I know little about air rifles but i believe webleys are now made in turkey? I would stick with Weirauch I have 95 that must be 15 years old still very good my uncle got a TX200 at the same time and part from being a bit fiddly to load (do they do a magazine for these now) and being heavy its a stunner to use.

any quality springer,hw77/97 or any hw brake barrel.the tx200 is also a very good gun.if you can drop on a good theoben i'd go for that over the rest.the other way to go about it is don't spend to much now on a springer, say £140/£160 on a rough'ish springer and save the rest until you can afford a pcp and charge gear.

why would you need to tune it if it is already full power?

Tuning kits make the gun much smoother and more accurate. The difference is pretty astounding. I would echo the above respondents: HW77/90/80, Original/Diana, TX200 or Brum built Supersport/Mercury secondhand, but make sure you shoot the thing before parting with cash. New, you could do worse than a Cometa 300, HW99 or a CZ 634. The CZ in particular is home tunable and a workhorse thats been around for years.

£300 can buy you a lot of rifle/kit if spent wisely, remember that people will recomend their favourites though, and we all do different types of shooting.

I like the CZ in .22 for close range bunny ambushing with a lamp - I wouldn't recommend it for long range target shooting in a competitive way. Someone who does a lot of FT may recomend a .177 PCP, which as a hunter would drive me nuts with all the fiddling around with bottles etc.

HW77 and TX200 are probably the most versatile, VERY accurate and simple springers, but maybe a bit heavy for carrying all night if you have a six hour battery in your lamp.

If you find something, you can always ask on here for a 2nd opinion before buying. You probably won't get 100% agreement, but it would help.

Hi

I have a Webley Raider 2 and honestly can't fault it, build quality is great, it shoots superbly and very consistantly, it's ambidextrous for those lefties :good:

Here she is!!!

Your first decision is whether you want PCP or springer.

The pcp will need charging gear of some kind which costs extra, even a pump will cost £150 or more if you buy new.

A springer just needs pellets and your arm!

For all out accuracy a pcp will usually just have the edge but only just.

Any of the Winerack springers, AA Tx or Prosport will do a good job and be within budget secondhand.

Personally I've used a prosport almost exclusively for the last two years simply because it is the most accurate springer I've ever known, sub 1/2 inch groups out to 40 yards and good looking with it. (The gun, not me!"

Easy to service or tune, spares are cheap and plentiful, a full strip, clean and relube only takes 20 minutes or so.

The best advice you will get though is to get to a club near you and see if you can try a few.

Tim.
