Mungler
The whole consumer searchable database is not exactly new - the first mass one I can think of was Autotrader; indeed the autotrader database was pretty good until they recently made it poo, however, I digress..... So then, Guntrader is nothing more than a glorified database / list with a "flashy" (yeah right) front end..... so why is it so clunky, buggy, crash happy and generally useless? pegasus bridge
try uk gunroom if you think guntrader is bad!

killer_pigeon
makes you wonder why the shops use it, i have emailed 3 shops from guntrader and never had replies or phone calls back maybe they dont want my money and are happy to not sell anything during this recession, then they moan at you when you go in to buy something that you are not supporting them enough because they cannot be bothered to check email more then once a week that Bl**dy script error keeps coming up when you try and close it down also. rant over i feel better now
Mungler
Oh yeah, and try and close the ****** without a gazillion windows popping up and refusing to **** off.
humperdingle
Seems to work OK on my PC... What browser do you guys use?
Cranfield
I don't have problems navigating around Guntrader, but I do browse with Firefox and have AdBlock Plus installed.

FinFerNan
Firefox seems more stable, but it also struggles to run the script from time to time.
George1990
I like Guntrader and think it's really good. Found both my guns on there and bought through Chichester Armoury, though they are a good shop and keep their ads up to date.
Fatcatsplat
I switched to Firefox and it does work better with no pop-ups and script errors. Lack of photos does P me off though - If you're going to spend between a couple of hundred quid to several grand on a gun, lets have a look at the thing first please and have a decent description (Essex Gun, you are the worst offender by far)!! Whitebridges
It's just about useable with Google Crome, better with Firefox though.

cometa24/7
hi all, I also use firefox,no problems either.
George1990
I use Opera. By far the best browser. Internet Explorer just makes my computer run about 2 miles hour. And Firefox doesn't have the perks of Opera.
Mungler
Even leaving aside the buggy lumpy nature of the website itself, the actual search service / functionality is flipping useless. I always use the "click here for the old gun trader" search and go from there.
ME
The owners of Guntrader should hang their heads in shame. The site is not user friendly and jams up continuously in I.E. What other options are there though UKGUNROOM ? (which is even worse) or what ?
albob
firefox with adblocker and never had a blip with guntrader using it. as for photo`s,they should make the effort,as a picture can make a sale, especially if the buyer is miles away and can gauge if a gun is worth the travel time involved. al
starlight32
What you have to watch also is that hardly any prices other than the second hand listing are a true price........ Whenever you ring up about a new gun you always seem to get the same old reply; 'Oh that one has just gone it was old stock at the old price but I have one exactly the same which has just come in but it has had the 2 million percent rise because of the euro and the price of wood , steel and plastic (for the escorts) has gone up fourteenfold. As for dealers I bought this up on another forum a year or so ago and the consensus was if your interested in a gun dont email phone and ask , why then put an email address if your not going to use it . MC
What is really needed is an easy to use gun selling website. I hate guntrader and all the others with a passion.
petethegeek
What is really needed is an easy to use gun selling website. I would be surprised if you could find many people disagreeing with that. The tricky part is defining 'easy to use' formally enough to produce a design specification which would meet differing people's understanding of 'easy to use', and was also capable of being implemented using currently available tools and technologies. At first glance the database looks fairly straightforward, largely leaving the user interface and interaction as the main consideration. (As I seem to recall Mung identifying in a previous post on the same subject some time ago.) Personally I see the issue as primarily being a commercial one, i.e. could such a site be made to generate enough revenue to justify the up front investment in development, either from scratch or adapting one of the plethora of existing e-commerce applications. Obviously there would be ongoing costs associated with the running, maintenance and ongoing development as well. As things look at the moment GT seem to have a captive market with little or no incentive for further immediate investment.
Chard
I don't have any problems using Guntrader (apart from a lack of cash) My only gripe is that it doesn't save your requirements sensibly. If you want to change your search parameters, it lobs you right back to the beginning and you have to enter everything again, which shouldn't be necessary. Never had it shut down on me (Firefox) and no pop-up boxes apart from their rather irritating marketing questionnaire that pops up at the start every now and again.
