Mrs ME and I have got 5 days booked in Vegas at the end of January.

Mrs ME is going on a helicopter ride over the "hole in the ground" and I am going to the gun range on one of the days.

What other stuff is good to see or do - outside of spending the kids inheritance in the casinos

I'd second that. I walked in and presented a leaflet about firing machine guns. The bloke smiled at me, pointed at a wall and said 'you're in vegas now boy, which machine gun do you want?'

Also, watch out for the many 'all you can eat' buffets that are in the casinos. Grab a guide book to make the most of it.

Don't forget It'll be colder than a lot of people realise. I am there most Januaries, though not the latter part of the month. I have seen snow down at street level, though it did not settle for long. It is very easy to check the weather forecast in advance online.

As for what to do, there is a lot more than just the obvious, so other than shooting and going on that helicopter ride, what kind of things do you like doing? There is hiking and rock climbing only 21 miles out at Red Rocks, the Hoover Dam is worth a look including the tour down inside the turbines etc., in fact loads of stuff to do. I have been there something like 14 times now, and seldom get bored despite never once gambing a cent.

For a fancy meal with the wife the SW Steak house in he Wynn and or The Olive overlooking the fountains at the Belagio.

Horse riding with cowboys was good if you want to get out in the desert

A visit to the old town Freemont Street

Breakfast at the Belagio

The show "O" is absolutely amazing

Heli ride to the Grand Canyon

Shopping at the outlet stores is a short cab ride away and well worth it. Boots from the Timberland shop are cheap!

So much to do out there mate, it isn't just about Casino's that's for sure
