dazza
I just like the way it feels due to it's size and weight. At the minute I'm using Sako Gamehead 3,2 g soft point 50 grs.
Evil Elvis
Cz 527 .222!!! Light, no recoil, accurate out to at least 300 yards and is no louder than a hmr!!! 50gr remington accutips. Edited May 15, 2010 by Evil Elvis

2-dead-in-the-air
If its for night shooting go for a .222 sythetic stock just in case you knock the stock etc.
activeviii
an other fan of the .222. love my tikka T3 in plastic. privi partizan 50gr at 50p a click works for me. Phil

Beardo
.223 with synthetic stock (have wood, would have synthetic in restrospect for a foxing rifle). I've got an RWS Titan 3, great rifle, superbly accurate, better safety system than the Tikka. Tikka T3 is probably the most popular which has got to say something though. Mr_Logic
beg to differ on the RWS safety. While it's a 3-stage, it's easier to knock than the T3's safety. In terms of accuracy there's not much between them but my vote goes with Tikka as its receiver is made from steel. I like steel over aluminium, much sturdier. This does not matter for the RWS's bolt as this locks into the barrel direct, but it does matter for your scope mount screws...
the running man
I use a .223 styer aug ballpup, knocks the foxes straight over.u can get in and out of the landy easily and shoot well with from a car.I can stay on aim and with finger on the trigger whilst cycling the action. I can also take it to the range and the point of aim won't wonder as its not a sporter barrell.I can also shoot cwd and muncjac. I know there's an argument for a lighter barrell for wondering round stalking that's ok but u can only use it for hunting,no good on a range. So I bought a multi role rifle. Ain't that the truth Mines a tackdriver like yours... lovely gun. I don't see how you could "knock" the safety on it either... theres a fair bit of travel required to move from S to F Edited May 18, 2010 by garyb
kyska
I have .204 on my FAC for fox, but haven't bought anything yet.

I don't see how you could "knock" the safety on it either... theres a fair bit of travel required to move from S to F I did on mine, on a jacket or lamp battery or other stuff I had on at the time. No issue with it when actually shooting the rifle. My 243 was also very accurate though. But I'd still have the Tikka.

the running man
Don`t you find the straight pull a disadvantage with noise etc? always found chambering a round to be a noisy afair.not really no,I've only once put another shot into a fox and it were pretty sure someone was around by then! I've also put a few simple rubber parts on the inside of the rifle wich made the clack of the cycling a little less clacky! If that makes any sense? What I do get is complaints from my mate about a hot .223 case hitting him! I know a ballpup for fox goes against traditional hunting rifles but I don't care,I'm not spending loads of money an 3 rifles for 3 jobs wen one will do! al4x
This is a very open question, one of the well respected best calibers is the 22-250 but has its downsides but is a lot of keepers tool of choice and they ignore the noise and barrwel issues. After that everyone is going to say my gun is best  Personally mine is a .223 Remmington 700sps and does the job well on a sensible budget, pretty reasonable to buy and reasonable to run and doesn't seem that fussy with ammo and so far groups very well on paper 1/2 inch no problems and I think if I do my part the groups will shrink a fair bit from there. pavman
Tikka Varmit stainless in .243, its a sensible caliber to get an open ticket on, shoots almost flat to 200 yards with a 58 grain Fox load. ok its a bit heavy but it helps when out round the fields in the truck as it stays put (most the time) also ok for Deer with a quick change of round and just allow for drop.... grasshopper
Tikka T3 .223 for me with homeloads doing about 3400 fps see them drop before you hear the bang Only when i`m shooting with it Lovely rifle is Rob`s. I use aCZ 550 in .22 250.Either Federal 55grn V Shock or Remington 50grn Accutips shoot realy well out of it. I bought a .243 in this model as it was the gun that felt most comfortable when i was trying different models,so therefore bought the .22 250 to suit. It has only been used for fox,so not worried about barrel wear.Mine is set up solely to use with a NV add-on and the .243 is my day/lamping tool.
