mental ex misses

Recommended Posts

Hi there i don't know if anyone can help me this one

2 years ago i finally kicked out my ex girlfriend of 3 years. The problem with her was that she was a manic depressive who she self medicated with as much booze as she could lay her hands on, especially towards the end of our relationship. She has previous for violence and three times has been banned for drink driving and once dangerous driving. So she's hardly a law abiding citizen.

As for myself apart from two speeding tickets (sp30s) i have never been in trouble with the law what so ever, until that is my ex made up fictisus claims that i beat her up and reported me to the police, in revenge for me ending our relationship......

In fairness to the police they did realize it was a lie after showing them a text sent just after she made the complaint wishing me "all the luck in the world cos now your gonna need it" and the staring obvious fact that the hand prints on her neck that she did herself were upside down (thumb marks at the bottom next to her collar bone)which i pointed out "was i stood on my head" In light of this I was released without charge and driven home within 3 hours....

In closing what do any of you think my chances our of obtianing an SGC

if you wernt charged and you didnt recive a caution you should not have a problem at all

As you weren't charged you don't have to mention it, but they've probably got it on file. If I were you, I'd cover yourself by mentioning it in a covering letter. Or even better, give the FEO a call and have a chat about it before you send your application off. Believe me, not all FEO's are out to stop you shooting.

I do wonder how this situation would be handled if Keith Vaz's cronies get their way re partners and ex's being consulted over SGC and FAC applications! To me that puts WAY too much power in the hands of someone who might want to make your life difficult! How would we prove the ex was nothing more than a vindictive bitch?

thats how i see it. you dont need to mention it on the application.

I am fairly sure it will be brought up in interview with FEO, but just be honest and it should not stop from you from getting a certificate as long as it is as explained.

In light of Mr Birds actions and then the revelation of his previous convictions etc the police will be being very thorough.

Yes, main source of info.

Sorry, what I meant was the entire record, not just the Criminal Records. As obviously the original poster wasn't convicted of any offence as a result of the incident he described.

It strikes me as quite unjust that anything which didn't lead to a conviction i.e. false accusations/arrests and arbitrary public searches (where no offending articles were found on your person,) could potentially prejudice a person's application for a SGC or FAC... :hmm:

Also that proposal to consult prior partners during the application process is very worrying!

I learnt all sorts at my interview, they run the address as well as the name through the database... Which can produce some interesting questions. IF for example your address has been repeatably burgled over a period or subject to lots of anti social behaviour complaints it can have an impact (and rightly so)

There will be a record of the arrest on the Police National Computer and it will show that No further action was taken. Every arrest that ends in the custody block has an arrest summons number generated.. You dont have to worry about it, its not a conviction or a caution but the FEO will know about it.

I just wonder WHAT is kept on record? I was pulled a few years ago, MOT out by a month, totally forgot about it  . Anyway, got my wrist slapped, thats all. BUT on my next renewal, it was mentioned by my FEO. NO problem with renewal.

ps When I was pulled, he did have a headlight out and tried to kick it on  which I made in my statement on producing documents, hoping he'd got it fixed :good:

My mate recently applied for sgc and fac, pretty much the same story of the guy who started this thread-his ex was a right bunny boiler! Anyway they had a 'domestic' 2 years ago and she called the cops on him. He wasnt arrested or nowt. He's never been in trouble with the police before, so before he applied for his licenses he sent off for a police record check to ensure he was all 'clean'. The check came back with nothing on it. He applied for his license and within a week was contacted by the firearms department who advised him to to un-submit the application as there was a record of the call out during they're domestic. He was told to wait a few years and then try again. Would he be able to fight this case with perhaps the help of BASC??

I had a despute with a ex neighbour and the old bill served a notice that lasted 6 months on me but they have to record all altercations, the other chap was being a right **** and my mistake I told him so, I never signed the notice and old bill made the decision that the person that shouts first is not the not guilty party and came friends with the local beat manager, but it was in black and White that I had shown aggression and abused him ,this was 5 years ago ,I let my licence lapse signed the guns to father in law and when the chap moved I resubmited my application and came 2 weeks latter, the police will always make their own mind who's good and who's bad so fingers crossed mate you will be ok :good:

A mate of mine had his ex wife make all sorts of wild allegations about him after she had emptied their savings and run off with another bloke. Her motivation was money (and she got it) but she threw mud in all directions and some of it stuck. He ended up having to "give" his shotgun to another mate before they took it off him.

Similar stuff was employed by her over the kids and custody/access. She was a nasty piece of work. Don't underestimate the effect an ex can have by spouting off. Why do you think those Fathers for Justice blokes end up in batman suits on the overhead gantries of motorways?

I was stopped and had my mini cooper stripped by vans of police looking for a pump action shotgun 10years ago before i had my licence. This has been brought up twice on my interviews it turned out an old women across the road saw my ex girlfriends 3year old brother play with an orange gun and reported him in my car  I asked the police what they were looking for and he responded pump action shotgun mate  i said what in a mini?.Once they found nothing i was free to drive off and given a stop search form.Iwas pretty ****** as i only just sent my application in for my sgc at the time.Im sure if i did have a sgc they would have revoked it for the sake if it.I hope they gave her neighbour a warning about waisting police time.I mean how many 3year old criminals do you hear of that run around causing crime with orange shotguns

Its surprising what can go against you or what information they hold.

I am expecting a bit of a rough ride at my next renewal thanks to my daughter.

She went off the rails a bit (understatement)and in an attempt to gain sympathy from school came up with some cock and bull story about my guns to a school counsellor which in turn was conveyed to the police, further enhanced and embellished as to my state of mind and habits (bearing in mind this counsellor had never met me)

I had an unannounced visit from 2 gentlemen wearing pointy hats late one night asking me to show them my guns...and did I drink, was I depressed...??

Turned out the nice councellor had told them I was suicidal and an alcoholic or something along those lines. they wouldnt elaborate too much.

Anyway, they went away satisfied..or so i thought.

Then got a visit from the FEO who turned up at my house with my medical records to ask about my medication from a few years ago as one of my prescriptions was an anti depressant which had been prescribed to help me sleep after an operation.

He asked a few questions and went away satisfied.

I then got a letter telling me that following concerns re my daughter, they had checked me out and were happy my security was adequate and that I would be allowed to keep my guns but that I might consider additional security or even lodging my guns elsewhere if my daughter came to stay with me full time.

Following on from all the stress of this and stress from my daughters behaviour...she managed to get arrested a couple of times and ended up in A&E a few times, all at 13 years old, I did end up getting prescribed some anti depressant/sleeping pills although the stress was marked as resolved after a month and a chat with my GP. Thats the bit that has me worried for my renewal as I am sure they will put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

To be fair to my GP, he did say that he would happily tell the police I was not a risk but as its a multi GP practice, he might not be the one they speak to.
