 hour delivery. 96 hours more like but it came so i was a little bit happier.

Have sent back the fleece and am still waiting for another one back.......

Dunno wether i will be ordering from them again, have not been to one of their shops but i can imagine their shop service to be alot better as for mail order :whistling:

we went and picked the guns up today with high hopes of getting them zeroed in this after noon. They told us they would all come setup and bore sighted. when we got to eastern sporting were the guns had been delivered. The guns had not been set up at all. The scopes were still in the box's and they had sent the wrong sound mods they had not even been fitted so we will have to tacke them to our gun smith to have them fitted. We had been told that for our trouble they would give my friend some spare mags and you gessed it no mags so more phone calls tomorrow. At this rate we might be able to shoot some deer in 2011.

Glad I have just read this! was going to order some gear...........wont bother now, think I will go else where.

Ta

Your call of course - but there is a danger in threads like this that don't quantify how good/bad they are. Say 20 people are unhappy - as in this thread. Is that good or bad compared to other retailers? Until you know how many people are satisfied with Sportsman's then its hard to say. But it is not good for that 20.

I have dealt with them twice and have been pleased with them. But I tend to support my local RFD when I can.

For my money I am prepared to pay a little more to my local dealer. They order for me I pay when I collect.

With internet or mail order there is no rapport so the vendor takes your money and passes the buck.

The only advice I can give when purchasing is always use a credit card not a debit card.

By doing this you are protected under the Consumer Credit Act which makes the credit card provider responsible for the transaction.

If you are let down and you immediately complain to the card provider they are obliged to pursue on your behalf. If they receive more complaints they can and do withdraw the facility from the outlet.

Good advice but I believe the minimum is £100 for credit card protection..So if it's £99 buy something else as well..
