cwb4321
hello, I was just wondering which type of s/a (gas or recoil) will recycle 21g cartridges the best? Thanks
sitsinhedges
Gas. You might find that most autos wont cycle 21gram but Berettas seem to have a habit of working with them. My 391 does Lyalvale 21gram HV fine. Edited May 7, 2012 by sitsinhedges

DSPUK
My Beretta A300 does - can't vouch for how many before it doesn't as they were just in a load of shells in my jacket but they did cycle and eject. dave Edited May 7, 2012 by DSPUK
alastair0903
basically don`t go buying a 3.5 inch chambered sa and expect it to spit out 21 gram loads , as already said if this is what you want the auto for get a older bretta with a 70mm chamber . both my maxus and my mates extrema 2 will not even look at 24 gram never mind 21 ! the A400 light might be one to look at with the 3 inch chamber , i have used 24 gram in one and it was faultless

majordisorder
My benelli super sport doesn't do eley firsts in 21g totally reliably occassionally the bolt doesn't fully lock back. Get a jam every 20 shots or so
coyotemaster
My Browning Silver will handle 21 gram loads with ease as should the Win. SX3 which is the same action. As stated don't go with a 3.5 and expect good result---the porting/spring system is different. Go easy on the lube as the lighter loads will on occasion not burn as cleanly as the hotter loads. Less is more when lubing an autoloader.
poontang
I've never been able to get my head round why anyone would want to use 21g cartridges in a semi auto. A huge plus point of a semi auto, especially a gas one, is that it reduces felt recoil to the user. Using 28g shells in my old Remi 1100, felt recoil was next to nothing, certainly less than using 24g loads in my o/u. Maybe I'm missing something but I like to chuck as much lead as possible at a target, and for anyone recoil sensitive a semi auto is the ideal tool to do it. Back to the OP's question, a few will recycle 21g loads consistently, most will recycle 24g loads, and all will recycle 28g loads* *Hatsans excluded
HDAV
My uncle has a browning gold gas semi and it won't cycle 67mm cases 28g or not if there was a 21g in a 70mm case it should cycle it...... It won't cycle eley first 28g or victory Compak 24g.....

Sx3 clay breaker
I've hot an sx3 3 and half in mag an it cycles everything down to 21 grams Rgds sx3
Thunderbird
I've read here that many older semis won't cycle Hull comp X 28s. As they're (comp X) like shooting fresh air at the best of times not sure of the point of them in a semi.

Totally agree, i really cant see the point in shooting 21g loads through a semi. But if i am missing a huge advantage let me know
HDAV
Sounds like a **** gun. IT is.............. Felt recoil with eley olympics was only very slightly less than my 525 with the same carts, 525 fires everything flawlessly the Gold Semi is a royal PITA. retromlc
A400 will cycle 24's all day long but I tried some old 21's and no chance, guessing cost of carts might be the reason. But Chris potters selling elay 28 fibre for £150 a thou ATM
