rimfire4969
I am in Florida at the moment sat by the pool. Paddys day is big here, everyone claims to have Irish blood in their family history. It seems if you don't wear green on the day you get a pinch. I have my England rugby top ready for the day see how that goes down.

Chris Bb
You will find to a lot of people in N Ireland its just another day. Celebrated by some in N Ireland more so in the ROI America ect. Only celebrated in England by card shops and pubs that want to help you empty your wallet. Much like all the other commercial "get rich quick" schemes. And subsidised by idiots. woodcock11
what is paddys day.... is like st george's day Yes but we know how to enjoy it - man up and you can be proud to be English in the same way as the Scots, Welsh & Irish can do on St Andrew's Day, St David's Day & St Patrick's Day. You have probably been told - probably from birth - that it is not cool to be English or else in multi-cultural England you are not sure of your heritage - that is nonsense, you have as much right to be proud of being English as your cousins are of their own nationality in the United Kingdom and - indeed - if you include the Irish Republic [and why not] in the British Isles. Cynical beyond belief - I know of no-one who buys a card and what is wrong with going to the pub and having a drink [unless you are some form of miserable teetotaler] and having an excuse to celebrate with friends, be they English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish

Oh dear - that is not the world we live in now - lets share nicely - we are getting pretty good at it - March 17 for some July 12 for others - does it REALLY matter and do any of us really care any more - we all have to live on this island....
