Ricko
Just watching the film on TV of Titanic Went to visit a couple of girls on work experience in Liverpool at Rice Lane city farm in 1998/1999 and they showed me a grave of someone who had been on the Titanic in the cemetery behind the farm. What connections (loose or otherwise) do you have with the story?? Cheers
CZ550Kevlar
I used to work many years ago with a bloke that traveled everywhere possible buying Titanic stuff. He spent thousands on everything and anything, i wonder sometimes what`s it`s worth now considering what he paid for it.
Fatcatsplat
My Great Grandad should have been on it as his firm had been involved in the manufacturing of the funnels, but he'd been and got horribly drunk and never boarded! webber
My company supplies cylinder gases to the company that made the port holes for the Titanic. A pattern for one of the port holes is displayed in Liverpool museum. The company still have a brass foundry, but now also manufacture windows for use on ships and oil rigs etc. webber
BangBangNik
I live in colne in Lancashire, the same town that Wallace Hartley a violin player on the titanic came from. There is I monument to him in the town and also a wetherspoons named after him. I suppose you could say I have been inside Wallace Hartley on more than a few occasions! Chally2
I've been to the graveyard in Halifax were the bodies were buried. I also was in the Merchant Navy (that's why I was in Halifax), and it is rumoured that the reason the engineers were purple on their rank slides is a mark of respect as no engineer survived the Titanic. I don't know ho true that is. The biggest losses amongst the crew were with the stewards/catering department. My favourite fact about the Titanic is that the 4th funnel is a fake. Only 3 were in use but at the time it was fashionable for the liners to have 4 funnels, so the 4th is a fake. I actually think it was kennels for dogs, but not sure of that one. If you look at genuine photos of the Titanic you shouldn't see smoke coming from the aft funnel.
