Pigeon Watch to launch new Gun Sales website – Gun Watch

With the increasing popularity of the Gun Sales forum on Pigeon Watch, we have developed an exciting new website exclusively for gun sales - it's called Gun Watch.

Gun Watch allows users to easily search through the guns listed for sale based on their requirements and upload new guns for sale to the website.

Gun Watch will be promoted and advertised, including in the shooting press, attracting more viewers and interest in the guns you are offering for sale.

How will it work?

From Monday 14th March, this new website will be 'live' and linked to Pigeon Watch.

At this time, when you want to put a gun for sale on Pigeon Watch then simply register an account on Gun Watch and enter the gun's detail.

All guns listed on Gun Watch will also be published automatically on the Gun Sales section of Pigeon Watch.

How much does it cost to use Gun Watch?

• Gun Watch is free to access and search.

• For the vast majority of Private sellers it will be FREE to sell a gun – each account will have 3 free listings per year.

• For Private sellers listing more than 3 guns for sale in the same year, there is a cost of £5 per additional gun listing.

• For Trade sellers pricing starts at just £2.25 per gun, and if the gun doesn’t sell in its first month, it costs just 50p to relist it for another thirty days.

If you are involved in the Gun Trade as a private RFD or Gun Shop, please PM or email me: will@pigeonwatch.co.uk and I can send you out an information pack.

So what's it going to look like?

You can view the website right now at: http://www.gunwatch.co.uk , all the guns currently listed are for demonstration and not for sale! These demonstration guns will be removed on Sunday ready for real listings to start on Monday.

Comparisons will be drawn to Guntrader. I dont particularly like Guntrader but that is the "competition".

Guntrader provide RFDs a bolt on software that they use to register their gun stock this means that it isnt simply an advertising medium for them but also part of their crucial record keeping for their FEO visits.

On Guntrader you can refine your search with Make, Model, Cast, Origin, Licence, Barrel, Trigger, Age, Seller, County, Paired and Price. On Guntrader you can also aid your search by listing say Barrel by length (shortest first or longest first)

This means that I can narrow down my search to say Shotgun, 12 gauge, Blaser, Right-handed, in Essex, under £2000 and start the search from either the longest or shortest barrels first.

Most people will be searching for something specific. A Browning fan wont stumble on a Beretta and buy it because it was there or cheap.

I think that more work needs to be done on the filtering options.

Guntrader is so buggy and crashes looks horrid

I agree :good:

and cost money

So will Gunwatch if you sell more than 3 guns a year. (not that I do)

a cast option for left handers!!!

Indeed, a good example.

I think ME makes some valid points. Guntrader does make it very easy to drill down to your requirements, some additional options to narrow the search would be a good idea. Otherwise its a thumbs up from me. As an occasional seller of firearms (certainly less that one per year) the idea is very attractive. I have begun to think that the sale section on the site has been subject to a little abuse of late and this seems a fair and balanced compromise between the hobbyist shooter and the trade seller. The prices seem very reasonable too.

All guns listed on Gun Watch will also be published automatically on the Gun Sales section of Pigeon Watch.

Guntrader claims 11,668 guns listed. If you had only fraction that number on here you will be bunging up the new thread listings with guns.

Can we use the same log-in as we do here, or do we need to re-register? The PM system on here is great for contacting sellers.

At this time I would sell a gun on here as I don't need to post my name, phone or email to the masses, it's done discretely via PM's. It's the only reason my Ultra's not listed on Guntrader.

Probably not many folk sell more than 3 guns a year so it's free to most people id say... Suit me anyway!

Agreed: at most I'd sell a gun every year ir two at most.

I also reckon that filtering options on gun search is a must for it to be viable competition to Guntrader.

Great idea though and generally I like the layout etc.

Cheers

Thanks for all the comments and feedback so far, it's really appreciated. The Gun Watch we have now is the first version, and we will be releasing regular updates over the coming months.

About the search facility, this is an area which we can work on and improve, there are some additional options which appear after doing a search, but more detail can be included.

The login for Gun Watch will require a new registration on the site, which takes about a minute, we could not use the Pigeon Watch login information (PM if you want explanation). However, you don't need to register an account to browse Gun Watch or to do a search, you only need it to List a gun on to send a Message to a seller about a gun.
