gonk69
hi guys which is the better the sak mod or the sirroco? or are there any better ones for the same sort of money, cheers matt
dannywayoflife
hi mate, ive had both of the above mods and on a 22 to be honest it makes no difference. And for £30 you carnt go wrong with the sak
Beardo
i prefer the Parker Hale on a .22 - not that it's quieter, it's just very small (same width as a heavy barrel).
ellebarto
I've just swapped a SAK for a Wildcat Predator. Hardly any difference at all. Probably would have stuck with the SAK had I known. This is with sub sonic ammo. I believe the differences are far greater using different ammo but I pretty much only use subs.
farmshooter
the sak maby bigger, but its alot lighter than a parker hale, and i think its quieter with subs

Tiger955i
I have the Parker Hale on my CZ452. Cracking little piece of kit which does the job superbly. As Nick says it is very small and it is also fairly easy to strip and clean.
vampire
Matt, you are welcome to come and have a go with my cz which has a scrirroco mod fitted, its fired 800 rounds and i have just cleaned it and the build up of crud shocked me,also the first 3 baffles were starting to deform,ie they have a bulge like ring around them now. Think eye sell them for £
gonk69
cheers vamp. picking up me 452 sillouette with hawke panarama 3,9x50 scope and sak mod in the morning, got a great deal, sighting it in in the morning busting bunnies in the afternoon, hows the shooting your side of the woods vamp? cheers matt
Zapp
I have a SAK on my .22lr and it is quiet.. really quiet. Ask wabbitbosher if you dont believe me
bicykillgaz
i've used a parker hale, logun, sirroco and currently have a sako and the sako is the most quiet in my opinion and about £30 so fairly cheap too.
Greenhunter
Got a Sirocco on my 452...all I hear from my end is a click which is the pin hitting the case! Either that or I'm more deaf than I thought... GH
mrgsm
Sak mods are good, had one on my .22LR savage, now i use the DM80 MK3 looks nicer and does the job. BUT you cant go wrong with a Sak @ £34.00 ish
beanieboy
Got a Parker Hale on my new .22lr - with subs all I get is the click of the firing pin and the thud of whatever it hits - some change from my HMR.
bennyblanco
i've used a parker hale, logun, sirroco and currently have a sako and the sako is the most quiet in my opinion and about £30 so fairly cheap too. I found the Sako the quietest too, easy to clean, light and well built. I believe that almost any will do as its the thwack of bullet on skull that sends the others running not the thud from the gun  Edited May 14, 2011 by bennyblanco
willy1
SAK for around £30ish, i've got an A-Tec CMM4 rimfire mod on my .22lr,only weighs 3.5ozs and is VERY quiet, but costs £66.IMO.money well spent. Alan
foxbuster
I swapped both my rimmies mods yesterday for sak's. Both of them are quieter now (the .22 espiecally). Had a parker hale on the .22 and wasnt sure what was on the hmr. Can't fault the sak's for performance or value.
Dekers
There is a lot of history on this subject. I have both, if you are talking .22lr and Subs then frankly you may as well get the cheapest mod you can find, the difference in sound reduction between any of them in this situation is minimal. So SAK! If you use High Velocity .22lr, HMR or WMR, then the SAK STILL provides the best package, because they are all still going to be noisy. The Sirocco on my HMR died and was replaced by Edgar Bros, I have a SAK on my .22lr and my WMR and when this latest Sirocco dies I will have a SAK on the HMR as well! dadioles
I agree with Dekers that on .22lr with subs almost any moderator will do the job as there is almost no audible difference between them, SAK is a good choice. I do not rate the SAK very highly for the .17hmr, however, as it is designed for .22 and a dedicated mod for .17, such as a DM80, really does make a very significant difference. Mark-70
I have the sirocco on my CZ .22lr as said in a previous post pretty much the only sound is the fireing pin. Cleaned it after about 600-700 rounds, was pretty messy and took some cleaning but the way it strips down makes it easy enough. After reading an article in a mag I thought I would coat all parts with a very light smear of gun grease, supposedly to make it easier to clean and author reckoned quieter too! Haven't made my mind up weather it's quieter or not and haven't cleaned it since so we will see! The article called this running the moderator wet! Has any one else tried this? The article called this running theroderator Edited May 15, 2011 by Mark-

rtaylor
Are the SAK mod stripable? and how easy are they to clean. Not sure what make mine is, its 4" long and has a baffle then a spring, another baffle in the middle then another spring and a baffle at the end. Any ideas? It came with the gun and does a pretty good job, I'd like to try a SAK on my gun to see if there is any difference.

I have been using one on my 17HMR since I had the gun and it has had something like 2,500+ rounds through it. I clean it around every 100-150 shots and there is no sign of wear and tear and no signs of any burn marks on it. I have also used both the SAK and the Parker Hale mods on a .22LR and I found no difference noise wise between them but the SAK was a little easier to clean with it's baffle setup in one piece as opposed to the Parker Hale which had the seperate baffle "washers"! Either way if you use some welders "anti splatter" spray on the baffles when you have cleaned it future cleaning is much easier! I personally would opt for the SAK for a .22LR every time! willy1
I use 'anti-spatter'spray in my moderators as well, keeps the mods cleaner, BUT doesn't stop bunnies being 'splattered' though : lol: Alan
