dunganick
Maximum respect. HFW - We salute you. LS when he isnt with a man shooting doves off a roof with a rimfire :< other than this, i think the man is to be congratulated on how well he has portrayed country life, and his program (more the early ones) were very often about where the food comes from. got alot of time for him, will be watching this evening

mel b3
I did try to watch River Cottage, the first series, as I was sure I would enjoy it, but I have a problem with HFW, I cannot convince myself that he is real. B) i have it on very good authority that he is real however he's not a pukka countryman but a proffesional that has made his money in books,tv and whatnot and is now in the fortunate position that he can play the countryman without fear of starving if his plans don't work out ,i also have it on good authority that he's a bell end of the highest order and seems to think that he's something a bit special. ps i'm still a great fan of his programmes. jimdfish
i love hugh, yes i do, and i know that youre loving him too. He is the only person on the tv in the last five years to show shooting fishing and contryside ways. Heis great and irrespective if you think him fake or fool, his is the only prog on the telly that shows it like it is. jim
enniskillen
I find the program very good and pick up some great cooking tips. B)
badsworth
Old Hugh FW is well known round here - all the programmes are made around where I live. Yes he is for real, and yes he does have a mighty high opinion of himself. He certainly believes in his own 'celebrity' - but who cares, his programmes are good to watch and I agree with most of what he says about country pursuits and meat eating. I think he does a lot of good for us country sports types. I am not too sure what a 'bell end' is but I can guess. Yes I think that is right too - but I will forgive him! Wookie
If memory serves, he's not too worried about getting into the dodgier parts of politics either. I seem to recall he seconded his deer warden friend for a post as regional director of the BASC last year or the year before. Ok, I'm prepared to admit that he might have another agenda and would maybe use his celeb status to get her in, but she seemed like a decent lass and he is the only person I have seen on telly actually showing where food comes from. I can't believe that people still have issues with that! My ex-wife holds him responsible for me actually doing some cooking when we were at the stables, so he can't be all bad! Puddytat
He broke my heart when he married someone that wasn't me :*) I think he's good as he's not afraid to show all the sides of country living. He shows animals from birth, right up until slaughter, doesnt just fluff up the way of living. He's a rather good cook too. And kinda handsome. What more could you want? B) I think theres a danger from books and TV programs to encourage all the yuppies to come invade our land and start up small holdings. Theres one book by Paul Heaney... Cant think of the title...but he lays it out in such an appealing way..has all about the different animals, ways of farming,, and what to do with the produce..but somehow completely bypasses the actual slaughering of the animals but then again, he's rather handsome so i'll forgive him Huge FW doesn't do that, he shows it like it is, dispite his yuppie background. Sergeant
I watched it too, seemed like it was a repeat of the highlights of his previous series. It brings back memories of when we used to keep pigs and chickens.
Lurch
I couldn't be ***** watching this after I found out it was going to be yet another 'looking back at' i.e. rehash of previous series. Yawn.
dunganick
i watched it, was very dispointed, turned it off after 5mins, its exactly the same as the last series of looking back waste of time, you can watch the whole old series on home and leisure
