**Fuel Strike ** scare tactics already

I think the problem is those motorists that run on 1/4 tanks - wait till it's nearly empty then put another 20 quid in - so if they have filled up they are good for a month so queues should in theory tail off.

For as long as I can remember I have run on the full tank system - fill up every week on shopping day - could be 18 quid or 58 quid just depend's on where I have been.

Dave

Same here fill up on shopping day, doubt it this week gone beserk with the ques and waiting times.

I fill up every week, 80 quid is 5 days' commuting....in a 55mpg car. If it all goes pair-shaped (which I really don't think it will) I'll work from home over the internet :good:

£45k a year for driving a tanker and they say its about safety and want tougher regs, ******** is it, its about them being worried people will get cheaper transport to move the fuel basically there afraid of foreign truckers taking it over as they have all the other haulage. i have sympathy in as much as the government does not look after the haulage industry here hence they cant compete and that is wrong but im not supporting anyone getting over 45k and wanting a pay rise for 37 hours driving.

"Call me Dave" tells everyone to fill up their jerrycans.

He's obviously totally unaware that, whilst it may be legal to fill up a 20L jerrycan, it's illegal to keep it in domestic premises.

Nice one, Dave, you've just sent the country into instant panic and told them to break the law. Until now I spent my whole life voting for your party, in future, guess what?!?!?

I am sorry but you have got it wrong - the Prime Minister has not told anyone to fill up jerrycans - it was a junior minister, Francis Maude who made that particular mistake. If you want to attack the government [it is in fashion now and the sheep are all doing it - just as they are panic buying fuel] then that is fine but you do no credit to your argument if you cannot be bothered to get your facts right.

Easy, charge them £25, if they can't get it in they didn't need to fill up.

The panic buyers have drained every petrol station within a 5 mile radius of us so  to them

There speaks the voice of reason - fortunately, panic buying does not appear to have caught on in Northern Ireland - we are far too sensible and yes, we can pop across to the Republic I guess if our tanker drivers go on strike :good:

BRILLIANT - hope you had a good time in County Donegal - don't ask too closely where the diesel comes from! :good:

2x 5 ltr plastic cans, and 2 x 10 ltr metal cans is the maximum you can store at home (for those bad at maths that's 30 litres).

Just look at the cost of the cans at Halfords - £5.20 each per 5l plastic cans, then around £10 for the metal ones (and their sales have shot up). An expensive way to hold half a tank of fuel for the average car.

Leaving Luton today the idiots were cueing for a BP. Took me half an hour to drive down a road that normally takes 2mins. Well as ashamed as I am i lost my rag and held my particularly loud air horns on and forced people.out the way and to abandon the que that was holding the road up. funny what a 32ton lorry can do hahaha.

I don't do.politics as I believe there all as bad as each other. And are only in it for themselves. I trust them as far as I can throw my lorry!!!

It is bonkers how easy panic sets in. Imagine we had another world war 2 we wouldn't last 2mins.

As for striking personally don't agree. BUT it is nice to see some people stand and say no.

Are they really on £45k + ?

Drove a couple of extra miles to a redneck garage on the foot of Snowdon thinking it would be nice and quiet.... ******** to that, there was only one working pump, and the queue went into the 'main' road!

Managed to get a tankful thankfully, and after paying the owner put a sign up saying 'sold out'.

Unbelievable stuff, the whole country's gone into meltdown... again!

A least the government have made a tidy profit out of all the increased fuel sales

Only temporary, robbing Peter to pay Paul.

These motorists will not use any more fuel over time, so they might be coining it in now but there'll be a slump when the panic dies down.

Makes you wonder at the desperation of pulling in tax revenue early.

Saw some pitiful sights yesterday coming back from Hodnet, including a gormless bitch who had pulled across the road to try to get into a petrol station, and blocked the lane of traffic going in the opposite direction. Petrol station was gridlocked with panicking wretches and so she just sat there and blocked the traffic. She should have been fined half a million quid, banned for life and slapped hard <_<

I would like to personally thank all the **** head Policemen and followers who shot at Hodnet yesterday.

They then bought up every drop of fuel in the County to get back to North Lebanon. Leaving me with no fuel and stuck in the house with the Mrs. Now I'm hoovering

Thanks a bunch.
