coyotemaster
Don't let the expense of electronics or the price of the new "fitted" protection hold you back from wearing any. I have used the Lee Sonic finned rubber plugs with the metal baffle for over 40 years. You can also use the simple foam expandables but they make conversation a challenge. If you want sure protection wear plastic muff type with the plugs for bench shooting high powers. I agree that the muff type with the electronics are nice but can't get used to wingshooting with them on, seems to hamper mounting.
elgreco
I was worried the sordins would hamper my mount but i actually think its helped by stopping me hanging my head right over the stock. My clay scores have improved! Cheers Tom
jackinbox99
I use some sonic valve II ear plugs. Work fine for me. Generic "one size fits all". Lets you hear fine, but blocks the big noises of the gun going off.
bullet boy
I use Peltor(Non Electronic)Ear Muffs with Shotgun and Centrefire rifle.
-Mongrel-
I've just got some Sonic Defenders Plus, they are very comfortable, unobtrusive, allow you to hear conversation etc and also seem to deaden the gunshots. For the money I'm well impressed so far! Ebay link

goldeneye243
I use the MSA sorrdin Supreme proX and like them. I have also currently got a set of CENS proflex on order to use game shooting (hope they are good!) I have also been decoying a bit at the moment and been using some Napier pro9 and been really quite impressed. As you can probably tell I am taking looking after my hearing quite seriously! Have a look at some of the reviews http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-R-01526-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O I just received my Howard Leights today, not shot with them yet but they are great to play with. If they do what the reviews say I will be most impressed. Got them from the States via Amazon £47 including P&P handling etc. Shippy
njc110381
I use Peltor Sport Tac electronic muffs. They're pretty good. If I was to buy again I'd try the Howard Leights - they're cheaper and have an input jack for Ipod leads etc so you can listen to music. Not too important at a shoot but it would be great for work! barrie0
They are good. The main thing I was worried about was catching the stock with them as I usually only use in ear plugs but have had no problem at all down at the clay ground. When at the farm I don't usually use any protection as you can't hear anything but with these I could hear a lot more than with just my ears, it's like bionic hearing with them turned all the way up ! I bought them from a UK online gun shop because I didn't want to wait for international delivery but as you say you can get them cheaper by getting from the USA via Ebay. onefulham
We use the Napier Pro 9 and think they are great. At the moment I have an ear infection , had it three weeks and caused me to have time off work sick for the first time in 7 years, this has caused me to be totally deaf in my right ear, it will get better but being deaf in one ear is horrible, really makes you appreciate your hearing and protect it. You don't know how it feels losing hearing till it happens, you cannot follow conversation in a crowd and makes you grumpy as hell !
OvEr_KiLL
i wear these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHOOTERS-AID-SONIC-SILICONE-EAR-PLUGS-SHOOTING-NEW-2011-/150662382323?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item23142d82f3 but they do get uncomfortable after a while
dan-250
i got a kit off ebay where you mould your own, they litterally take 10 mins. and you can waer them for hours on end, so comfy still hear, butjust muffle the bang. think i will get some proper ones made up next time im at the bmf motorbike show. you seem to be able to concentrate so much more when there not hurting or think there getting in the way. i recommend having a bash at doing them, its about £9 and ten mins. i think you will be pleased.
