Dave-G
Do you mean a planning application has been made - or that planning permission has been granted?
spanielchris
Application. Objections have to be in by today.
oscarsdad
Same thing happened in mine and there has been a 24hr a day 365 days a yer vigil to make sure the ****** don't start to build anything for almost 2 years now. They have to leave the site by next march but I am not holding my breath. Sadly, councils are scared of being called racist so the ****** get special treatment than normal decent people would not get.
Frenchieboy
I wouldn't worry too much about it mate. If it goes ahead think of all the benefits of havibng a ***** community right there on your doorstep. You can get your driveways tarmaced nice and cheaply. (It will not last long but don't worry about that as there will be enough of them to offer to do it every year) They will fix your leaky roofs and re-point your house cheaply. (Even if your roof isn't leaking or doesn't need repairing and re-point your house even if it is brand new) You will be able to get your trees lopped and topped by experts. (They will have no training but they will convince you that they are experts. You will get all of your scrap cars cleared free of charge. (They might be your pride and joy but that will not matter, it will leave your driveway clear for the tarmacing) Piles of scrap iron will be a thing of the past. (It might not be scrap but that isn't how they will likely see it) No more having to service your quad. (That will be the first thing to go) If you have a pheasant shoot your pheasant feeding bill will get dramatically reduced. (Before long you will not have any birds that need feeding) There will be less foxes about. (They will be frightened to show their faces fo fear of all the ***** running dogs coursing your hares and rabbits) They will "entertain" your wives/daughters leaving you with more shooting time. (They might end up getting pregnant but that's a minor drawback) The takings in your local will go up. (You might not be able to get in there for fear of getting into a knuckle job, but that will save you money. won't it) There will be lots of horses tied up alongside the road for your children to admire and feed. (They might originally have been stolen but your kids won't know that) Lots of cheap houses in the area helping first time buyers onto the property ladder. (Only because no-one else will want to buy them) You will not need to worry about rubbish late night films on telly. (You can keep occupied by watch the fighting and urinating against your garden wall/hedge instead) Yes mate, there might even be more benefits than you first realised so let them have their site in your village, there's loads of advantages of having them around! As long as it isn't on my doorstep!
Vince Green
Bad news I'm afraid. Like all sections of society travellers are variable. Some are actually respectable and only want to be left alone. Believe it or not. Others are out and out criminals and even the other travellers avoid them because they know they will be trouble. oscarsdad
Could you tell that loopy Pakistani politician who has just been on radio 4 that the *****'s made that terrible film about Muhammad? Problem solved.
Gimlet
The council tried to set up a gyppo camp of the council-owned old plying field in the neighbouring village. Apparently, all councils are under pressure from central government to 'find solutions' to the traveller problem for politically correct/professional politician reasons. Which explains why every ferry from Rosslare is now packed with transit vans and caravans. Talk about inviting the devil in! Almost every local resident form the area turned up to an extraordinary meeting to discuss the proposal and such was the uproar the council scuttled back under its stone immediately. But because of unhealthy relationship between national and local government the issue won't go away. They'll try it again. And if they do succeed a lot of people are going to lose a lot money on the value of their properties, to say nothing of the contents. ferguson_tom
We have an established traveller site in the town and to be honest we have little problems, they seem to not **** on their own doorstep. I have come across them doing the horse racing once or twice on one of the quiet roads early in the morning. We have had one of our barns broken into and a tractor smashed in but this was the same time a different traveling group had moved in a few villages up, it has not been touched since. Dont get me wrong I cant stand them I stay well away from them and there is no chance I would pay them any money to do work on my house, but in our village we dont seem to have many problems. The site is well out the way and you wouldn't notice it was there if you drive past it as it is quite well kept from the outside.
bi9johnny
through personal experience they are scum and no one will convince me otherwise........... there are 2 less for a while here as they are both in prison for the rubbish i went through with them..... the daft thing here is they have houses around here and still go 1/2 mile down the road and spend weeks annoying folk by parking in car parks and country parks
DSPUK
A camp was appoved on outskirts of our village and it is well hidden- they cut all the grass verge every week with a new mower - it looks nice now - Sign's up saying CCTV camera surviellance which I thought was taking michael - We along with other people have had would you believe white plants pinched from garden (Magnolia bush in our case)- Not sure if white has any significance for them. - I am now fully alarmed including shed and garage - flood light's back and front and steel gate on path to rear. - I am sure they are harmless but just not taking the chance. Shortly after that I had my tank of diesel drained on a permission M1 Edited September 28, 2012 by mad1

ROY
I am in the priveleged position of having a pykey camp just up the road from where i live, have even done some business with them in my old job. Luckily they do tend to keep to themselves but i wouldnt wander into any of the pubs they drink in!!! Most of the local pheasants do seem to survive until the season starts too!! However i grew up with loads of em even knocked about with them most of my teen years. I WOULDN'T TRUST THEM OR WANT THEM ANYWHERE NEAR ME. Most ARE thieving scumbags and over the top aggresive for no reason. Oppose this with all your heart!!!

Travellers are included. Some are thugs, but many are nice people who abide by the law. It's the ones which don't that are the problem.
