Dear Henry D,

Surely your religion already holds the answer to this question for you in its scripture!? :D

Speak the truth in love ? ...... he hasn`t asked me !

What if he just asked the tattoo artist for Psalm 23:4 and he didn`t get it right and he goes there and rips him a new one ?

Here`s my dilemma.

A friend at work has had a tattoo and as it is a Bible quote and he respects my religion, but doesn`t believe himself, he showed it to me. I said "Very good" etc etc. yet noticed it wasn`t quite complete. It was Psalm 23:4 and didn`t have "of the shadow" in it.

I remember another lad with something similar getting really teased for it and being a little touchy on the subject ever after that.

So should I say something, even though it can`t be sorted or not ?

I would say nothing as it isn't actually incorrect see here.

What you believe to be correct is based upon what you have been taught or what you have managed to learn yourself through various forms of media, but who is to say that information is correct as it is based upon other peoples interpretations which have always been open to debate.

The Christian religion is and will remain the most hotly debated and contested religion there is.

The literal meaning of religion is "strong belief" and if the guy strongly believes his tat is correct then be happy for him.

I always thought that religion was a no no on forums anyway.

It still isn`t the same, his says "the valley of death" not "the valley of the shadow of death" and the NIV 2010 says "I walk through the darkest valley" so the interpretation is the same as the KJV and there is a marked difference between these and the tattoo.

HD, I think when either you or someone else tell him about his tattoo and he types it in Google, this thread will be one of the top hits

PW topics list pretty well in Google and give it a week and I bet you you'll see this if you search the words that are in his tattoo

I get the liking tattoos bit, I have one or 2 but i dont get the having a religious psalm tattoed if you are not religious....doesnt compute!!!

It's an armchair warrior Walting fantasist lock 'n load thing. There are some good macho quotes in the Psalms for the plinking Dogs of War.

How about Psalm 144 :

"Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight"

That one would look good tattooed across the forehead while commando rolling in front of the mirror

No but I read your comment and thought it................................ <_<

Well, we are all entitled to our opinions. I actually haven't employed a couple of blokes because they had tattoos in the past. Why not just write I AM A CHAV on your forehead with felt tip pen? It would be a lot cheaper and it can be washed off when you get fed up with it.
